    When it comes to having a trailer coach, i went and found me a Con-Cor P-54 coach (painted/unlettered) at a local train show. Already came with DC/DCC lighting, so i guess i lucked out there,lol.

    Your Doodlebug photo's brought back many childhood memories of working, motor-cars, that ran in 1940 to 1942 when I as a child of 10, lived those 3 Years in the Rented home my folk's had at, # 59 Thorndike St. Arlington, Ma.. You can bring up that location, and compare just how close the present MBTA Facility is located... About 1/2 Mile away.. My Pals and Me would go under, Mass Rte 2, using, " The B & M Bedford Branch ", rails to walk on... I would sneak down with pals to the, Small B & M rail yards located in North-Cambridge near the present day " MBTA Alewife Station "... Whenever that, DOODLEBUG type Railcar approached it was, quite Scary, Because the front was with Bright-Yellow Stripes with maybe a Black or dark-colored Background, and it was Silent compared to the Usual Steam loco's that passed often... We'd skip across those," Fitchburg-Branch ", rails and Watch, The-Remote-Contolled Switches, in Operation.. Now at age 84, We Sure were Lucky-Kids for Playing around such Danger.. Hope you find this comment of some Interest... Luckily for Me, at Age 12, in 1942 , mere weeks after " Pearl-Harbor "; my folks Bot a house at the Exact End of the " B & M Bedford Branch ", only a FootBall-Field away from the, 3 Stall-Engine-House where with my New Pals, We would often go in The Summertime.. My Dad took a morning train to North-Station all thru WWII.... Later my plans to become a, Locomotive-Engineer, Evaporated, when I arrived home from, " Korea ", in 1955, only to Find Steam was Gone and " RDC's" worked that Line.. I Ended up w/ " Ma-Bell " for 43 years, being hired under, the " Veterans-Preferred-Program ".... BTW, I sure wish They'd do that for These Kid's now Coming Home from " The-Services "... VTY Joe Damery < yob-1930 > If you Google, Joe Damery, You can see about my life and interests.....

    I have the Digitrax SDN154D sound kit.

  • @WWIIREBEL

    I wish they could make a sound decoder where we as the hobbyists could upload our own sound files and be able to change em out when needed. Pre-programmed sound files are great, but i'd like variety of my own additions too.

    I have changed many things on this especially the wiring for the interior lights as I use the sound side and the yellow wire and F-4. Also I use the RDC sound instead of the trolley sound,

    Which wires from the decoder were used that connected to the LED light strip? I will not use a coach on my Doodlebug. I want to shorten mine 5 windows less.

      Had to read my own note. I had improved the process using the yellow wire on the sound side of the decoder and then it works off F-4. I have not done any conversions for some time and took several naps so I must refresh my memory. Ted

      I need to note that at this point in time I was using the Trolley sound, but then Digitraxx got the RDC sound which is more like the Gas engine.

      @choochoo3985  4 года назад

      Hi Peter. I have this series of converting the Doodlebugs and Part 2 is DOODLEBUG 2. If you watch this you will see how easy it can be. Please note I mention the glass at the end. That is the windows; make sure the tooth pick is between the glass and the frame, not the shell as the glass has the notches that mate with the frame. If you need to replace the motor I have one. They too are a pain to remove as you need to turn the truck to get it to come out. Be patient and gentle, but firm. Good luck. Ted

      @@peteredmunds5925 I can't tell you how many projects I ferreted over a new conversion for fear I would fail. However once I got into the project it all worked out. After that I found ways to improve not only my process, but the item as well After the first Gas Turbines I had the lighting and speaker system where it worked great and really gave a prototypical appearance. The same with my RDC's and Doodlebugs. Just take it one step at a time. You will do okay. Ted

      The Doodlebug and coach were on E Bay and the SDH164 from yankeedabbler.com. I order them they program to the specific locomotive I need and they do this as a free service. They have sounds, not on the Digitrax menu. I have done a lot of business with them and recommend them highly.
