No offence to Australia, but the fact that nurses want to leave this country to work elsewhere because of the state we're in is a terrible indictment on the Tories and what they've done.
New zealand sounds like the best option out of the English speaking countries.
Rather going to Australia is an indictment of Tory mismanagement. Australia was where we used to send criminals and `undesirables`, now it's where we send our unwanted and unvalued. Surely this is a lesson why we need to value our doctors better?
Yep going exactly to the tory privatisation plan. Defund, demoralise. Cry crocodile tears about the failure of the industry they want to sell of. Sell off cheap to pals and donors. Laugh all the way to their off shore banks.
Only issue with Australia is age limit of their immigrants. I am passed it now so stuck in the UK with the kids growing up.
Torys don't care look at what they allowed P&O to do then there's the Gig economy the Barmy universal credit that topsup peoples in-work poverty wages. the list goes on and on and on
If the voters don’t care about her , why should she care about them?
Shes had enough of voters just clapping.
Me too. Was yet another distraction from what the government was really doing
But at least it now gives us one of the most well known examples of hypocrisy in public life that everyone is connected with.
_"The first pulse you check, is your own."_
I have had better treatment in my husband's country Morocco and their hospitals are so well run in comparison, ours are like war zone, you're walking around patients in corridors to get to appointments, not ok. The Conservatives have done this deliberately to create desperate situation so we go more private.
Completely agree but make no mistake a labour party under keir starmer will do little to reverse the damage done because the donors of the labour will doubt want privatisation as well.
@@liamgallagher3477 Keir is just a Tory in a Labour suit . However, Jeremy Corbyn was screaming this out of roofs! But than he was labelled a Russian spy and worse and nobody cared!
@@liamgallagher3477 Doesn't matter. Mismanagement must be punished electorally or you remove all incentive for politicians to serve the public's interest.

But Tories love free markets and competition, don't they? They should be proud to see their ideology in action 😆
I’m a (now) retired ex-NHS Consultant Surgeon.
For years and years, things got ever worse and more intolerable, such that I resolved to retire from medicine and the NHS completely, as early as possible. I left on my 55th birthday.
I was completely burnt out, my children barely saw me when they were growing up, my own physical and mental health suffered, my marriage in tatters and then subsequently over; I took a huge financial hit on not just my immediate income but also my subsequent pension forever more. But, I just could not continue.
My two-year younger, close colleague in my department did the same….two years later. And, there were multiple other colleagues also merely clinging on to get to a point where they could reasonably “go early” as well. This is the reality of what is going on.
This is not what we wanted to be Doctors for. It is very sad….if nothing else.
Im sorry to hear that. And the icing on the cake. Youre not allowed to transfer a NHS pension scheme. You couldve have had better returns with a sipp or financial advisor
@@abdulrahman31350 That's your comment? We can't retain doctors and you want to talk about their retirement. The icing on the cake isn't money, it's having to watch patients needlessly die daily. All thanks to the tories.

Aw!!! What's the matter, your pension is only £45k a year instead of £60k. You Doctors think you're the be all and end all of superiority.
@@sueyourself5413it's 100% about money. Are ukranian doctors going to Australia?
Same here, a Spanish Operating Dpt Assistant, over 45 yr experience, working well after my retirement because I loved my work and felt all that alll that experience shouldn't go to waste. Now, with all the dirt thrown at immigrants and immigration in general, strikes and toxicity, I'm afraid I've given up work, returned to Spain to enjoy free time, late mornings and all that goes with retirement in the knowledge I now live in a civilized country where the healthy pay so the sick are looked after, the old to educate the young, the rich to feed the poor, etc. Shame about patients. Sorry.
Sorry to loose you.take care.
Enjoy your retirement. Let's hope your country doesn't get Tory pigs in power.

Left the UK 10 years after being fed up with the education system. Got recruited to work for a private school in Japan. In that time was able to get my own place and earn 30% more than what I did back in the UK. I’m loving life here, I don’t have to worry about living month to month.
This is actually spreading to every aspect of British life because of the Tories; we are losing valuable experience. The NHS, Schools, The Police, and even the military are all staffed by junior and inexperienced people. The country is falling apart.
Your comment is 100% accurate. I see it with my own eyes every day I go to my work. Essential public services have been systematically run down by the Tories in the last 13 years and the country can no longer function.
The Tories should never be allowed to govern ever again.

Australia is not politically ideal but the class system is less pronounced here, and it is at the heart of all Britain's problems. As the country's economy declines, the refusal of the gentry to give up their trust funds and privileges to crushing working people to dust.
There is a certain irony that our most disgusting export- Rupert Murdoch- is indirectly propping up our health system.
The care, compassion and humanity that my Mom received in the last stages of her life was truly humbling. To think that the people who provided that care are being treated in the way that you first caller mentioned makes me ashamed of my nationality and my Government.

