College. It’s expensive for everyone. The average cost of attendance for an in-state student is about $110K over 4 years. The average price for out-of-state students, however, is much higher. Much… Much higher. About $180K. And I’m an international student so it’s even more expensive for me!
But I have a dream. I want to go to college to get my bachelor’s in music, and master’s in teaching. From there, I will tour a little bit, gain experience, and open my own music academy. It’s gonna be a school where students are taught how to actually make music: come up with ideas, and arrangements, how to mix their songs, master them. They will be offered mentorship and guidance, and help with branding and promotion. Basically, all those people who want to be musicians will have a place to turn to.
So I started thinking, how do I make enough money to go to college in the United States? It would take me about 40 years of saving every penny and not spending anything to save up enough money for 4 years of college. Because the annual salary in my country is about $5,000.00 a year. After spending 6 years trying to come up with something that could make it happen, and failing every time, I think I finally got it.
