it didn't come up in the video but abigail also likes to hang out near the wizard's tower. i think that is sort of related to your point about caroline going there (limited activities in the valley) but also abigail's thirst for adventure. she's probably drawn to magic because she likes the idea of it, not because she has any relation to the wizard. great vid as always, sodor!
I think factoring in Pierre's former life as a boxer, it makes sense he'd be a little bored with domestic life. I'm guessing the reason he isn't a boxer present-day is that he had to quit due to some form of injury (possibly head related as he appears to have all his leg and arm functions and still can hit a good punch to Morris). I always took his "need for success" line to mean he had been undefeated before his injury as well. Pierre to me strikes me as someone who is extremely competitive, which first led him to sports... Then when that path in his life didn't pan out he took business classes to find a way to support himself and his family. His want to expand is probably less about the actual greed monetarily and more about him unfortunately being bored with being pretty much the main grocer in town and wanting to take on the big boys. The only reason he hates Joja coming into Pelican Town is because it's encroaching on his "Home base" and main source of income before he's stable enough to actually take part in that competition.
This is such great insight. I have a notebook of video ideas, and one of the ideas I have is to "defend" characters of common critiques, like my "In Defense of Haley..." video, and your comment makes me want to do an "In Defense of Pierre..." even sooner

I have thought about Jas being the Wizard's daughter before but I also find it disturbing. If it is Jas then just how much magic has been used to keep her safe? Have memories been altered? If the Wizard is Jas's father then who is her mother? I must admit there are times when Jas acts a bit more grown up. She does have some peculiar behavior. Unlike Vincent, Jas doesn't always act like a happy normal child. Jas behaves like she has to be proper sometimes and she is not always carefree. Yes, Jas isn't always a happy normal carefree child. If it turns out that Jas is the Wizard's daughter I feel that answering all the questions will lead us down a dark deep rabbit hole. I wonder if Concerned Ape has the conversation to tell that story? Personally I feel like Emily is the Wizard's daughter.
To be fair Jas is often playing alone when Vincent isn't there(godfather is drunk & working, moves out if you marry him, Marnie is busy too) & going off inspecting her room she knows about Marnie's secret relationship(Grandpa doll under the couch or something in doll house) so of course she's a bit more mature because she has to care for herself. That being said you do make a point about some speculation
While you do make a really good point, it could also be she just never met her parents and either Marnie and Shane lied to her, or Marnie and Shane had their memories altered and therefore told Jas the wrong thing
I would want to point out something more interesting - when he talks about suspecting that he might have a daughter in the valley he adds "it's rare but it happens". Having it said like this it sounds as if he's talking about a phenomena and not simply having a baby with a woman he hooked up with. As if his magic sort of seeped into someone without his knowledge or any conscious actions on his part 😳 Personally, I think that the villager, who seems to have some magic and fits this profile is actually Emily 👍

@@sodorart Right, the thing that I get caught up on is that the wizard says he might have a daughter in town, like he has a suspicion his wife was pregnant but not sure
What about the ever ambiguous hairy hippie Emily? Hair color is in the ball park and she had a thing for magic rocks. i deff think abigail is a red herring but i think it's caroline who is his real daughter. for me it makes more sense with the ages as i see the wizard as like an old man/grandpa age
Great video and interesting ideas. Nice how you took a look at a more famous theory that thanks to it being famous almost gets seen as canon. And yes Abigail works great as red herring. Seeing that her whole vibe and other likes are more described as alternative lifestyle pointing at her not being "normal" As for Jas who seems more like the usual child that likes playing with dolls and such. The hair fits but also that the ranch is sorta close by to the wizards tower. Yes we know he can teleport but maybe Jas moving there was not as much of a coincidence. The wizard pulling some magic strings so she wouldnt end up in the system after her parents died. Maybe he also placed some spells around the ranch or its close enough to his tower so that he can hide her magic energy from the witch while he may wait for said witch to cool down or talk it out.
