Personally very happy to see Carlos win his first Grand Slam at Roland Garros!
Carlos is massively impressive and so much fun to watch. He is a natural prodigy with skills that make you go wow! So many achievements by age 21.

@@jeffreykaufmann2867 As a Spaniard I'm an Alcaraz supporter, but we need to read stats properly and not cherry pick. He is the youngest with three majors at 21. And that means only that. Rafa had a Davis Cup at 18 and then three majors at 22. At his peak, Rafa was way better. Let's see what future brings.

Carlos is the most well rounded 21 year old ever. US Open, Wimbledon and Roland Garros, 3 different surfaces. I believe he is the greatest 21 year old, looking forward to watching his career.
There's Sinner and Ruud both great players. Expect Sinner to win many Grand Slams and Ruud will break thru soon.

He made some finals and didnt capitalize- matter of fact he had opportunity to beat Alcaraz in 2022 US OPEN AND be #1 player in the world and he chokes!
@@leonardobraynen1524 Ruud, is a solid player, but not sure he can get any better considering he's 25 yrs old. I think Holger Rune may be a threat in the future. His game is explosive. So is his temperament.

Carlos is that versatile that winning the GrandSlam a couple of seasons barring injury and how his opponents adapt to play him of course, might actually cut the tally down. Already winning on all surfaces at 21 is mind blowing. The summer here in Australia next year will be interesting.

I am particularly mad at the commentators on DSTV (Sky Sports) for the entire close to 5 hours, there was always a reason why Alcaraz won a point. Even when he broke Zverev to love. One of them commented that he did not know where that came from. At a point, when Zverev won 5 games in a row they were so sure Alcaraz had lost it. In the last 2 sets that Zverev only won 3 matches, they were unusually quiet. This kind of commentary really has to stop. Djokovic endured it during Federer/Nadal's era.
Alcaraz - great achievements by 21, not doubt. But Look at Borg's achievements by the age of 21. 2 Roland Garros, 2 Wimbledon's, 1 WCT Final (a defacto major then).
There's Nadal and Federer both achieving breakthroughs young. Joker would have achieved it very young but was in the golden era of Federer vs Nadal.
The drop shot that Carlitos can deploy is a real weapon.
He is still a little behind 2007 Rafa as far as titles. But he is catching up.

Whose game does Carlos Alcaraz most emulate? It's my humble opinion that Carlos's game is a blend of Nadal's physicality and Djokovic's movement. Carlos doesn't reflect Federer to me. Federer, like Edberg before him, was a ballet dancer on the court. Every move efficient, elegant, and seemingly effortless. Carlos is not this type of player. No one currently is. Like Becker and Rafter, because their games were so physical, I didn't think Nadal's career would be as long as it was. He proved me wrong. Alcaraz had growing pains. He cramped up during matches. These days might be behind him but only time will tell. In order for Alcaraz to have a long career he must prioritize conditioning above everything else. Only he knows what his body needs to perform at peek performance for the next decade. Congrats on his French Open win 2024!

A lot of guys have missed their window, with the emergence of these new guys.
The truth of the matter is Alcaraz was destine to win the French Open even if he had lost to Zverev in the final. I watch how he played on clay in 2022 when he won Madrid. I think he would have won it last year if he didn't get cramped against Djokovic last year in the semi finals. His game is not even developed yet thats why most of his grand slams wins are going to 4-5 sets in few years he will be unplayable.
Think it's like Gill Gross said Alcaraz was neutralizing his 1st serves with moonballs.
Becker won back to back Wimbledon titles by 18yrs old so id say he was more of a young prodigy that alcaraz, though he probably didnt achieve as much as you'd expect throughout his career and I expect alcaraz to reach double figures
Carlos is building his legend. But he has a funny way of dipping in set 2&3 going down 2-1 then storming back to take the last two sets. He did the same thing against Sinner which IMO is the best player in the world right now.
Nadal 2008 was better than this Alcaraz. But let's see how the rest of this season goes, if he wins W or US... Could be.
Nadal was 21 from June 2007 to June 2008, im pretty sure he would beat Alcaraz at Wimbledon and obviously at RG.
So id still go with Nadal as the best 21 year old ever.

Zverev’s forehand has always been a weak point for him. He was also spraying some on his backhand as a result of Alvarez’s variety.

Sinner and zrev had to fire power to beat him but Zrev absolutely choked that 4th set away
Nooooo way in their prime would Roger novack or Rafa won a 3rd set to be up 2-1 and choked off that 4th set ( unless they played one another) zverev should have told himself during that 3rd set break im going to serve hugeee and get most of my first serves in and put this match away

Sinner also does not have a killer mentality like Carlos
Carlos movement is awesome and great shotmaking skills but I still say Zrev and sinner has the game to beat him more often than they don’t if the were mentally tougher too sinner still should work on his fitness

I picked Zverev to win this tournament from the start. But now I have to say that I have totally lost respect for Zverev. Not because he lost. But because after winning the third set to come from behind he couldn't muster an ounce of fierceness or passion to even give the fourth and fifth set almost any drama. There was no change in his demeanor after winning the third and no change in his tactics and no change in any instinct he might have to put the will and desire onto the court. He choked and hang dogged the match away. This guy won four straight games in the third and after that looked like he was going to lose. And he did and that's that. Can anybody else tell me if he ever even felt that this might, and probably is, his last chance for a major? I didn't see the desire. Sue me if I'm wrong.
You are probably right. I didn't see Zverev going for his shots with the same aggressiveness & intensity as Alcaraz 😕
Much the same as Sinner, who also seemed to give up in the last two sets. Both Zerverev & Sinner are capable of beating Alcaraz. Was the FO jinxed?
agree 1000% Carlos was not playing on a Rafa prime level ( his fans think so but it’s not true) sinner and Sasha both have the game to beat him but they don’t have killer mentality that’s why they both lost
Sasha should have had a knock you out mentality in that 4th set with that serve he has. He went out weak and that 4th set is the reason he lost the match