The story about the man with end stage cancer was horrifying. My son is a senior nurse and some of his work involves something horrible like this. One of his friends has already left the uk for Australia and this sort of thing is happening all the time.

I happened to hear that interview live this morning. Such a harrowing tale! What is almost as sad is that the great British NHS is pervasively being destroyed by this Tory Government.
I hope i am still alive in 10yrs time, but i dont believe there will be an NHS around to care for me if i fall ill.
That'll be 40yrs of taxes all for virtually nothing.
I’m a Community Nurse considering emigrating to Canada or Australia. If I don’t I’ll leave Nursing altogether as I have had enough. I love my job but I physically cannot give anymore, there are just too many patients and not enough clinicians to see them. I feel like I’m rushing through patient visits, task nursing they call it, something I loathe, and in order to give each one appropriate and patient centred attention, I go without breaks, finishing late every day. I’ve had no time off since December 2022 and am exhausted in every way possible. We received a bonus from the Gov in the Pay Deal, but what they didn’t tell the public is most of it was taken back by the same Gov in tax and NI contributions, for their salaries and benefits. 😢

LIFE IS SHORT. I'm a Brit living in Austria. Doctors, Nurses GO, STOP WAISTING YOUR LIFE. A Nurse in Austria gets €55,000 a year "WITH OTHER BENIFITS".... A Nurse in the UK? £25,000.....
To quote the great Zarah Sultana 'The trouble with clapping is it doesn't pay the f*cking bills'
In the world of the Tories just shove an extra student or two in next year and problem solved. Retention matters because unless you retain staff the problem is just going to grow.
My cousin is a nurse, she moved to Australia & never looked back. I know its daunting but go. You can always visit. Wish this lady the best. 😊
And today we learn a record 170, 000 others left last year ( another unwanted record) and all the government can do is claim it's nurses payrises as opposed to hugh business bonuses that will hike inflation.

That account of the patient... is this what human dignity has been reduced to by the government in a first world country?!
remember how developing nations went through brain drain? Where young graduates went to other countries like the UK because they got better training, education, personal development, and pay? I think the UK is now a developing nation because i see brain drain happening here.
The UK is a receding nation. All fixed. No charge.
Disgraceful how little doctors and nurses are paid. Their work is invaluable.

I don't even work in the NHS and I'm trying to leave too. The UK is in decline. And will get a lot worse before any semblance of 'better' happens in the future. All those people who voted for the Tories and Brexit - YOU will have to face the reality of your decisions. This is what YOU voted for. YOU broke it. So YOU feel the heat. But due to misplaced pride, they'll prob keep lying to themselves about how bad things are while this lady and others will just move to other places with less hassle that still work like a normal 1st world countries. Exactly they simply voted for the UK to become a sick man of Europe once again.
I dont blame the doctor who went to work in Australia on ur show.Ive seen/worked with Nurses colleagues and Doctors who got fade up with the current government and now decided to migrate to Australia/USA i meant lots of them. Torry government’s heavily relies on overseas and after 3yrs of them getting the knowledge and skill practices and now they all left nhs and went to work abroad. Homegrown staff and more funding to the nhs will stop exploitation! Enough is enough people in Great Britain have suffered and have lost healthcare morals!..
The lack of funding and poor management in the NHS is what's lead to it's slow demise.
Australia is heading south as Doctors are turning to bulk billing and are refusing to take any more patients due to the increasing workload and lack of financial support which current patients are more than likely being made to feel we're the problem for there demise in work and life balance being a huge burden. . Five years ago I could go to a clinic nearer to where I live and get an appointment without needing to spend 2 hrs by public transport and then have to wait up to an hour and half or more even with an online booked appointment to see your own GP or pay at a starting rate of $85 dollars for a short consult for just a prescription repeat for the 24/7 pain I have to endure. It's like you feel like saying to the doctor I don't appreciate being made to feel like a worthless POS cos your lifestyle has suffered since post covid.
But if you're recruiting more doctors with decent pay and working conditions, while we're doing the exact opposite, which one has a better future?
Thing is what do you really know about their life / home situation ???? A lot of us hide behind a facade……until we break down. I’m sorry about how you feel, but the doctors are not AI. Plus if someone makes you feel like that, you can tell them politely…..I mean that’s more useful than a YT a comment surely
I left the UK years ago.. the quality of life in other countries is so much better.. larger house.. better pay, money can buy you more.. why stay in the UK?
I Have Indian friends who came from INDIA to work here in the UK now they are moving one by one to Australia because of Better Pay. They only come here because its easy for them to apply to Australia from the UK.
Yes, lots are leaving NHS, it's not just doctors, it's nurses too. They are going to Canada, Oz, NZ, USA, UAE...I talk to them quite regularly and their reasons are interesting - it's not just better pay and conditions, and better quality of life - it's the push factors too - "Britain is depressing" is something I hear quite a lot, as we heard in this video too...
It's not just NHS workers. It's also Business owners. I have a company in the UK and in the US. One offers no income tax or corporations tax.