Awesome insight! I also forgot to add that Jas likes to jump rope next to that big tree next to his tower, showing that she likes to be even closer to the tower
@@sodorart It could be a bit of "Hiding under ones nose". Like even if the Witch assumes the Wizard has a child she would not assume he would hide it basically in walking distance. Maybe its something subconcious that draws her to the tower. No active sensing of magic. Just a bit of "That place seems interesting.".
I never felt Abigail was the child the wizard was talking about. Abigail is a free spirit but she's kinda larpy and naive to me. A lot of the things she does feels like she does it mostly for her parent's attention, like she's rebelling, which is her right. She's highly idealistic and I think it's because of her age. I just didn't get the vibe she's really magical. Jas is a good fit, though. I often find myself asking..."what is up with Jas" when I interact with her. It was one cutscene when she got lost in the forest, and you find her and take her back to Marnie. Definitely gave me a weird vibe. IDK why.
Going off Pierre wondering if Abigail is his & Caroline saying Pierre can get jealous I think he might just be slightly self-conscious/jealous that Abigail likely only inherited his hair color when it's not dyed.(I also have trouble with facial features sometimes so I dunno if she supposedly inherited anything else) This is an interesting video & I feel it makes more sense that Abigail is a red herring. A part of me wants to imagine the wizard might take Abigail on as an apprentice though since she's interested & he admits he wants to pass his knowledge on to someone before one day allowing himself to pass on should it happen. Given what you mentioned maybe also train Jas when it's time to deal with her having magic. It'd be really hilarious if Abigail's hair joke came from Jas one time mistakenly casting a spell that made her hair permanently dyed. Yeah she likely is too young to use magic but it'd still be funny if she once got a moment of being able to use magic early & did this before never doing anything else until the right time.
I'm not sure if Abigail is a red herring, since we don't really have anything that connects the other candidates to the Wizard. As in, Abby is the only one that has stated/implied connections, while Jas or Emily don't really have anything that ties them to Rasmodius. It's likely a kind of Occam's Razor here, I think. And Abigail is more of a fighter than a mage-scholar. Meanwhile, Emily would make a great apprentice, since she is open to learn and can already perform some complex magic like enchanting or dream magic *(Stardrop power)* . Plus, she has some relations to mermaids, and Rasmodius has expressed notable interest in magical sea beings.
Doesn't Jas have dialog about having a nightmare with fire? This has always led me to believe her parents actually are dead. I think sometimes the simplest explanation is most likely - Caroline was restless, had an affair with the wizard. She's only semi-truthful about this. and thus is probably not truthful about Abigail's hair, which she might have dyed to conceal Abigail's heritage. Abigail herself says she hasn't dyed her hair in a long time, meaning her hair is naturally purple. But great presentation. I enjoy your videos!
@@TheAngelbase thank you! Yeah there's a rare dialogue where Jas can randomly say "I had a nightmare the house was on fire". But if you examine her Jack-in-the-box in her room, the description says "Jack-in-the-box is sprawled out, his arms bent at grotesque angles. His hollow eyes peer coldly into the distance." Which is just super creepy and weird. Unsure if her parents died via house fire or car accident, maybe, and how that was caused, and if it wasn't really an accident
I kinda just think that Concerned Ape finds Jack -in-the-box to be creepy. Pre-1.6 there was no indication of how her parents died, or even if they died together, but the mentions of fire in the new dialogue could be a, an indication that they died in a fire or b, a nod to the fact that many folks have made comments on how the hay near the fireplace outside her room is a very bad idea and a tragedy waiting to happen.
