Just to reiterate what lots of folks are saying, Rachel:
    1) Take care of you, we will wait
    2) Thanks for being so honest about your projects - it’s so relatable for those of us setting out in making things
    3) None of us expect you to make something from scratch the week after a con. I’d happily watch something like an “unpacking” video where you talk about what you wore, who was there etc. Same goes for storage/closet/barn/house/baking/chatty videos.
We’re lucky to get your content for free and we will love it as and when it arrives ❤️🧜‍♀️

I don't know how else to write this. I love your content and (what I see of) you, and this is why I want to communicate this to you, in hopes that it might do something good for you. You don't have to make a whole project in only a week. Seeing you rush the end of your creations, be anxious about deadlines, burn yourself out repeatedly, etc., is becoming the new normal and it should'nt.
We'll watch your projects come to life whether they take one or several videos to be completed without taking a toll on your mental health, and we'll be even more glad to see you not stressed out.
Please if you could consider this, we will love your content regardless of how many part I, part II, part III, it requires!

Hear, hear. Makes me sad how she starts all happy and excited about it and she gets more and more tired to the end. Rachel, we really enjoy your content no matter how much it takes. If you have real life stuff you need to take care of, just do it and forget about us and youtube for a while. Make a shorter video of "here is what I am working on guys, Ill show you more in next video" and we are happy to just wait. Your reveals are always interesting anyway, we WILLL come to see it even if its a week or two later. Kisses.

RIGHT!! It never ceases to surprise me how different my perception tends to be from rachels. As a fellow perfectionist, I totally understand constantly striving for something "better", but i really was impressed by the project. It was so creative; there were no patterns and very few reference pics. Even though rachel says she does better at replication, i wish for her to get to a place where she can take a moment to realize that she did a REALLY wonderful job, especially given that this was outside of her comfort zone. Learning new things is really hard but for what it's worth i thought this project was extremely well-done

I often mourn the loss of society's ability to create things just for the fun of it, and you bring us back to that element of making something for the sake of doing it, instead of making things for an Etsy shop or other external reward. So Rachel, YOU SUCCEED by NOT being perfect! We love your imperfection, and your willingness to FAFO with your projects. Doing it wrong is how we learn what not to do next time, which makes the next project better, while keeping us from taking ourselves too seriously. That's what I come here for, and reading the comments week after week I am pretty sure it's what the majority of your viewers come here for. Wallow in your experiments, dear.
Also thank you for the gratuitous Frodo footage, and leaving in the part where you accidentally spit on the camera and wipe it off. Hope the back-to-back doctor appointments were not a large source of your stress, and you are OK. You are precious to so many of us. Take care and enjoy what you are doing, even when you think it sucks.

Rachel, I've been watching your videos for years now. And I always come back because of YOU, not the success of your projects. I have been in my crafting/creating era and it's mainly been inspired by seeing your videos and watching you experiment and try. It's much more inspirational to watch your channel and listen to your candid advice and feedback than to watch any other crafting/sewing channel that doesn't show the behind-the-scenes, the struggles, etc. I just come away from their videos feeling overwhelmed and inadequate. But your videos open up thousands of possibilities while giving us a realistic view of what it's like. So thank you! Please take care of yourself, a lot of us are here for any and all of your videos.

When a creative project doesn’t come out the way you hope it would, it helps to think of it as a sketch or practice for future ideas. It wasn’t worthless to try even if it didn’t end up how you envisioned, and I actually really liked this video for its honesty (and also all the inspiration it gave me for my own Mermay drawings this month). Here’s to you and your health Rachel, and thank you for taking risks.

like many others. i totally think realistic timelines are "however long it takes to do it in a way that makes the creator satisfied with the result" however long that takes for a single project is however long that project takes. if you split the making of a project into two, four, or twenty videos over the course of a month, a year, or a decade, it will be a ride we'll all enjoy taking with you.
there are lots of makers out there who do this multi-video format, and i really enjoy it.
i'm not making videos with deadlines, but i am working on multiple projects at a time, and I put them down and pick them up as i have the energy for each, and no self imposed deadline has ever been met. case in point, i've been making a pattern, sewing mockups, and finalizing the finished details of nothing more than a numi undershirt knock off for 4 years. 4 years! i've had troubles with seam finishes, material stretch, my own body weight fluctuations as my health tanked half way through the project, and ordering material only to find out the material wasn't what it said it was (i'm looking at you nylon picot trim that completely melted into my ironing board after the seller assured me it was cotton when i bought it)
i know this is your job and your income stream, so there's more in the balance than just time. but we'll all happily sit down and watch mid rolls for update videos from you to ensure you're taking care of yourself.
TL:DR ... go at your pace. we'll be here.

