Very nice demonstration of the integration of the OF1400 into the Festool system. Using the MFT/3 and the dust collection you demonstrated cutting extremely accurate dados, rabbets and stopped cuts. Notice the lack of dust, especially the fine dust that is so dangerous for human pulmonary systems. Thanks, you have given me an impetus to use my OF1400 with the MFT to create sliding dovetails. Thanks again.
Hi- Thanks for the video. See you messed up the edge finish at the first angled dado. Putting a sacrificial scrap will provide support when approaching the stroke end avoiding the tear out. Cheers
It is only messed up if you intend to have the cut edge on display. If it is a flush or overhang covering it you do not care. Again down to the person building.
Hi and thank you for getting back to me I will definitely put what you said into practice as soon as I get set up. I had another thought- if I were to make a stopped grove like a flute and I purchased the two stops for the guide rail so I start and stop where I want, as soon as I move the rail to do another grove right next to the previous one- if I don’t put the rail down correctly in other words not to high or low on the work piece or the next grove will be slightly higher or lower than the last. How do I avoid this? Is there a stop available to locate the rail at the end of the work piece? Cheers Dan
Great Chanel can't wait for the new videos! I was curious on where you got your inspection or plans for your cabinets behind you. Love how you included your woodpecker tools in the doors!
i know Im randomly asking but does any of you know a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb lost my account password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Alfredo Gage I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out now. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
marinermonty Thanks. The grey hose is a generic 36mm hose I got to supplement the 27mm hose that comes with the CTs. A 36mm hose allows more airflow and helps remove more debris/chips when routing or sawing. The 27mm hose is lighter and more flexible which is a huge benefit when sanding. I have since upgraded my grey 36mm hose to a Festool 36mm hose. It's important to note that the green Festool hoses are anti-static which means they don't attract sawdust or build up static charge in use.
I have the OF1400. I don't like the flimsy outrigger. I bought a piece of polycarbonate and screw it to the bottom of the router when using it with a guide rail. The router is not at all over the track/the router sits fully on the work piece yet it's level with the track because of the additional whatchajiggy on the bottom of the router.
I would love to pick your brain about your equipment. What video camera? What lighting? What camera slider? What video editor? What video compression software and what compression settings? Later.
hello, can i use the dewalt saw on the festool's track??dewalt has 2 track slots ,so maybe the second one (the further one) fits on the festool's track.thanks !
Hi great video. I think I get how to position the router on the rail and adjust up to a pencil line- but how do you decide how far away from the pencil line to lay the track? Also if I purchase the 1400- will this mid sized router work on the track with pin holes for cabinets? I’ve only seen videos using the 1010 model. Cheers Dan
Festool tools usually have markers so you can line up with your pencil mark. So you then move the guide rail which will also move the tool for you and line the tool with the pencil mark. It is the sort of thing you can only understand when you are using it as it is a little hard to explain.
It puzzles me why you stopped making more videos. Clearly you have some talent for making videos. Lighting is great. Automated pans and such are interesting. Why stop with only a few videos?
+panofish Thanks. Been meaning to make some new videos. Got busy with some other projects a while ago and my channel got put on the back burner. Stay tuned.
Please do, I enjoyed this. Particularly when you said you didn't use the micro adjuster. Usually don't get that sort of thing in Festool videos, where every feature of the tool is a "revolution" ;)
Beautifully put together bit of video Braden, thanks. Notice you're plunging in one pass on your dado cuts, is that an up or down spiral cutter you're using? I've been using a rail for fake T&G for the last few years, but hadn't considered doing dado work due to the amount of passes I normally use with a standard twin fluted 12.7mm bit.
Good video, but WHY do you have that horrendous music, if you can call it that, interfere with your own dialogue??? What a turn off. I came here to see the video and hear you explain the functions. If I wanted to hear music, I would go to a music station.

top notch video. I just attended the festool router class and this video is spot on with what I learned. thanks.
Just watched it again as a refresher. Very nice, helpful.
I enjoy the video production and information...I just ordered my 1400
Beautiful demonstration of a beautiful machine
Great video! Clear, Crisp and Professional! I want to see more!
Great video. Just got my OF 1400
Thanks for these uploads very informative
After you reposition the bit -- you need to lock the router down so the router actually follows the line. Video left that essential step out.

Great job…..thanks for sharing!

@Alfredo Gage it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my ass :D
@Omari Khari happy to help :)
Great video ! Could please explain what the difference is between the grey hose you use and the Green that I have received with my Festool 36E ?
marinermonty Thanks. The grey hose is a generic 36mm hose I got to supplement the 27mm hose that comes with the CTs. What kind of bit are you using ? This rail can be fit on a porter cable router ?
Beautifully put together bit of video Braden, thanks. Notice you're plunging in one pass on your dado cuts, is that an up or down spiral cutter you're using? I've been using a rail for fake T&G for the last few years, but hadn't considered doing dado work due to the amount of passes I normally use with a standard twin fluted 12.7mm bit.
What is the bit you are using to cut these dados?
Are your safety glasses prescription lenses? If so, what kind? I have been hunting for a pair. Thx. Nice video too.
How about a video on your homemade sysports
Jeez, the man makes a good video and so many have to freak out regarding the "loud music". Oh my god, it's so loud, I've lost my hearing!!!!
I totally agree. the music was fine to me.
Music was perfect, suited the videography and pace
Thanks !
Good video with good commentary spoiled by unnecessary background music.
Very nice instructional video! however, it's difficult to hear you through the loud music!
This may have been an informative video but it was totally ruined by the intrusive sound track.
Good video, but lose the music... it overwhelms your voice..
Good video, but WHY do you have that horrendous music, if you can call it that, interfere with your own dialogue??? What a turn off. I came here to see the video and hear you explain the functions. If I wanted to hear music, I would go to a music station.
it's not just that the music isn't in the background but your diction almost requires subtitles} okay for US listeners but unclear to me
take this music video down and put up a router demo instead.
Your annoying music is louder than your commentary!