There physically are not ENOUGH people to do these jobs.
Yeah because it’s an unattractive proposition at present and people aren’t being retained
I left the NHS after several years working there. Was a Unit Medical Technician. Staff abused, patients left in pain, lack of staff due to conditions and pay. The NHS needs help before it's too late. Hope the government realises before it is too late. 😢😢😢

Remember how a decadfe ago people were warning that the tories would just defund until it doesnt work, then they would get the private sector in under the guise that the NHS cant cope.
They were shouted at for supposed fearmongering. It was a clear warning.
What a well versed caller that deserves success and happiness that unfortunately our government is just not focused on being a factor for medical staff in the nhs. Just bleed them dry in a dodgy transfusion of peoples lives
This is also happening with the police as well, their offering more money, more training courses, better work life balance hours, how can we compete, if it wasn't for family commitments I'd be gone
I can recommend Canada, myself.
I came back but it is a lovely country and only a 7hr flight, 10 if via Amsterdam (for the north easterners).
You need to be able to drive unless you stick to the expensive cities.
Canada is harder to get into for UK docs. It's possible but I'd basically have to restart my training again in Canada and they have a preference for Canadian and US docs for applications. Aus, NZ, and UAE are easier.
The UK did the same recruitment for nurses in Spain etc

GO TO CANADA !!!
CHECK OUT THE PROBLEMS OF ALLERGIES IN THESE OTHERS COUNTRIES.
JUST ANOTHER FACTOR TO CONSIDER, I WOULD MOVE TO ANOTHER PLACE!!!
Back in my pharmaceutical days, there was a process who you could use part of your budget in a target account to fund an extra nurse and/ doctor or at least fund some extra hours to improve the service. Invariably it never worked as the NHS would accept the new position but then would not fill any vacancies if one of the original team left. So nobody benefited.
Higher pay, daily essentials are cheaper, safer to live, better place to raise children, happier, better climate, on literally every metric. The UK is toast
Now read the Sun, Mail, Express ect. and think how wonderful they paint the tory party.
Where are the public holding the corrupt govt to account for the death of the NHS
never mind. Rishi will have plumbers and brickies doing their job soon enough
6:00 the key here is the Tory press will say it's a waste of time having a senior doctor sign off on stuff. It's "bureaucracy" and a waste of money and time. So they'll make the health service faster but less safe! But many people won't notice because they'll do it quietly. I'm sure they'll be up for something like that too.
Those that don’t support the nurses and doctors strikes need to be careful what they wish for. Would you want your mum, dad, son, daughter, brother, sister, wife, grandparents, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends receiving the best care or a compromised care just so the government can say they’ve cut costs? Those health professionals intervening to save and improve lives are providing a service you really can’t under value. At some point we will all need the NHS and I for one want the expertise and skills recognised and valued for the outcomes they produce.
I would love to relocate to Australia but I am to old (nearly 48) & even though I have a BA (Hons.) degree & Masters degree they are in a non-critical subject (as in there are no shortages) so unless I have $1million AUS in the bank I am stuck here in the UK.
Nah, 48? You are still a mere child.
I'm 61. Almost transferred to the Royal Australian Air Force from the RAF in 1990, but my mother became seriously ill...
Nobody is stuck anywhere, especially that so much work and business can be done online nowadays. I don't know why Brits don't think beyond Auz or Canada
I left a hot and humid country to come to the UK. I cannot see myself in Aus which much more hotter. Me and my wife are very much in demand there. But we cannot see ourselves moving with the kids growing up here. The US is scary with their guns culture, Canada is too cold and NZ is much the same as the UK. Things will improve once this Tory government are out and never gets back to power for the next 25 years!
Why dont people learn a foreign language and go to other countries and not just the English-speaking ones? I did and it is possible
If you can get a job in oz or nz you can get a work visa. I got in on points and a job. I'm in a non critical subject.

The US healthcare system is awful but I still got better care on my reservation than I did when I lived in the UK right after Brexit. When the Indian Health Services is better than the NHS, you know things have gotten bad.

I’m in Australia it is not all rosy here for nurses
Can't this doctor not just get a better job in the UK or work longer hours if she's not paid enough as the Tories have advised recently???
No doctors pay is standardised across the nation. There aren't any private A+Es either as far as I'm aware. Her only options are stay with what the government are offering, leave medicine and stay in the UK, or practice medicine outside of the UK
Pay is standardised, contracts are already 48 hours so if you work extra hours and make any mistakes you are legally in muddy water because you chose to overwork yourself
