    You heard it here first; Garth Greenhand is Tom Bombadil.

      That's an interesting thought...that hadn't occurred to me but the two characters are similar...I always thought Garth was the Green Man, but now that you mention it he is kind of a combination of both

      +The Order of the Green Hand Just a stray thought about how in theory Jon and Mance are "royal" in the same way--and it imbues this line with another possible reading. Both may be kings of no kingdom, but still be powerful symbols. Jon may be the King in the North (which is basically a kingdom that doesn't truly exist anymore, but is still a rallying cry that exerts great influence) and Mance is the King Beyond the Wall (also a kingdom that doesn't truly exist, but he is able to rally the wildlings behind that concept). Just something that occurred to me as I was turning this line over in my mind...and brushing my teeth...

    • @gllyflower
      @gllyflower 7 лет назад +4

      +Sophia Wilson Hi Sophia, I wasn't really getting into whether Jon was a king or not, just that this is a possible clever link between Mance and Jon. If Mance and Jon are related, as these videos theorize, then this comment by Jon takes on another meaning: of course Mance's blood is no more royal than Jon's--their blood is the same!

    Yeah, Greenhand's blood is magical. There are many clues.
    There is something in female line, when it mixes with male line it makes more powerful magic abilities.

    This made me wonder about the old "There must always be a Stark in Winterfell"... coupled with "Winter is Coming" and that glass gardens they had with the hot spring. Their blood ensures a well fed North to man the first line of defense?

    • @TheOrderoftheGreenhand
      @TheOrderoftheGreenhand  7 лет назад +7

      We keep wondering about those sayings that keep getting repeated as well...we think that a Stark at Winterfell activates whatever magic that is there but we haven't yet figured out what it is

  • @thespidersgreatballsoffire1247

    Garth Greenhand looks like the Zig Zag man in that pic... no wonder he is the "high" king of the first men.

  • @gabrielpelletier6202
    @gabrielpelletier6202 4 года назад +8

    So, no matter who Jon's parents are, he's got enough of Garth Greenhand's blood to choke an Other. If he's Ned and Ashara's kid, he's the direct offspring of two First Men houses, and powerful ones at that. If he's the son of Brandon and one of his notable conquests, those being Barbrey Ryswell and Ashara Dayne, he's also near-pure First Men. If he's the son of Benjen and someone, it'll be someone from the North, and therefore also of First Men descent. Finally, if R + L = J proves to be true, then Rhaegar was near-pure Valyrian, and as the Valyrians were First Men, he's got that covered, too.

      Thanks so much, that means a lot! He is doing well now after years of many therapies, he just turned 4, we share the same birthday so that's always fun! He had a rough go at life for the first 2.5 years with an undiagnosed immune problem that the finally just called generic bone marrow failure. He had a bone marrow transplant a few years ago from a wonderful lady from Germany, totally anonymously and he has just done amazing since. What a small and connected world we live in! Interestingly enough, while he was in the hospital for his BMT, it was from Jan through June 2014 that read ASOIAF, I had a lot of time to kill and it was GREAT escapism from life at the time. I chalk that up to why some parts of the text completely escape me to this day. I'm sure there were days that I was just reading the words but not thinking about it. I'm doing a re-read right now before WOW comes out (crosses fingers) later this year. Thanks again!

    I can't help but think, in light of all you said in this video, that Ned's marriage to Cat AND his subsequent building of a small sept in Winterfell - the first sept in Winterfell - is much more significant than has been thought up to now. Until this time, the Starks kept the old Gods exclusively... and worshiped them IN FRONT OF the Weirwood Trees... as the pact layed out. Here, the last first men standing, violated the terms of the pact when Ned married Cat and built a Sept and raised his children in the knowledge of both the old gods and the new. You asked in one of your videos when magic started to return to this world... and you said it was the Doom of Valyria - but I see THESE acts by Ned as the turning point.... VERY significant... and adds fuel to the Black Fish's fire too.

