- We've all been using ChatGPT like it's a glorified search engine. But it's not. In this video, I'm covering five ways I show ChatGPT to my friends. First, we'll dig deep into solving an irregular formula in Excel. Then we'll have a chat with Aristotle about ChatGPT. Then we'll get startup advice from Steve Jobs, Bob Iger, Esther Perel, and Doris Kearns Goodwin. We'll plan a day in New York City (to show how specific context helps GPT-4 respond in very personalized ways), and finally, we'll cover Fit Coach Pro and custom GPTs to demonstrate sustained context.

This is, by far, the best explanation of chatGPT I have seen.
Whoa, high praise! This is just the beginning. Planning a lot more.
he sounds like he shoved a carrot up his behind. sounds like he's applying for a job as a news presenter.
You thread the needle perfectly by between education, humor, and intrigue. Big fan.
none of which he he did well. probably needs to take the stick out of his rear end, as he ironically sounds artifical
Exactly what I was thinking!
the dude seems , ironically, artificial
This is lightyears ahead of every other video I’ve watched on this subject in the last 18 months.
minus a few lightyears
the constant fapping over his plastic gadget hero was enough for me to tune out
I’ve never commented on a YT video, in over 16 years of being a user. This video was worth it.
The irony is that your comment is worthless and added nothing of value
I have seen many comments like this. Is this a trend or something? 🤔
@@Itsallaboutthis123fake engagement to bump up the search algorithm
@@tracerman The account is 3 years old... Which, is less than 16.
That sounds crazy
Damn this is an incredible video ❤
Thanks, Ali! Big fan of your work - this means a ton coming from you.
As an older person who knew very little about chat GPT, this has been amazing. As I would’ve used it the way search engines had trained me, to be vague. Whereas naturally I’m a very detailed person. I think I’m gonna love this.
I have used it as a professor to learn how to code and I am also use it as a language teacher as I am fluent in Portuguese, but my Portuguese is far from perfect. I use the voice chat option on my phone, explain that Portuguese is a second language and I want to practice and we have a conversation about various topics. After about 20 min of going back and forth I ask it review our conversation and point out any errors I need to work on.
I absolutely love this, and find myself doing similar things with Voice all the time - but I’ve never thought of doing it for learning and improving on language!
Because you don’t pause for laughter, I keep having to rewind! 😂
You sound like a very kind, open minded person. I truthfully wish I knew more people who were like that, especially on the Internet. Thank you for demonstrating that there are still some nice people out there.
This is one of the most important videos on ChatGPT I’ve seen so far. I enjoyed the presentation, the examples and the summary. Thank you!
I appreciate your content. It’s not so serious that I get bored, but it’s not so whimsical that the message is watered down. 👍🏾
This is such an incredible video! Totally hits the spot on how to actually utilise these models rather than asking questions which yield answers regurgitating marketing blog posts.
This video is the one of the best demos of ChatGPT and presents some really interesting use cases that helped me to see more possibilities using ChatGPT. The content is unique, relevant, low level enough to trigger deeper thought but not so low as to require ChatGPT to explain the concepts. The pace of the video was also perfect imo. Thoroughly happy to have found your channel today and looking forward to more content.
Thank you for posting this and putting it into context with the Steve Jobs quote.
I struggled understanding why people have gotten such poor results and I was chalking it up to them using it like an oracle, but I knew there was something else I was missing.
This is one of the best videos I have seen on the "better" use of ChatGPT. I am currently working on a book "In Conversation with AI" and using ChatGPT to create it. It is absolutely amazing how it responds when you ask very specific questions. Well done McGuire.
The quality of delivery of this guy is unbelievalbly good. Top tier content
The only video on ChatGPT that I’m sharing with my family, particularly those aged 50 and above.
Why 50 and above? Just wondering as I'll be 50 in a few weeks and wondered what you meant by that?
@@MarkBowenPiano ah, most of the family I have who's above 50 are a bit set in their ways with Google and...most of the internet. They need to see this so that they could utilize it, too:)
@@paul.ignacio Oh okay. It's just that I grew up with the first main home computers that came out and have been using computers and technology in everything I have done since then so consider myself to know a lot about them. Maybe 60-70 I'd understand as they'd probably have been older when computers really first started to go mainstream and so wouldn't be as in to them but don't knock us middle aged people (I consider 50 middle age as I want to live to at least 100 😂) as we do know a lot about technology.