I definitely don't like the Abigail is wiz's daughter theory, and I'm glad you point out all of the flaws within it. I felt like it was really dumb given that Caroline flat out tells us Abi's natural hair color. This is a better theory, though wanted to share my thoughts here too. I always interpreted Jas' hair as black. In media, black hair is rarely ever black. It's usually a dark shade of green, blue, or purple. This is why, to me, the other characters with "purple" hair have black hair. With the Wizard, his hair is truly purple, not this dull dark purple (you mentioned Shane and Sebastian, who I always interpreted with black hair too). As for Jas' loved gifts ..... I imagine that Jas loves the Fairy box and the fairy rose because they're cute and magical. Not literal magical, but in the fairytale sense. Jas is a little girl, so be it real or fiction to her, she probably really likes things like such as princesses, fairies, unicorns, etc With the Wizard liking the fairy box, he sees the literal and real magic behind it. He doesn't like it simply because it's cute or falls under fairytale mechanics, but because of his interest in the very real magic of the world. As for the dolls, I think it was hit on the nail when you said she likes dolls. Whether she sees the magical properties within it or not is a mystery, but I don't think it's 100% intended. My theory would be that The wizard would find Jas to be suitable as his apprentice as he states, but that they have no relation to one another. Jas' parents are both dead, and we don't know why. That's fine. I think that the Wizard may have a different daughter in the valley or just not one at all. It's possible he thinks Abigail is his daughter simply because of the hair color, not realizing it's dyed. Or, he's simply mistaken altogether. While Wizard is a smart person within the world of magic, I feel like even he has some flaws in some ways.
Thanks for sharing your insight, great write up!! For the hair color thing, I thought the same thing too but a few people pointed out Morris' hair, which is a really dark blue, nearly black. I think that's ConcernedApe trying to portray black hair color. I'd love to ask ConcernedApe for a list of official hair colors for all the characters Interesting viewpoints on everything else, thanks for sharing !!
In regards to her gifts, I do think that it could be both that she likes them because she is a child and those are toys to her and also that she is subconsciously drawn to magical items. Between this the "dreams of fire" diologe and her jack in the box description I do think she has major "cursed child in a horror movie" vibe
"it's rare but it does happen" seems like a wild thing to say about your one daughter. maybe he means some kind of....I dunno. Magical fae baby? That could explain Jas's parents never being mentioned. And if that's true then who's to say it's not both? Por que no los dos?
I used to think Caroline was the wizards daughter. I think it would make sense but I don't know how old the wizard is. I always imagined he was older but maybe he's not so idk.
Shane and the Wizard I can see supporting Jas in magic, but given that Marnie wouldn't let her dye her hair or drink coffee (though I understand not letting a kid around 6-8 drink coffee) I think she'd be against the magic thing.
Considering Abigail WILL join you in the mines and her dads boxing history, it makes sense Abby is a bit of a fighter, which is why I married her, I love a fighty woman.
I still think its abby. She takes secret walks to the wizards tower, and for all we know Caroline's natural hair could be brown as well. I personally have a theory that the wizards ex wife cursed Caroline, and gave her green hair, because she was cheated on, and was mad at Caroline. Great vid tho!
@@bbpainter-main Jas is in the woods more than Abigail though, she jumps rope under the tree more often than Abigail walks to the woods. The traveling merchant also has green hair, almost the same shade as Caroline Thank you!!!
The one thing about the wizard daughter is I don't think he actually had to be involved in the 'making' process. I think he did something like a spell that had some sort of side effect. I'm sure Caroline wouldn't have cheated because of the dialogue but maybe just caught in the cross-fire of a spell. I like the Jas theory but the fairy is far fetch she probably just like the fact it has fairy in the name. Also the apprentice thing, I always hope it was kind of a scrap idea for us to be taught magic by the wizard but was replaced by the obelisk/return scepter because of gameplay issues (aka Concerned Ape couldn't find a way to naturally implement it in the game with a hotkey)
I doubt it's a scrapped idea, since 1.6 added another dialogue about the apprentice thing. "Every wizard needs an apprentice" or something along those lines. The one who'd fit the bill is Emily, since her use of magic is based on pure talent and intuition rather than trained. She'd be perfect for Rasmodius.