  • @scottie16976

    I think you're right about the First men worshipping fire.
    "....Nor do they love the flames. For the oak recalls the acorn, the acorn dreams the oak, the stump lives in them both. And they remember when the First Men came with fire in their fists." ASOS Arya VII
    This reads like the First Men were burning the trees when they came to Westeros. Fire in their fists meaning torches in their hands but "Fire in their fists" sounds like the Fiery Hand.
    I think the original Fiery Hand may have been the men who manned the Five Forts. The forts being the five fingers of the hand.
    If the 5F have the same purpose as the Wall in Westeros, they may be built on the same or similar "hinges of the world" that Melisandre talks about and may be the reason her power is stronger at the Wall.
    The men of the Fiery Hand (that we know of)are slaves/servants of R'hllor. The men of the Night's Watch are no less enslaved. They have to obey all commands and they can never leave. Their oath enslaves them.

  • @AKWatchX
    @AKWatchX 7 лет назад +10

    I've always known Stark blood is a hot commodity. That's one of the reasons I think the Faceless Men wanted Arya; they were never looking for No One where she is concerned. A Stark must always be in Winterfell; I think there are very specific reasons why. Just like their house words, and also the Targaryens I think, they're not just a slogan they're instructions. The connections to Garth Greenhand are very interesting. It fits with the deities from the Great Empire of The Dawn whose children ruled over men. Garth could be a son of one of the gemstone emperors that branched off to new lands. It's fun to think about. Great vid guys, looking forward to the next one.

    It’s brilliant, guys! To think of it, why would such a great power as the God of Light consider Targaryens worthy of having king’s blood? They have been kings, yes, but not for a significant period of time compared to the times of first men. And how Targaryens did ever serve him? They accepted the faith of the seven. I am really only starting to realize the true scale of Martin’s books. It’s amazing. It’s huge. He is so good in writing all these detailed events that are happening here and know, these political quarrels, but he is also gives such a reach background. But you wouldn’t understand one without another.

    I assume the order is ignoring what hbo is doing with the plot, i.e., them listing jon snow's parents as Rhaegar and Lyana. I don't put any stock in it; they have changed so much that it's barely the same story. Sorry if you already addressed this somewhere else.

      Well said! Even if Garth didn't directly possess all of the powers the legends say, at the very least he would be associated with the gods that he brought with that were discarded at the pact. It would also possibly account for where Kings received the knowledge to ward the foundations of the older great castles as we see with Storm's End when Melisandre's shadow baby cant pass through the outer walls.

    • @TheOrderoftheGreenhand
      @TheOrderoftheGreenhand  7 лет назад +4

      Exactly...whether he was some sort of wizard or not, he was clearly something special, and his children and grandchildren formed great houses all over the place, and the greatest among them used the same stone as the foundation of the original structures of their castles, and Storm's End proves that stone prevents magic from penetrating its walls and likely prevents the people inside from having their dreams messed with...sorry but I can't comment on Old Nan quite yet

The video software we use doesn't allow us to use our microphone while recording live video and lighting is the reason we record where we do. We're going to buy a camera soon which will hopefully help us in that regard. And I seem to recall that you commented a few days ago and expressed that you had questions but was afraid that people would be mean to you for asking. We kick jerks like that out of our comment section so if you have any questions feel free to ask without fear that someone will do that to you because even if someone tries we'll take care of it. We have put a lot of effort into turning our comment section into a place where people can freely exchange ideas and views respectfully without fear that someone will call them stupid or something else insulting

      I see... Just point it out because I think that your channel has a lot of potential and you have so much work that with a bit more attention to visual and sound detail it would look more....professional and the channel could grow much more (even doing it for fun it's nice to see our work recognized).
      I'm impressed that you remember my comment! I'm glad that you have attention to that conflicts on your comment section. Some people can be really rude and I already saw some violent reactions to innocent comments or questions. I avoid to comment most of the times afraid to say something that 'wakes the dragon' in someone...
      I loved the Catelyn's videos! Never noticed that details or saw her as such a bad person. Is it still at least one video to come about her, no?

