I liked the Bus Processor
Very surprised how punchy that API is! Hmm, I guess I have to go buy it! haha! Thanks from grey & chilly, still, Ireland! ☘💪🏽👀👍🏽☘
Hey Sonny, hope you’ve been well!
@@BarryJohns All good over here, Barry! 🔥🧨💪🏽🤠👍🏽🧨🔥
Great comparison! I have all of these but I end up using either the API 2500 or the Townhouse. I find the Townhouse is a bit more gentler and the API is great when I'm mixing something a bit more rock as it has a tad more punch. All of these are great though.
API & Townhouse are my winners too. I also like the Ik Multimedia Bus Comp plugin. I love the GRIT button on it
@@DaMixWizard I have heard good things about that one too. I’m done with my compressor collection for now. The Townhouse has a smoother sound for my type of music but there are so many good ones out there.
Nice comparison video. I just feel you could improve it a bit by inserting the name of each active plugin (or Bypass) and level matching more precisely (I felt e.g. that the Brainworx compressor has higher volume than its predecessors).
Awesome video, thank you so much Barry! I am kind of curious which is your favorite one? Lately I have been switched to the distressor of UAD on my mix bus.
Who is this artist?
This was a good video
Right on! Love how you did the comparison with those plugins... Thanks for giving us an idea of how they sound in context with a great song. Still learning this mixing stuff and your right, the process is quite time consuming to download everything at the same time you showing us on a finished mix is a plus. Thank You for your Experience opinions, We Need Truth on RUclips not sugar coated bull crap. This Video is great I like how you mix things up.

If you’re gonna do plug-in videos, maybe feature one or two per episode and give your thoughts on them. Also, I will be using your affiliate link for future Sweetwater purchases. Thanks for the content!
API 👍🏾. Keep doing this
Keep doing what comes to your heart sir love the content!!! You can definitely come to the BBQ lmao!!!
Yeah, I need videos like this. Also you could show some mixing tips. You’re a trusted voice.
I've seen a lot of your videos but not many of them are actually you mixing or hearing what you've mixed. Would love to hear more of your mixes and maybe what you've done creatively in a particular mix to resolve issues or even techniques you've used to get a particular sound on an instrument or bus, etc.
I’ve done lots of videos like that. I have over 300 videos.
@@BarryJohns Ahh, I guess I haven't watched enough of them then. Thanks!
Would love to see move comparison plugin video's! This is the stuff that brought me to you, started with hardware.
I didn't get much out of this video. I like the idea behind it. But I'd need it to be much more clear about which plugin is being used when. Maybe you could show text on the screen that identifies each plugin as it is selected (for the whole time it's in use.) I realize that you are outlining the visual representation of which one's playing. That's not good enough for the likes of me. I'm not familiar with any of these plugins, and can't recognize them by sight.
Also, it would be much better if you'd comment (by voice-over between switching plugins?) what you think each one's distinguishing characteristic are. I'd like to know what I should listen for (notice.)
I appreciate your efforts in trying to do this. Thank you.
Did you not notice that each time a plugin was playing it had a color border around it.
@@BarryJohns Yes. Didn't you read my whole comment?
Well...?
@@notgiven3114 you’re right I didn’t read it properly all the way through. Sorry about that.
Was the track meant to be in mono?
Good video Barry
Good unbiased comparison. Thanks!
Comparing different attack and release time seems to be unfair. But API and Softube sounds spectacular. SSL sounds like garbage, all their plugins do (just for me).
This was not a one vs the other, it’s to understand they all go about it differently and that it’s important to know which one for which track. Also, they all approach attack and release differently, the same for other controls as well.
I’ve moved away from single band compression on the mix bus at this point. I feel like we’re in the age of really keeping the life and transients of a record while being competitive so I am normally using a Tube Tech SMC or some type of 3 to 5 band multiband compressor on the mix bus. Same settings on every band, but it just reacts and controls the music so much more musically and dynamically instead of a one size fits all approach with a single band.
Over complication destroys the master, that's doing to much tbh simple is better and always will be overcomplicating it becomes annoying. Nothing is wrong with a single band compressor you are just overthinking things.
Hey everyone just to make sure not to follow any telegram invite.
Not again🤦♂️
surprisingly I liked the Brainworx compressor the most great vid❤🔥
Great video Brother ❤️🙌🙏
A very good comparison Barry! Your videos are awesome, and we all appreciate the content you bring us! I frequently use the UAD API 2500, but wow the bx_townhouse sounds great! I will be getting that one for sure.
nah, this is not the type of content for you to make
I appreciate your input, however, if you read through all the comments, all the others are supportive.
I just got the SSL Bus + and it really sounds great. Love the videos. Thanks Barry!!!
Same ! It’s so versatile
@@dacidthorn Yes, It is so versatile and sounds so good!!!
Definitely liked this video! Would be cool to see more of your typical workflows and what you use the other daw’s for (I see studio one, logic on your dock there as well). But, it would be cool to see more of your daw and you walking through things. 👍🏻
Make this kind of videos, maybe with more level compensated so we can hear more the effect that the volume, but hearing is learning.
Throwing them all together and switching quickly is a helpful way to go about it.
Love plugin reviews and what situation you would use plug-ins in.
I like , but I wanted to know what differ from one plugin to another as you displayed them.
Si
The API & Softube Bus comps sounded great!
Hiding in the shadows of a world, so mean!😂
Uh what????
@@BarryJohns That's what the lyrics to the song that you were playing sounded like to me but I'm sure I'm probably wrong.
@jdl2180 nah, I heard that too.
Keep these coming!
SSL
On my mixbus I use various compressors all depending on which 1 sounds the best for the song. I have soooooooooo many plugins to choose from
Loved the video hated the pyjamas!
Say what?
IM THE OG TOO!