I have considered that Caroline and Pierre were struggling to conceive, and thus she went to visit the Wizard to seek magical assistance. Thus Abigail was conceived by magic - but not necessarily by an affair.
OHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO that make sense omg thank you for sharing the teory O M G 😂🩷💚💙 And it makes wizard a much better character at least for me. He seems like he would be a good father. I wish more more people will know your theory 😭😭
Tbh I kinda always wondered why Jas has purple hair. I’m also curious why Caroline has green hair, since she’s not a fan of Abigail dying her hair it’s most likely that Caroline isn’t doing the same, otherwise she’d be a hypocrite. So why does she just kinda randomly have green hair? Is it from drinking so much green tea? Lol
Unconventional hair and physical traits seems more common in the SDV world. - The traveling cart lady and Birdie also have green hair. - A lot of the nameless NPCs throughout the game have colored hair. - Emily never mentions anything about dying her hair, and she's related to the mermaids who have all those funky hair colors.
@ something I just noticed is that Demetrius and his daughter are the only people of color in the entire game. Only 2 blondes and 1 dirty blonde with Pam. 3 black hair but all of them tinted either blue or purple. It’s kinda weird to notice the ratios in the game.
Exactly! I think the next vid should be on the theory that Linus is Pam's ex who left her and penny because he felt trapped. (It could mean that he's trapped within capitalism) I'm unsure if Penny and Pam recognize him with his white beard and long hair.
Why would anyone want to be friends with Pierre? /j In all seriousness, I love this theory video! It's really nice to see that someone agrees that Abby's isn't the wizard's daughter.
Yes! Like if abigail was his daugther, he would be the dumbest people in the world. Like bruh, you f her mom not that long ago and didny even expect her to bear your child???
I Kind of Like this theory better, bc there is a monologe with Abigail where she asks with colour should she die her hair, meaning that she could have just dyed her hair in Purple. Also, i would argue to everyone who suports the Abigail, Wizzard theory after this video, that Abigails hair is a sligly lighter Purple colour, than the wizzards hair. He Hase a darker Purple hair, just Like Jas
well if it was jas then when caroline would go to the wizard's tower dont you think she would mention the witch? if the witch only left after his daughter was born or atleast after he cheated and considering we know caroline was in the valley before jas was born i dont think jas is the daughter i do think someone like emily (who is inherently magical in her events) is much more likely also making a void egg isnt the witch's only effect she can also turn all your slimes into black slimes

I mean noneone cares about the hair faiding process so making one in media is effort none has ever done... Which nonone also cares about the logistics of dying hair exacpt people wwho do it IRL... But in media people assume they can much like always having perfect make up or fancy over the top outfits... Like I bearly rember what my twin sister hair looks like with faded hair dye despite her letting it fade for months and years a few times... But do remember that her natural hair color has changed at different stages in her life and shes 27... Which if their wasn't any lore about Abgail dyeing her hair people would assume people with natural purple hair are a thing. And it's odd that no one in that core family has the same hair color despite it being very common IRL for families to go generations having the same eye and hair color... Also we don't know what the wizard's natural hiar color is and the comiunbioties head canon is he constantly changes his hair color like it';s modern RGB... Which given he has the magic to remake your character he may as well have no canon apernce just one he likes the most... Also caroline has green hair which isn't a natural hair color for human IRL. But unless she thinks Abgail is to young to dye her hair there is no reason to believe that humans in Star dew valley have the same natural hair color palate as we do... Also if it was intened for Abgail to not prefore a hair color why not just use a fill tool and guive her access to all the hair colors in game. And maybe more that she arandomly swaps atleast ever day but I feel if the swap needs to be a fixed date she could do it every season or every new year.... So it is supcish she has tghe same tasest of hair color as the wizard and she is willing to go against her paranets wishes but does't constantly have a new hair color... Also she never came across to me as rebeless for the sake of it... but more because she just wants to be herself... Which is very close to the wizard but in a child acting out way... Kinda odd considering she has no idea their is a wizard that her mom goes to see alot and doesn't want her husband to know about... Huh KInda like Caroline doesn't want her duaght to end up like the wizard which I feel is because she doesn't want Pireir to know... very odd considering it's pure projection on her part... But would it be if Abgail is carolines and the wizards daugter?