      I always thought that was Tanselle in the vision. I don't think she was really a puppeteer. She appears early on in the Dunk & Egg stories and is mentioned from time to time. She was a little shorter than Dunk so she would have to stand in her toes to kiss him.

    Another great video! I can see that the Children are adversarial to the humans, but have trouble blaming them. I can't help imagining a strange race from another land, physically larger than us and wielding terrible weapons. They breed several times faster than us and destroy everything we hold sacred, claiming whatever land they walk onto like there was noone there before them. Faced with extinction, what tools at our disposal wouldn't we use against them? I'm an American of European descent, so I feel obligated to consider these things. But almost all land has blood soaked into it, having been taken and lost by multiple factions through the ages. GRRM is good at weaving in questions of morality.

    • @TheOrderoftheGreenhand
      @TheOrderoftheGreenhand  7 лет назад +1

      That's the incredible complexity of GRRMs writing...from their perspective, they are just in wanting their land back and mankind gone...from men's perspective, all they wanted to do was farm and build shelters and the children attacked them 1000s of years ago....its one of those paradoxical situations where there is merit on both sides which is why the war to come is so epic

      The Order of the Green Hand What's your take on the Howland Reed no-show so far? Was his venture to the Gods Eye a sort of fact-finding mission or research into the weirwood news network? And/Or has he been hiding in plain sight among some main characters (or...tinfoil time...he's been harboring Rhaegar in secret in the Neck and possibly tutoring him about the CotF and their scheme, and his grand return coincides with his twin kids Dany and Aegon returning to Westeros...3 dragon heads)

    Have you considered that 'King's Blood' could also be the blood of the Great Empire of the Dawn or the original gemstone emperors?
    I believe there is a theory that Garth the Greenhand is connected to the Great Empire of the Dawn, but also it would fit with your hypothesis about the Dayne's having King's Blood, even though they are not of Targaryen or Valyrian descent as they, like the Hightowers, have the look of Valyrians but their families have been on Westeros since before the founding of Valyria, but the Great Empire of the Dawn have a lot of similarities to the eventual Valyrians (appearance, architecture, blood magic, dragonlords).
    It would also fit with your wider theory that the "First Men" founded Valyria after the Long Night / Battle for the Dawn. If Azor Ahai was of the GEotD, and presumably would have brought others along with him to fight the Others (though I understand that his companions died, per the story) then those may have been some of the sole survivors of whatever ruin befell the GEotD, and they may have been the ones who you suspect left Westeros for the Fourteen Flames and who founded Valyria, taking their knowledge of magic and dragons with them.

  • @roebuckmckinney
    @roebuckmckinney 6 лет назад

    "King's blood/Kings' blood" is not a distinction to make any kind of point with. No matter where you put the apostrophe, King's Blood and Kings' Blood both just mean "royal blood". If you mean to say that "Kings' Blood" indicates that a person (Edric in your example) had the blood of many kings, then that could simply refer to multiple Targaryen kings (and he is descended from multiple Targaryen kings through his great-grandmother), or it could refer to his descent from the line of Durran Godsgrief, who were kings in the Stormlands for millennia, or it could refer to his descent from the hundreds of petty kings that ruled tiny kingdoms back in the Age of Heroes and practically everybody in the story is descended from one or two of those. And yes, it could refer to the old kings of the Reach, who count the mythical figure Garth Greenhand as an ancestor.
    I've got plenty more to say about this, but I'll leave it at that. I do enjoy your videos, I think they're well made, but as in the case of your need to have simply EVERYBODY be secretly somebody else (Mance, Nan, etc) you're taking things way beyond the scope of available data.

