Country is not bad music don't judge it. All music has a meaning of a story behind it. When it comes to reacting to music no matter what kind music it is always keep your mind, heart and soul open. There is so much different types of music I listen to. If you can't feel, understand, know the meaning of it or relate to it in anyway then it's not music.

I'm sure you noticed, but every time he hit his runs, they were each different in tone.
I've never been a fan of country. I even had a bumper sticker on my first car that said "discourage inbreeding... ban country music" with deformed smiley faces all over it. However, this song has me questioning everything. I love his voice and his style (and I already know this is a cover... but he made it his own)... he is amazing. I will have to dive a little deeper into this guy. I am already fascinated by his talent.

I hate how they label him country. It is basically old school Rythym and blues, soul, and just a dash of country. The instruments are basically your standard country sound/tuning/effects, but playing music not normally associated with country. It gives him his own sound. Almost like a country filter effect over R&B. Does that make sense?
It is like when punk rockers started playing Ska and Reggae. They played it with a Punk guitar style, no reverb, and punk drum tunings with a dirtier sounding bass. So you end up thinking "oh, well this just old ska and reggae, but played faster, harder, and noticeably Punk .
Actually, Rage against the Machine is an example of this. It is legit rap and hip hop, just with a metal/hard rock filter sound....
You should check on the new Chris Stapleton album it just came out last Friday, he's my fav non rap artist by far.

I come for the rock, but this is a good song. Noticed one of the other commentaries wants a reaction to a Brazilian song. Brazil has great music and you'll get a lot of fans, but there will be some who'll want Brazilian subtitles. If you like soul and jazz, check out Ed Motta's songs in English. Do a search for ed motta love ("Do you have other love?"), the (ao vivo) versión. Very smooth and jazzy song. Sepultura's guitarrista calls him a musical encyclopedia.
