Great recovery story - As a recovering alcoholic (28 years) that benefitted greatly from AA I've not benefited from GA. It's a shame, but at least our local chapter of GA is very cliquish and unwelcoming to newcomers. I always felt welcomed and respected at AA. I personally don't think the 12 steps of AA can be readily applied to every addiction. Alcohol/drugs are a mental and physical compulsion. Gambling is purely psychological. That said, if any gambler benefits from GA I say more power - gambling is a bitch addiction that requires massive action on many levels to overcome from my personal experience.

What's wrong with all these anonymous programs. You can never do what got you into anonymous again. When you tell people never, they aren't going to make it.

It states that you do not talk about others or things you saw or heard at a meeting it doesnt say anything about sharing your own recovery if someone chooses to be public about their story that is their business. All anonymous changed once the internet came out and AA and NA and every other group got a website and started sharing recordings online. Thats why all these are first names minus the ones that choose to share their own last name first.