      I'll tell you what though, I'd always thought the eyes watching Jon was a shadowcat, but you're bloody right, I'd definitely agree it probably was one of the Children. This is why I love these books; I'm currently on my 7th reread and still noticing new things; for example, as they're leaving after finding the wolf pups, and Jon says to Ned, "hear that?" and Ned, ofcourse, doesn't hear anything, cos Ghost is mute, so Jon's obviously hearing him in his mind :-) Only just noticed it on this readthrough. I need to try & read something different though, been on a constant loop since 2012 haha

    • @TheOrderoftheGreenhand
      @TheOrderoftheGreenhand  7 лет назад

      We noticed that too, but couldn't explain what he heard...we thought it had something to do with his warging bond to him but couldn't put words to it that actually makes sense because I still don't know what he heard...these are the first books I have ever re-read...each time you notice 50 mind blowing things as you go through as your understanding of the story increases...we've only technically re-read these twice in total but if you add all the reading that is necessary to make a video to that we're probably somewhere in the vicinity of 3 more times through...it's even better once you go through the app and check out all the characters and maps...

    • @chinaskibloodline
      @chinaskibloodline 7 лет назад

      Which app do you have? I can never find the right one; I'd like the enhanced editions but you need an Apple tablet don't you... A good example of the 'unreliable narrator' that I noticed recently, I'm sure you already have, but it didn't click for me 'til recently, all about Eddard trying to convince himself he and Robert are as close ever, so he says to Catelyn something along the lines of "the last time I saw him/them Tommen was still hanging off the Lannister woman's teat" but then earlier that chapter we hear the last time they saw eachother was the Greyjoy Rebellion, before Tommo was even born, so it must have been Myrcella, or even Joffrey, I'd always been given to understand they didn't see eachother from the end of the war til Balon's uprising, cos it was never the same after Aegon & Rhaenys' deaths.

      George RR Martin's A World of Ice and Fire
      I think that could very well be GRRMs math striking again. As someone who has tried to create an independent timeline his math has given me a few fits. His years are usually right but that one you just pointed out wasn't. It's similar to the Dunk and Egg stories and how the forward to the trilogy explains how these stories begin 100 years before the novels which would be fine if Egg was born then but he was born 2 years after that

      Yes but it doesn't seem like the Tullys have red hair prior to Catelyn's generation...That characteristic seems likely to have come from Catelyn's mother who was a Whent that may or may not have gotten red hair from the Lothstons...and we can't find any real tangible reason for Tansy from the Inn to be related to them or what purpose it would serve...we researched it a long time ago, well before we even thought about making videos and because we couldn't think of a reason for it in the story decided that Tansy was him feeling bad for making Lysa abort her baby

There are specific mentions of the first men fighting alongside the children of the forest against the White Walkers, and the ancient enemy that is referenced is also alluded to be death or dead, and the children are never depicted as undead or deathly. Otherwise, we would have heard WAY more about them. We know so much about the White Walkers because

    Question: How do you fit the Blackfyre Targs into your grand unified theory? The Blackfyre Targs are a huge deal in the Dunk n Egg series and in A Dance w Dragons. Think back about when the black iron Clanking Dragon washes up on the shores of the Quiet Isle, all rusted red (that heavy-handed metaphor about a black dragon turning red after years offshore). How does that fit into your Order of the Green Hand conspiracy? I WANT TO BELIEVE

    What if the pact with the children included marriages? Could that explain how some humans became wargs and green-seers? That's why a Stark must always be in Winterfell. May also explain why the Starks maintain their Godswood. They have the blood of both sides. And other castles that are placed around forests. Do they have lords who descended from Garth? Fun speculation! Please make a video explaining how it seems like the Children were trying to help Bran. In the show I thought Leaf died trying to help Bran and kill the Others, and that we are led to believe that now the Children are extinct. I know that you are operating on the assumption that the books are obviously different than the show, but I was wondering if you had anything to say about the children and blood raven and Bran as they appear in the show. Thanks!

    • @TheOrderoftheGreenhand
      @TheOrderoftheGreenhand  7 лет назад +3

      That storyline is really confusing for me...they didn't even have bloodraven, or if that was bloodraven I don't know why they didn't at least give him an eyepatch or something to indicate it is him...what I took from that from the show perspective is that the children wanted Bran to be touched by the Night King and get back through the wall, so when he does the wall will no longer prevent the wights and white walkers from getting past, like it worked in the cave

    Hello. I love this channel and the theories you talk about!
    I have a question about this theory. If king's blood refers is Garth Greenhand's blood, wouldn't there be many people in Westoros with a touch of his blood? So why does Melisandre insist on sacrificing Edric Storm?