@@MarkBowenPiano haha sorry, yeah, not all 50-and-up folks, just mostly for my family :) Most of them are/were in very traditional jobs :)
I use chatGPT as an all knowing oracle in the form of a person/mentor/teacher. This helps me better interact with it as I can have a conversation and tell it about myself and have it give more personal and useful information.
I learnt how to invest my money, how to prepare for a specific interview; it even gives good questions they may ask and can help you with your mock interview practice.
About 6 months ago I told it to create me a script with the dry humour of the guy from webflow. It could not do it. This is why you are a comedy genius. Love your work.
You might be the smallest channel (in terms of subscriber numbers only) that I've ever subscribed to and it took just one video. Love the detail, enjoyed the information and every second was perfect. Thank you.
Its really surprising to see someone take a topic that already has tons of videos and gives a perspective which no one has ever thought of. Simple but so useful and effective. One of the best on chatGPT 👍
Please make more videos like this. Very helpful mix of specifics, practicality, creativity and big picture explanations.
I was expecting you to have 100K+ subs until I saw the sub counter when I clicked ‘subscribe’. You deserve it, keep up the good work!
THIS! This right here! The best explanation of what ChatGPT is
I’ve made my own GPT chef based on my family’s likes and dietary needs. I can ask it for a weekly menu and and shopping list. A business plan advisor GPT. And a social media content advisor. 😊
Video lived up to the hype, great insights!!
Great intro video to this new tool (yeah, it’s still new!). Your capacity to teach, summarize and not get carried away is impressive.
It's like adapting from learning from looking things up in encyclopedias, to learning by using google. This is incredible. And also scary.
Incredible video McGuire.
I've been using chatGPT for some medical things, my wife is pragnant and I literally used her reports to understand what exactly is happening, even he read silly bluured ultrasounds with 90% accuracy, if not 100%, it gave me the understanding of various things related to ultrasound, and pragnancy stuff.
I've been using it to understand the work-related issues, and things that sounds very complicated turned out to be really simple.
and yes, CONTEXT is the key. But I'm gald we're living in the era with so much going on for the better.
Thanks again for the lovely video, and Eagrly waiting for the new one, as steve jobs said, "we tend to fall back into our old habits". ;)
I use it for data analysis, brainstorming ideas, as a psychiatrist, copywriting and many more other things.
It's like your personal assistant, that can help you with ANY intellectual task.
As a 64-year-old guy I couldn't really figure out how I could benefit from Ai. Looking for exactly this type of channel. Thanks RUclips and McGuire.
That’s great to hear! Thanks for reaching out, and stay tuned for more!
Incredible video... Loved every minute, every example, every explanation. Many thanks!!
Brilliant way to get me thinking differently. I am a time management coach and ChatGPT has blown me away already with what it could do, but I was sure that it could do even more if I learn how to create better prompts and find additional ways to use it. I am currently testing creating a goal setting AI assistant for my clients and students. Thank you! Subscribed.
Your commentary on the prompting is refreshing. More content like this please
This is without a doubt the best explanation and example of the useful capabilities of ChatGPT that I've seen yet!
Like many others it seems this showed up on my suggested feed and I wanted to stop in and give you props on such a high-quality and well delivered video
You are charisma personified my friend. This is my first video of yours I’ve come across. Subscribed. I look forward to seeing the growth in your subscriber base. I’ll get back to you shortly when that 14k is 140k with a congratulatory I told you so.
Wow, thank you so much! That means a lot. Cheers!
Wonderful explanations! Thanks.
This is absolutely brilliant. Thank you. Insightful, funny, witty, and informative.
Ah, so good to find you online! I first came across you in the webflow tutorials, and love the way you talked and explained and your videos. Glad to find your own content now!! See you around!
Same, I thought this was a Webflow tutorial for a split second 😆
”Being Swedish enough” made my day. That made me hit the Subscribe button 😅 and also I loved this video.