    • @angelsinthewindow
      @angelsinthewindow 7 месяцев назад +11

@@SusanYeske701 Even if she did some propaganda movies, I wonder if she was really for what was going on around then. A lot of people forget that during times like that when dictators come into power, its either you go with it or you get killed off with the rest of the people they didn't like or were fighting back against them. Unless they were extremely high up in the chain, we might never know if it was a case of survival or if they believed it unless they have it written down and the records open to the public. (That does not excuse those that do crimes, but its something to think about.)
It reminds me of a movie I watched in high school though I don't remember the name, of a Chinese family during the start of the communist timeline there and how they went with the flow for certain things just to keep their family safe. They didn't believe in what the government was doing, but had no way to keep their family safe other then that.

That REVEAL. Holy guacamoly! The EPICNESS!! I know you said you hate it, I love it. It looks super sereen and creepy and delicate and frightening. I love love love this! Also, please don't burn yourself out. Maybe consider splitting those projects in two or three videos. Like one for the dress, one for the decorations/jewellry and maybe even a third for the makeup/getting ready. We will watch literally anything you put up here ❤

I love how this turned out! It’s like if Pirates of the Caribbean had a mediterranean sea dive. The more muted color scheme turned out so pretty. I know you said you had apprehensions about the results, but I see the vision and I think you executed well.
As artists, we never quite reach the image in our heads, but that does not mean your project fell short of beauty.

You really need to stop doubting yourself! The costume is stunning, the colours work within nature. The biggest thing is though, you need to stop worrying about time, life gets the better of all of us sometimes, just try and go with it. I love your projects (and would kill for your hair) Be You!

Rachel, I really value how honest you are with your audience. I also was plagued with self-doubt this week, even taking a mental health day (which I never do!) because the brain gremlins were too strong. Knowing I’m not the only one to feel that way makes the experience a little less terrible, and I hope you can take comfort in knowing that you brought ME a little comfort. ❤ Can’t win ‘em all, but let’s keep moving on, right?

I'd rather have you and yours be healthy and happy than see you stressed out. I have to say that I really enjoyed the reveal... I enjoy all of your content - successes, failures, and in-betweens. You show reality and that's more important to others who create. Failing is part of the creative process which, to me, is inspiring! We can all build upon seeing what does and doesn't work, it's a part of the community. It's all a win-win!

I just have to say it's been amazing watching Rachel's growth in her sewing and crafting. I recall a time when making something without a pattern wasn't even to be considered. And now here she is making things like this dress, draped and hand sewn. I'm just some youtube rando, but I'm proud.

Rachel, as a fellow artist/creative you are always so relatable. The fact that you mention struggling with colorways and making things work when you're designing on your own, and that you feel like you're much better at replicating things, it makes me feel so seen and relieved to hear you say those things. Just know, we love you, and we don't expect every project you make to be perfect. Thanks for all you do, you're pretty freaking awesome!

It was a really cool idea which defo could be revisited in the future I think!! Though, like others have said, definitely take your time with projects! The dress itself turned out really well - sew the back up and it's a great dress for a summer event/princess-y thing.
For colours and things... maybe go to your local DIY store and grab as many of those paint swatch card things as you can. ALL the colours, all the shades and tones. And just play around with them to teach yourself what works well together, what doesn't, what you like and what you don't like. I watch style channels and a couple of DIY channels and am learning what colours I like and what shades of those colours specifically. Not all yellows are the same, for instance. And it's not innate, you can learn it.

Rachel, firstly, you're hilarious. :) Secondly, please don't feel the need to rush projects and stress about deadlines, we really don't mind if one project takes extra long time or more than one video to complete. You are your own boss so you should take advantage of that and be more realistic and generous with how much time you give yourself to make videos, and how much time you take off (time off is very important, please take care of yourslf and your mental health, don't burn yourself out). We love ya! :)

I hope all the doctoring things are ok., or more specifically, you. The outfit was truly wonderful. l loved the webbed hands - the application of black to the dress, hands and sleeves was brillliant! Just the right amount of creepy. The ears were interesting - loved them for that! Given a little time, I know you would have gotten them where you wanted them, i.e. to be seen. Your mastery of what suits your amazing (if I may say so) figure simply amazes me. Your sense of humour, and as one person put it perfectly, your "hijinks" are what we're all here for, along with watching your skills and resourcefulness. May you have an easy flow week Rachel.

I wish you had had more fun with it. It had rough bits, but the hands, for instance, actually looked creepier because of the roughness and I was admiring that in the reveal. Great location, by the way! You are always delightfully entertaining and I think my favorite thing about you is your willingness to try things in full view of an audience, without being sure it will work out, without needing to edit it to a false perfection in order to look flawlessly capable. I think I am not the only one grateful for the reminder that the point is to have fun, and failure to achieve "perfection" is not remotely deadly. Thanks for giving my Saturday morning a boost!