    • @TheOrderoftheGreenhand
      @TheOrderoftheGreenhand  7 лет назад +1

      +allenyusuke Great question. Yes, there are a lot of people with a touch of Garth's blood. Edric has a lot, because he has direct descendent from both parents making a "better" sacrifice than almost everyone else

    • @jaredsmith4391
      @jaredsmith4391 7 лет назад +1

      Wouldn't everyone be a direct descendant of Garth given all the intermarriages over the years? I can see Edric being more direct on his Florent side, since they claim to be founded by Garth's daughter Florys the Fox. But on his father's side, the Baratheons are of supposedly Valyrian descent. Orys Baratheon was said to be Aegon's half brother, but he married the Durrandons when he conquered the Stormlands. Duran Godsgrief is questionably a descendant of Garth, some think he was a contemporary.
      Either way, I feel like Edric isn't quite so pure on his father's side in terms of Garth blood, BUT he definitely has some Valyrian in him which is interesting in a different way!
      Either way, love the videos keep em coming! :-D

      A heck of a lot of people in westeros are descendants with a touch of Greenhand blood (at least that could be somewhat traced)...but the great houses of the reach have been marrying each other for thousands of years and they would (even with the Andal influence) have a good amount of Greenhand blood...I like to think that whenever the Maester tells you not to believe something in the World of Ice and Fire, it is something you should be taking a serious look at

I'm still new with ASOIAF and I didnt know they had those customs of marrying in the Reach. Still i cant find the significance of Edric Storm. Anyone from the reach will have better chance then. Maybe Kings' blood means Garth + Targarien? Or maybe even Greenhand + Durrandon?

    Assuming the Kings Guard are still alive , what then happened to Lord Dustin, Jory's father and the other north men who were in Dorne according to the "story"? Ned did not bring their bones back indicates they are alive? Does Lady Dustin know?

    • @TheOrderoftheGreenhand
      @TheOrderoftheGreenhand  7 лет назад

      Thank you for watching and great question...I think Barbrey doesn't believe the story Ned was selling about it and that is one of the reasons she's still appears to be genuinely mad about it 16 years later...I do believe that Ned's men died in a fight with the 3 kingsguard at the TOJ...I just don't believe it was over them guarding the tower...I think it is far more likely that it would be over something like Ned's men wanted to tell the man they just fought a one year war to put on the throne about Lyanna being pregnant with Rhaegar's baby...Ned thinks back on all of the men who were with him in a positive light, which indicates that they were honorable men and would feel honor bound to tell their new King what they know, at which point the Kingsguard would draw their swords in defense of a legitimate to those they swore they would protect...the idea that 3 of the noblest knights in the 7 kingdoms would attack the would-be uncle of the yet to be born baby they were sworn to protect is ridiculous to me....why would they be fighting as was described in the books...the 3 kingsguard basically decided not protect anyone with that senseless fight and they didn't even have any real reason to be fighting to begin with...the bones never coming back is something that has bothered me for a long time...we have considered a scenario where Arthur would have killed Ned but for Howland Reed being a separate situation from the situation depicted in Ned's dream and it was really a fight between an angry brother and the man who married another woman after marrying his sister and that all of Ned's men except Jory's father are alive and Jory's father died protecting Ned from Arthur or something crazy like that but we could never prove it without having detailed descriptions of the guys he was with to try and match them to someone serving in one of the free companies we meet in the story or something like that...but in all likelihood, Ned just had so many things he needed to deal with at the time that getting their bones home had to take a back seat...he potentially had two wives with newborn sons to deal with, a conspiracy to figure out a solution for and arrangements that needed making in order to make it happen, as well as about 50 other things and he had just finished a year-long war

