Andrew, I’ve just started watching your videos on RUclips. They quite brilliant and I enjoy your waffle!! Life is strange and we’re all at this moment in time a product of where we’ve been, who we’ve known etc. Your videos are thought provoking and relaxing at the same time. I wish you all the best and pray you stay motivated to continue making these videos. It’s as though this is what you were meant to do.
Yeah, I agree not a bad shot at all in the whole of the Vlog. Well done mate. I hope it all went okay whatever it was that he did or went through all all the best. See you next week.
Beautiful images as always. You have such marvelous places to walk about. And you are so right about taking mental health time. Just getting out to “play” with the camera is so so important and with no preconceived notions is when I find you get some of the best shots!
Oh Andrew, beautiful images again. As you said in the video, you “didn’t take a bad shot this evening at all”. I found the images inspiring. I do hope your day ahead didn’t turn out too bad, and I look forward to more inspiring videos soon. Best wishes, Pete
Thank you. There are no winners in the situation I am in - it's more a case of how much more I can lose. The day went as I had been led to expect it to I guess. Still here (it was maybe 3 weeks ago now) but still nothing resolved and multiple people's lives in tatters as before. Onwards. Hope everything is good with you.
Great shots sndrew as always hope everything eventually works out read the comments appears was as bad as you thought good luck and thanks for the great vid and shots
Beautiful location Andy and wonderful images, hard to actually say which one was my favourite, so all of them I guess 🙂you had a very productive evening, I hope you're well mate and keep up the good work.
6:16 The orchid ---- great result The mauve flower 4:32 Stunning image --- that is why I watch your photography ; you show us/all that a different angle is always worth looking for . That goes for most of your photos. 8:03 I had the thought that tree would be a good sunset photo Last photo --- "escaping plant" ; another keyword I have lol The mental health benefits from photography . I personally know what you are saying and totally agree (again :) ) ; been there done that. Actually that is how ended up with Olympus cameras. The little Em1 with a 20mm Panasonic lens got me out of the house and walking local streets without the feel of being at work. Wasn't doing the normal "street" photography ; I preferred "urban" photography with very few people . Helped clear the mind, put the diabetes on hold, and lost a fair bit of weight . I also re-learnt photography without all the zooming in and out gear. I often feel you would be great inspiration help to people with mind problems to get them out of the house and into bush/field/nature photography , or maybe art . So many have never been outside the city/towns into a totally less confusing more natural world .
Thanks for watching and for making me smile. I am not sure I will ever be OK, but we all live with some kind of trauma, I guess. The pain never goes, we just get better at coping.
Thank you. It takes a lot to please me in my own work, Keith. Yes, it's a nice shot but I am better than that. We all are. Low hanging fruit from my point of view. Strive to be better. I am not being dismissive of the shot, the comp is nice given the very limited time I had to find and make it and maybe I am being too hard on myself. My metric for most images is simple: if I was death-scrolling and saw this, would it make me stop and look? Yes it might, but not for too long.
Hi Andy great showing as usual. Keep pulling through whatever it is. A hospital consultant said to me a few years ago sometimes its one day forward and two days back but keep moving forwards. Good luck..
Hi, Andy. A very beautiful environment where you are. And the photos turned out really well indeed. And it is indeed important that you know how all the things you use work and react to certain circumstances. I'm still working on my 25mm to get out what's in it. What I mean is that with a prime lens, it is a bit more difficult to get a good composition. But I won't give up and will follow your advice by finding out exactly what I can make with my 25 mm. Good luck with what tomorrow will bring. Antoine.
Thanks, Antoine. Three primes - two macros and the 45mm f1.8. I barely use the 45mm. I really should get out with it and follow my own advice. The day (about 3 weeks ago now) was about as I expected, but could have gone any way. I have previously discussed some of my "difficulties" with you and it's related to that. It's very painful. I hope your pain is bearable. Take care Andy
Thank you. It's a long slog born of deceit, stubbornness, a smattering of stupidity and a healthy dose of being incapable of reasonable thinking, unreasonableness and a total refusal to communicate. Just one stage of it I guess.
@@AndyBanner your videos are very insightful without the strident preachiness found in too many RUclips presenters. I enjoy the thoughtful compositions and agree wholeheartedly that there is tremendous beauty in the small, quiet places.
Flower photography, like any other, has certain things that just make it work - a bit like any close-up imagery. Having a good tripod and a close-focusing lens are good starting points but framing, technique and so much more effort needs to be put in. It's also difficult outdoors because of the breeze. It's a technique-heavy genre for sure.
Thank you Andrew, love your rambles ,what lovely photos in a glorious English summer evening. What lens did you use to take the pink Vetch photo. Love it. Good luck with whatever it is you’re worried about.
Thanks again for a lovely video. I'm totally with you here - I get so much relaxation from a combination of camping and photography. I'm heading off to a campsite in North Norfolk (Near Kings Lynn) for 3 days of camping, picture making and re-setting - can't wait! :-)
Thanks Andrew. My usual “plan” is to plan nothing. I have a disability which means I have a tendency to fatigue. However, I am interested in photographing “interesting” buildings, waterside/boats, beaches/marshlands. And maybe having a sneaky dip/swim😊. All without having to drive too far😜 How does that sound?
Are you aware of the ruined church of St James? It's visible to the right of the A148 about mid way between the roundabouts at King's Lynn hospital and the next one North. It's a striking structure. There's an RAF Jaguar by the roadside at Tatterset. The Old Raf base there looks interesting but I don't know if there's access. Plenty of boats at Burnham Overy Staithe, Wells, Morston and Blakeney.
Andrew I'm really enjoying your photography you do have a wonderful eye and composition , I'm learning loads from your narration. Can I ask the lenses you are using? Let us all know your settings would really helpful In understanding your final photo, many thanks for your effort keep them coming mark
Many thanks! I stopped putting settings data on images a long while ago. It's really onerous in editing and has no tangible use to you (even though you think it does). Shutter speed might be the only exception to this, but anyone with a small experience of operating a camera in anything other than full auto understands the difference between 1/2 a second and 1/125th for example. When you also bring focal length and sensor size into the mix, ambient light levels and so many more variables, my settings become meaningless stats. And thats BEFORE we consider how the editing has altered things.
I think so.... I can't be sure which version I ended up showing. There was one that had just about enough dynamic range to do a lot with, but I think the shot here is a merging of three shots with a lot of additional work - as is always the case with complicated exposures like this.
Focus brackets are a series of image that are shot at different focal points which are then combined to give the image more depth, or to ensure overall focus in close-up work. As you get closer to a subject, it becomes more and more difficult to keep it sharp, (even by closing the aperture).so if you take a nimber of shots at different focus points, you can overcome this limitation. Combining the images is usually done in Photoshop or another application, but my camera can do it in body. Hope that helps. Happy to explain more if not
I do think you are quite brilliant. Awful day? Remember, no journey is ever as bad as you think it is going to be....in hindsight everything looks better!
You're way too kind. Yes, often the anxiety of doing something is far worse that just doing it. When I say often, I of course mean "always". Sadly, that knowledge does not prevent the anxiety.
Thanks. You already have seen me next week - in the kind of sense that I was inexpertly defining around that sunset shot. This was about 3 weeks ago now and I have actually put out videos that were shot after this as the timing of their content was more critical. Life and families can be very difficult to cope with sometimes.
Beautiful photos, as usual, Andrew. I love listening to you, and I love your work. I hope everything has improved for you. Cheers