Super helpful, thank you. I’m just starting with this tool today, literally. This is a great start to understanding how to approach it
This was enormously insightful! Thanks for making this video and sharing that portion of Jobs’ speech.
Great description and great content.
I have several GPTs created
- business profitability
- Google sheets functions
- Google app script coding
- upcoming European vacation
- golf equipment
It’s an amazing tool, but like anything delegated you can only expect 80% accuracy and it’s on the individual to dial in the last 20% be that with drilling down the result with GPT or by your own means. Can’t just blindly assume AI is the end all, be all without infusing some common sense.
Love some of these examples! Thank you for sharing.
Very eye opening; especially what we can do with the potentials of custom GPTs. Thank you for the content. I'm gonna make big changes 😊
Thank you for the knowledge, Sir.
This was a very useful video, you actually helped me plan my Sunday with these tips. You deserve a sub :)
This was a wonderful overview and it really inspired me to explore chatgpt more as I can see it is so much more useful and interesting than I initially thought.
here before you have 10m subscribers. killer video, thank you for putting it this way. Everyone needs to see this.
Absolutely, utterly brilliant. Both you and ChatGPT!
An eye opener! Keep up the great work!
Brillant! I‘ve been using it with super basic questions esp. „RUclips video description for…“. But you‘ve brought clarity to its power of „It does what it says on the tin“…..CHAT! And it will respond with the depth of knowledge of multiple geniuses. Awesome 😎
This was an absolutely amazing video. Thank you so much. 🎉
Another masterpiece 🎉 your content is beyond great!
Holy crap - the webflow guy!!The only person with the ability to make a tutorial video entertaining.
How I have been using ChatGPT changed forever after this video. Can’t thank you enough.
Great video! Straight to the point. Really well said!
High quality video 😍, lighting, perfect focus, color, everything very pleasing to the eyes. Watching a second time to listen to what he said 😁. Subscribing 👍🏼
What a great way of explaining this topic but also applicable to anything that is new to us.
I make music with very little experience with music theory, basically enough to say I dont know it at all.
I can ask ChatGPT very specific questions about music theory, ideas for what key to write in and why I would use that key, specific questions about a specific setting in a tool within a DAW, etc. I basically use it to teach myself bits of music theory and how to write music better, while writing music. I can ask extremely specific questions that it would be almost impossible/ take too long to find by searching it online myself. Its a very powerful tool if you know how to use it!
This is really great, man, thanks! Excellent breakdown of ChatGPT and its possibilities for practical, useful applications.
Great video, extremely accurately produced!
You can also input your OKRs, provide timelines, add time periods of 1 week and ask it to produce a Gantt Chart.
No way! I must try this out. Thanks for the tip!
Congratulation!! Thanks for sharing. The most important is on how much information you provide. I am doing a lot of research and Chat -GPT is an amazing tool.
You just went fron a jv QB throwing to the open man and jumped us to reading defenses and throwing to the man before he turned around to look for the ball like an NFL hall of famer. The power of AI combined with humanity's creativity is probably one of the coolest things to exist.
This is great but word of warning, that MyGPT’s don’t actually “remember” anything between sessions so there is no persistent data set it can draw from. This usually results in it going around in circles and repeating the same mistakes it made even earlier in the session or even omitting explicit instructions it was given earlier in the session.
This was very insightful! Thank you.
I totally enjoyed this video, got interesting insights!
the entire video is incredible, but the conclusion at the end is even better, i don t know what to say (i should ask chat gpt, lol) this video is just so good
Thanks, brannon. The techniques are nicely articulated, prompt engineering is important for better conversations. I learned to utilise and provide more efficiency in tasks and plans. Cheers! 🎉
Stunning quality, man
Stunning quality man
Educational videos filmed masterclass style, how phenomenal! Big fan since your webflow show 😂
Openai owes you, based on this I renewed my subscription. Great review
this is great content. Thanks. you have inpired me to think more creatively with this tool.
I love that at the start of the video behind him, it was daylight then it turned to night at the end of the video.
Great information on how to approach llms in general, thanks for posting.