    I've been bingewatching this playlist and now it's 4:15 in the night.....
    You guys are making more sense with every video, I'm even starting to believe a+n=j (which is the only thing I'm still not sure about) but Mance = Arthur feels like a fact to me now.
    1 question though, if all these important men know about the war to come, and preparing together, why do they do it in secret? Stannis, Jeor, Eddard, Illyrio, Varys are all very important and powerfull people, why not just tell the realm? Maybe you're going to talk about this in a video, because I'm not done yet!
    love the content

      +Gerben Ferwerda the realm sees the North as a superstitious bunch of weirdos who worship weird gods and it would have likely fell on deaf ears and they (or at least some of them) are members of an organization that is sworn to lead and are a big enough organization that they don't need everyone else until the time comes

    great video as always.
    but I have a couple of questions:
    1. this comes from the show when melisandre tells gendre that she was a slave as her mother so how is it possible for her to be or related to Shiera Seastar?
    2. if stannis did know that Mance is Jon's uncle and that Val is his sister then why did he offered her to him? what if jon said yes and married his twin sister??!

    • @TheOrderoftheGreenhand
      @TheOrderoftheGreenhand  7 лет назад +1

      Thank you...
      1) She never says that in the books, so I can't tell you exactly why...in her POV chapter, she mentions Melony and Lot 7 twice, which a lot of people think means she was a slave, but I've read those two passages about 50 times each and haven't yet figured out what exactly she means by it
      2) Stannis almost never asks a question he does not already know the answer to...we think he was testing Jon, like seemingly every other character Jon meets does over the course of the books, and he passed, like he always does, which is why he's the hero and worthy of the office of sword of the morning

      Kamel Zyadeh For # 1 Could be Melissandre was talking metaphorically when she said she was a slave. Meaning she was a diligent willing servant to R'hllor just like her mother before her who was also a willing dilligent servant/slave to R'hllor. If you look up the definition for servant one of the synonyms is slave.

    If Garth Greenhand really lived 12,000 years ago, either everyone alive at the time of the story is his descendent, or no one is.
    Every person has 2 parents. Every parent has 2 parents. Every grandparent has 2 parents. I don't know how the numbers would work out in Ice and Fire, but in the real world, you find that progressing that back about 2,500 years, you far exceed the number of people who have ever lived. In Ice and Fire, the human population is smaller, meaning that figure might be more recent.
    What that means is that everyone alive back then either has no descendents, or is the direct ancestor of everyone alive today. This would be true even of people in Essos, so long as a single person descended from GG was there long enough ago or longer to be the ancestor of everyone there.
    The concentration of his blood would vary, as some people would have only a few of his descendants in their line and others many, but everyone would be his direct descendant, even people in southern Sothyros, given that there are 9500 years for a single descendent of his to make it there.

    • @TheOrderoftheGreenhand
      @TheOrderoftheGreenhand  7 лет назад

      yes, a lot of people would have some of his blood, but there would be more of it in some families when compared with others...the families of the reach would have quite a bit, but it seems to me that the Starks would have the most

      Really? Can't wait! Another question I've had since coming to believe the CotF are the 'villians' is why are the Reeds seemingly so close with them? Are they really helping the CotF to destroy men? Are they being manipulated? Are they doing the manipulating? The Reeds have always been a big question. Your videos really make it stand out... I couldn't help but notice Howland Reed wasn't an unlikely ally.

    I always thought she was a child of the forest, or at least had their blood in her ancestry. The "blood of giants" that's allegedly in Hodor's veinsi believe to be Dunk's - therefor she's the one in Bran's weirwood vision. The short woman slender as a spear kissing a tall man on her tiptoes.

    Something's troubling me about the theory that Jon is Ned's only true-born son. There must always be a Stark in Winterfell. Would Ned leave for King's Landing and send Jon to the wall, leaving no true-born Stark in Winterfell? Or does he know enough about this saying to be confident that it's the blood that matters rather than a more abstract notion of legitimacy?