I dunno, Abigail eats crystals which is pretty weird and she does walk out and stare at the wizards tower once a week. I have another suggestion for Jas dad: Lewis. Jas have been at Marnie's at least since she was a toddler (there is a secret note photo to prove that), I think she is Lewis and Marnie's secret love child and she herself doesn't know the truth. Ask yourself: Would Lewis be so mean he hid something like that? I think he would considering how he keeps his relationship with Marnie secret and even screwing in a bush (yuck). We already know Marnie want to tell people but Lewis refuses so there is clearly going something on there. We do know Caroline did go to the wizard with berries often a year before Abigail was born, we know Abigail eat crystals (which is odd) and sleep with a amethyst under her pillow as well as she goes and stare at the wizard tower once a week but never dare to enter it. Meanwhile the evidence for Jas is basically hair colour and that she only knows her parents are dead or think so. But we also know that Marnie and Lewis had an affair going on for at least a while and we have a sweet picture with Marnie who does seem to treat toddler Jas as her kid. That isn't perfect evidence for her being Lewis kid but I think the evidence is still pointing towards Abigail. We also haven't heard anything at all about Jas mother, not a single hint and if we think we should have gotten someone unless the mother was someone in town. I guess the wizard could have had an affair with Marnie before Lewis but I don't think that is the case. . I don't think hair colour really is a super help her, If it does though, we do have a dead woman buried in the cemetery with possible blue hair: Mona, Shane's mother and Marnie's sister. While Shane's hair could come from his dad, it is just as likely that it is from his mum, so Marnie can have regressive genes for blue hair. Mona could also possibly be Jas Mom but I don't see why they would keep that a secret. So I don't think your evidence is compelling enough for me. Jas being Lewis secret daughter would also be a pretty interesting story. We can't rule either of them out completely and we do have a third possible candidate too: Caroline. Maybe the reason for Caroline to visit the wizard waas because he is her dad? That would pain Pierre in a very bad light since forbidding someone to see their dad out of jealousy is rather low but I wouldn't think it would be totally out of character. I guess Emily is also possible. Blue hair, weird new age magic.. If the witch is the mom, she is a possible candidate. But I think the majority of the evidence points towards Abigail still. Jas being Lewis and Marnie's kid is just my own personal theory I never heard anyone mentioning but you have to admit, there is some sense to it. Wouldn't it be a bit too much of a coincidence that Marnie have 2 dead female relatives with kids she takes care of?
Emily is most likely a relative / descendant of mermaids and has a strong connection to Stardrops (dream fruits that are a major aspect of mermaid legends). It'd explain why she's so magically talented, even compared to people like Linus or the Wizard who has been living that way for decades.

As if his magic sort of seeped into someone without his knowledge or any conscious actions on his part 😳
Personally, I think that the villager, who seems to have some magic and fits this profile is actually Emily 👍
Yes exactly! The way his ex-wife curses eggs, he could have accidentally "cursed" an already born baby. And Emily would make the most sense to me too.

Another random what-if I thought about was that if Caroline is the daughter of the witch somehow and the witch and wizard separated just before she was born
Oh wow, that's really interesting !! The witch could've left the wizard while she was pregnant and just never told him because they split, then had a daughter secretly. Wow!
@@sodorart Right, the thing that I get caught up on is that the wizard says he might have a daughter in town, like he has a suspicion his wife was pregnant but not sure
I think it’s also just obvious by their portraits alone. Both Jas and the Wizard have similar skin tones, hair colour and even eyes.
