Full Poem:
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

My step father died in January, although he was not my father it felt like one, he was a gentleman, he gave instead of receiving, he was a rock, he loved us, i have almost no words to describe what he was, who he was , only that, men like him are very rare, why do the best persons in this world go early, and the ones who stay in this world are the bad ones?
i want to be like him, but im not even a sinch of what he was, he lived life, every bloody second of it, and on his last days he fought like no other, my respects to him, now he is with his friends, on the eternity, on those soft stars in the night, he is not anymore, but i hope he can be alright wherever he is.
Sorry for your loss. I know what it's like, and ponder the same question. Perhaps those who have more to learn here stick around longer, and those (older souls) who evolve (spiritually) beyond the average, move on where greater growth can occur. If you want to be like him, it is within you. It must be. The fact that you admire his qualities so much is a sign (takes one to know one). Do it for him/his legacy if not for you more importantly. As they say "When the student is ready, the master appears." I think it's also true that when loved ones leave us they're giving us the opportunity to become the rock they were.
@@Oneironaut9 I got goosebumps twice listening to the video and reading what you wrote💯💪✌
Son: Why do good persons go early?
Mom: In a garden of flowers, which flower you pick?
Son: The beautiful ones.

"It is not death that a man should fear, but he should fear never beginning to live".
Marcus Aurelius
This is so true!!! I’m not afraid of death.
Agree 💕
"Why should I fear death? If I am, then death is not. If Death is, then I am not. "
Epicurus
"Courage, however, is the best slayer - courage which attacks: which slays even death itself, for it says, 'Was that life? Well then! Once more!'"
Friedrich Nietzsche
My mother chose this poem for her funeral and she passed one year ago on this date. The fact that this came up a year later feels like a sign from her. She was a saint. I couldn't have had a better mother.
Sorry for your loss ❤
@@jantennyson8085 Thank you. I haven't felt as close to anyone in this life, but it could be infinitely worse; there could nothing beyond this life, but I know there is, firsthand in fact. (Can't get into here). There is nothing more important than understanding your eternal nature.
🙏
She Sounds Smart Hope You A Great Life Brother
It was the sign from your Mother. There are no coincidences. Stay vigilant, watch around and you'll see more of them .... Take care.
The real author of this poem is journalist & poet Clare Harner (1909.~1977.). The poem was first published as "Immortality" in the December 1934 issue of poetry magazine The Gypsy.

So powerful.

Thank you from a non native english speaker. With your videos I'm learning a lot of new poems with so much deep and knowledge that is constantly making me reflect about different topics of my life. Keep the good work!
Glad to hear they help!
I’m in awe of this poem. We loathe death for what it brings. The pain, the sorrow, the loss. But to internalize these words would be to change those feelings of despair into feelings of hope and happiness.
One of my favourite poems of all time. 🖤 “when you awaken in the morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush.” ✨
"I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow.. "
Marvellous depiction of supremacy of soul over body in our earthly sojourn.
CALMING!..COMFORTING!..THERAPEUTIC! for those who've lost( n who hasn't!?) their loved ones. Everyday I feel the all-pervading presence of my mother whose death anniversary falls on 29th March, throughout in the universe much like the profound lines of the great poem.
Thanks a lot for this highly uplifting upload!
We buried my wife's brother yesterday. I have never heard her weep the way she wept. All I could do was hold her and pray! He was a lovely, gentle, gentleman. The last time she saw him was just three days before, when she was told he only had hours.
I heard this for the first time at a memorial service when I was a kid.
My condolences to those who have lost family members or close friends.
This poem is a masterpiece.
Definitely.
Love this poem I read it at my mothers funeral 2013 😢❤ beautifully read with a warm genuine voice thank you 🙏 god bless x

My favorite of all time...since discovering this poem for my grandfather in 1998 I have insisted it be read at all of my family members funerals. There is never not a huge sigh in the room when the reading is done.
Interesting tidbit, Frye plagiarized it from Clare Harner.
The voice of the orator is tooooooo amazing ❤️❤️❤️
Such honor and understanding, thank you
These words were written by an illumined mind. Someone who understood the truth of being.

True Story.
It is indeed
Exactly... Agreed fully
I love it too! But why do you find it comforting?

"Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet.
Let it not be a death but completeness.
Let love melt into memory and pain into songs.
Let the flight through the sky end
in the folding of the wings over the nest.
Let the last touch of your hands be gentle
like the flower of the night.
Stand still, O Beautiful End,
for a moment, and say your last words in silence.
I bow to you and hold up my lamp
to light you on your way."
- The Gardener 61- Peace my Heart -by Rabindranath Tagore

For the living it’s not the dying that’s so sad. It’s the missing of the loved one and it feels so fixed to never see that person again. Nothing can bring them back is the painful part.
Enlightened. We are infinite, one with the universe.
I chose this for my sons funeral. Beautiful isn’t it xx
You have my condolences... I understand why you would pick this. These words are simple, but powerful. I would like this to be played at my own funeral some day.
This poem was spoken at my grandmother's funeral
@Redfrost Motivation but, that was it, that's the story, it was spoken at my grandma's funeral, I though it was beautiful, end of story
my fav. thank you.

today is my birthday 30.03.21
i dont know why i am writing this.
listening to this bittersweets words
probably did let me writing out my heavy weight on my soul.
i always was so sad hearing tragedys from other familys,or friends ,and i asked my self ,Oh god what kind of pain
do they have to go through,?
we are...we were three happy brothers and very close brothers.
the third one,our youngest brother went to heaven on his birthday,.at 03.02.21 in his sleep.
And our world colapsed
they say time heals all wounds
.Ours has stopped.
the powerlessnes and this inner pain, the defeaning silence consumes, every act ,every thought, every look.
nothing is as it used to be.
like waking up in a paralel reality
i gave a final speech when we
said goodbye to him,it ended,
with:
my lovely little brother.
you have been an Universe without
begining and an end .
a figure like a bear and big dark eyes of a child.
may you dance and fly with thousand beautiful angels, till
eternity ,discovering all the secrets of time and space.
await us.
we will love and miss you till our last breath, beyond time ends.
I love you little brother.“
I said may you Rest in Peace
when we said goodbye to you
but you are not that one ,resting in peace, you have never been,u are to curious and impatient for that.
i know you are on your Road .
while i am missing you and burning, writing this.