    • @TheOrderoftheGreenhand
      @TheOrderoftheGreenhand  7 лет назад +1

      the magic doesn't know what surname Robb should have...he has Ned's blood, and that is likely all that matters

    Are the Baratheons not descended from Aegon I bastard brother? Also, the Daynes and Valyrian features. Surely that makes Edric Storm and Jon Snow special because they have a mix of Valyrian and First Men blood

    • @TheOrderoftheGreenhand
      @TheOrderoftheGreenhand  7 лет назад

      Why would kings blood for ancient blood magic be valyrian? There was never a king in valyria

    • @Anthony-eg2pj
      @Anthony-eg2pj 7 лет назад

      The Order of the Green Hand I don't think the blood of Valyria is particularly special. I was just raising the point that the Baratheons likely have more Valyrian blood (as descendants of a Targaryen bastard) and are not a good source of old men blood

    • @TheOrderoftheGreenhand
      @TheOrderoftheGreenhand  7 лет назад

      it just makes more sense to me for it to be Garth Blood...he was considered the King of all men everywhere, and he was clearly magical, with his stories representing him as a borderline fertility god...having his blood be they type that makes Mel's bloodmagic spells work best seems too logical to ignore in my opinion

    Since Garth Greenhand lived 12,000 years ago, basically everyone in Westeros would be his decedent by this point. Minus Dorne, and Wildlings. In real life Charlemagne is an ancestor to most of Europe. In fact. The most recent common ancestor of every European today (except for recent immigrants to the Continent) was someone who lived in Europe in the surprisingly recent past-only about 600 years ago. In other words, all Europeans alive today have among their ancestors the same man or woman who lived around 1400. Before that date, the number of ancestors common to all Europeans today increased, until, about a thousand years ago, a peculiar situation prevailed: 20 percent of the adult Europeans alive in 1000 would turn out to be the ancestors of no one living today (that is, they had no children or all their descendants eventually died childless); each of the remaining 80 percent would turn out to be a direct ancestor of every European living today.

    • @TheOrderoftheGreenhand
      @TheOrderoftheGreenhand  7 лет назад

      I've actually been to Charlemagne's castle in Aachen. It is very likely that Garth Greenhand's blood is in a lot of people in westeros but the introduction of the andals would diminish the southern bloodlines Garth blood purity except in the noblest houses of the Reach who tend to marry each other more often than not and the Starks who have never married out of the First Men bloodlines of the north. None of them are pure but those bloodlines are more likely to be the "best king's blood" for Mel's blood magic

    • @babybalrog
      @babybalrog 7 лет назад

      I thought you were making a point that even Davos would qualify, because if he does, then so does basically everyone. I think you're right that Starks have more magical blood. Wolf Dreams, Worging etc. Until Mel uses different spells based on different blood, I'm sure how to quantify the relationship. I do really love the idea that "King's Blood" isn't targaryen.

    • @TheOrderoftheGreenhand
      @TheOrderoftheGreenhand  7 лет назад

      He does qualify, but members of those houses work better which was why she was so pissed because he has Garth blood on both sides of his lineage

    • @babybalrog
      @babybalrog 7 лет назад

      Right, but if Davos can "serve" his king by helping Mel make shadow babies (or something less powerful), just because he has a "touch" of kings blood. Then they could just round up anybody on the street and set them to the fire. By now they all have Greenhand's blood.
      I'm still working through the rest of your videos - up to Faceless men - and really loving it, but a point you make in those videos is that anybody who dies near a Weirwood tree is going to make a contribution to the collective knowledge of that tree. That doesn't seem to require king's blood. So is there really magic in King's blood, or just in blood, and Mel is the one adding the King to the formula. Danelle Lothston bathed in blood, not King's blood. Then there is the end of Book 1, where Danny tries to save Drogo. It just seems that blood magic is getting more complicated then just, blood of Garth Greenhand.

    • @TheOrderoftheGreenhand
      @TheOrderoftheGreenhand  7 лет назад

      I don't think the tree requires Garth blood...and I think the greater amount of Garth blood a person has, the better Mel's magic works...she can do magic with lesser Garth content, but it isn't as strong...its a little more complicated than that but we haven't gotten to our Garth video yet so I'm going to cut it off there...and I don't think all blood magic works the same...Mel's king's blood magic is not necessarily the same spells Dany tried saving Drogo with