You got it! Glad it was helpful
@mcguirebrannon I have been watching your Weblow tutorials for a few years now and you really know how to blend, humor, structured information and great flow. BTW, The webflow punchline that cracked me up the most is the one where you said : "you know, like a calculator, but without the attitude", 🤣I am still laughing at it to this day! Glad to see you talk about other subjects, you will get millions of subscribers in time, that is for sure.
Great video, really well explained!
I use the LLM to rewrite my messages, craft amazing feedback, and even brainstorm ideas about my ideal lifestyle.
Nice video, thx! I like talking to chatgpt about novels to deepen my understanding of what I'm reading. Stuff like historical context, but also asking what motivates characters to make certain choices, hypothetical questions like how would a character resond if something different happened at a given point in the plot. I can also stipulate if i'm only on chapter 3 and don't want spoilers. It might sound pretty basic, but it's much more focused and efficient than if I was to try Googling all this stuff separately (not to mention risk reading spoilers).
Great video, McGuire; I loved the technical aspects of the video and the ability you have to simplify the elements. I have been a tech fan all my life. I am an early tech adopter and help family members and friends get on board. When ChatGPT came on the scene, I was amazed. Lately, I've been consumed with learning how it can improve my personal and work lives. So many AI options are popping up that it's hard to make a choice without having FOMO later on. I am in my 60s, and I've never been more excited about technology than AI. Grammarly has assisted me with my work responsibilities and made such a difference. Your video on how I should be using Chatbots was very eye-opening. Thank you for helping me be more intentional with my use of great technology.
I love this take, and the FOMO you mention hits me every single day. There are SO many tools and so many AI models that it's nearly impossible to keep up. What we really need is an AI tool that helps us organize and choose all the right AI tools. 🥲
i been looking for the guy on the webflow videos for like 2 months now
glade I found you
Wow bro, this is by far one of the best (if not the best) videos I've seen on how to change our habits while using gpt. Isn't it crazy that we just go back to our old habits? Your humor was great, my 'Vegan' friend. haha
I have learned webflow from you. That was the most FUN learning experience that i have had
wow. very impressive and look forward to seeing more of your videos!
An excellent watch, thank you for your knowledge McGuire 🤜
Amazing content. Btw what gear do you use to shoot your content?
Only thing is I'd miss my search n research... And joy of getting things worked as you wanted... Sure is time consuming but often rewarding...
I’ve been waiting for this video!
This is phenomenal man. You made me a Webflow expert. Now you'll make me an Ai prodigy
Great video, will be sure to use the custom gpt a lot more.
amazing explainer video.
That was a phenomenal video..
Continue to put content out like this and you'll easily amass 100,000 followers on this channel
Bravo
Very thoughtful video
Great video. Thank you 👍
I loved this! But I wish all your demos were more like the 1st one, not necessarily an engineering problem, but still a specific problem with a specific objective solution (as difficult as that may be)
Reason:
My friends' feedback on ChatGPT is often something like - "I see the value, but I don't know man, it's just not good at anything".
It's such a subjective critique, I can't be sure they're actually making a good argument or projecting their bias for human effort > AI effort.
Personlly, I use ChatGPT everyday as an engineer, it's easy to see the value, I can optimise my prompts to generate a very specific response...that ultimately passes a test.
I guess I'm not sure my more social science/business friends are there yet. This video did not do it for them...but I loved it - I'm gonna borrow that steelmanning example - Cofounder GPT! Nice work!
Another tip for custom GPTs is to scroll to the bottom of the settings drawer on the left and uncheck "Use conversation data in your GPT to improve our models." This keeps your input data private and does not allow it to be used for re-training the model. :)
I enjoy the 1, to 5 model you use. (I understand the amount varies) But the visual of the little buttons is cool.
Thank you! It’s just a Keynote slide I’ve been using and improving over the years with built in animations.
"I have many teeth" 😆 Def did some actual lol-ing on that part and the vegan exceptions 😂. Love this perspective on AI and using context in prompts. Custom GPT's were definitely new to me. Very cool. Also appreciate the optimism.
Fantastic video that will be helpful to share with my team! ❤d the Office moment!
Awesome video!
