I travelled once on the jetfoil, but mainly on the 2359 ferry to Folkestone. Looking at it now it's like watching the future that happened 30 years ago. Thanks for sharing!
After many years of the Felixstowe to Zeebrugge ferry I had the chance to cross the channel on the Jetfoil, much excitement and got a seat just in front of one of the engine rooms. We sat in Dover, one engine started, the other started, then stopped, started, stopped. All off - jetfoil's cancelled and ended up on the ferry to Calais (which caused great problems for the people collecting me in Oostende...).
I am sixty this year and I went on this? "Jetfoil" a few times exchanging my ticket for the "Mailboat" to a "Jetfoil" for? Five Pounds Sterling what a bargain what an experience!!!! Great Holidays in Oostende as well.
Voor mij ook jeugdsentiment. Tijdens vakanties in Oostende was ik als kind twee keer per dag op de pier om de Jetfoil te zien vertrekken of aankomen. Ik kon er geen genoeg van krijgen.
I remember the Jetfoil very well, although I was only like 6, I have vivid memories of this, they shouldn't of stopped the service. Ramsgate - Oostende was much quicker, and better for the foot passengers. If I remember they replaced it with a Seacat service for a while.
@collieultimo U bedankt voor het plaatsen van deze video. In mijn herinnering was hij lager en gestroomlijnder, leuk om het weer 'ns te zien. Ik kan me nog goed herinneren dat er bij de ingang van de jachthaven een flitslamp was die waarschuwde dat er een ferry of jetfoil aan ging komen.
ongelooflijk dat dit toen al bestond. Zoveel jaar later zijn we erop achteruit gegaan. Ik heb het helaas nooit kunnen ervaren ook al heb ik in die tijd dikwijls met de gewone boten de oversteek gedaan. Leuke dat je deze video online zet
Prachtig se, was heel mooi. Spijtig da je ze nu nie meer hebt. Hun grootste fout was nie meer op Dover Western Docks varen; da was direkt in het station=aansluiting naar London

één keer de overtocht mee gedaan in 1984 uniek ervaring jammer dat ze snel weer verdwenen hier in belgie