What about the ever ambiguous hairy hippie Emily? Hair color is in the ball park and she had a thing for magic rocks. She comes from a family that's rich and the parents are off gallivanting around the world while she and Haley stay in the valley. Haley fits the rich kid trope, Emily not so much. Ya never know.
@@thragtusk1490 I actually have a theory that she's a mermaid! I do think she has magical powers of some kind, but i do think her and Haley are sisters, since they do have a few things in common

@@fleacythesheepgirl They're likely diegetic, since Emily is super upfront about her love for dancing (she dances in aerobics classes and the Luau in front of everyone, after all). Her secret hobby has to be something different from normal dancing.
Plus, her dream and dance scene has the exact same purplish tint as consuming a Stardrop, which Willy confirms are related to mermaids.
One question was still not answered:
How can Abigail eat rocks?
She has pica
i deff think abigail is a red herring but i think it's caroline who is his real daughter. for me it makes more sense with the ages as i see the wizard as like an old man/grandpa age
This gives me "Halloweentown" vibes. Caroline being born to magical parents, but trying to keep her daughter safe and away from that life.
That makes SOOO much more sense!!
Great video and interesting ideas. Nice how you took a look at a more famous theory that thanks to it being famous almost gets seen as canon. And yes Abigail works great as red herring. Seeing that her whole vibe and other likes are more described as alternative lifestyle pointing at her not being "normal"
As for Jas who seems more like the usual child that likes playing with dolls and such.
What if Caroline is the wizards daughter?!?! I mean he seems pretty old
I never felt Abigail was the child the wizard was talking about. IDK why.
Going off Pierre wondering if Abigail is his & Caroline saying Pierre can get jealous I think he might just be slightly self-conscious/jealous that Abigail likely only inherited his hair color when it's not dyed.(I also have trouble with facial features sometimes so I dunno if she supposedly inherited anything else)
This is an interesting video & I feel it makes more sense that Abigail is a red herring.
Jas is a little girl, so be it real or fiction to her, she probably really likes things like such as princesses, fairies, unicorns, etc
With the Wizard liking the fairy box, he sees the literal and real magic behind it.
I'd love to ask ConcernedApe for a list of official hair colors for all the characters
Interesting viewpoints on everything else, thanks for sharing !!
In regards to her gifts, I do think that it could be both that she likes them because she is a child and those are toys to her and also that she is subconsciously drawn to magical items. Between this the "dreams of fire" diologe and her jack in the box description I do think she has major "cursed child in a horror movie" vibe
Finally a gamer that share my thoughts about this game🥰💐
Oh man, that means the witch killed Jas' parents.
"it's rare but it does happen" seems like a wild thing to say about your one daughter. maybe he means some kind of....I dunno. Magical fae baby? That could explain Jas's parents never being mentioned. And if that's true then who's to say it's not both? Por que no los dos?
actually makes so much sense
I used to think Caroline was the wizards daughter. I think it would make sense but I don't know how old the wizard is. I always imagined he was older but maybe he's not so idk.
It's likely her parents died in a car crash. For both to pass so suddenly and at the same time.
Shane and the Wizard I can see supporting Jas in magic, but given that Marnie wouldn't let her dye her hair or drink coffee (though I understand not letting a kid around 6-8 drink coffee) I think she'd be against the magic thing.
This is my new head canon
Considering Abigail WILL join you in the mines and her dads boxing history, it makes sense Abby is a bit of a fighter, which is why I married her, I love a fighty woman.
I still think its abby. She takes secret walks to the wizards tower, and for all we know Caroline's natural hair could be brown as well. I personally have a theory that the wizards ex wife cursed Caroline, and gave her green hair, because she was cheated on, and was mad at Caroline. Great vid tho!

Wizard is my favorite chacter

Unconventional hair and physical traits seems more common in the SDV world.

@@sodorart ooooh! that makes sense now! thanks for answering 😅
@@Mossy_Flower826 no problem!!
That isn't perfect evidence for her being Lewis kid but I think the evidence is still pointing towards
Abigail.
