    Rules:
    You need a garage to own a car.
    You can only own one vehicle per one garage slot.
    You need a driver's license before you can own a car.

    Always a pleasure to hear Sir James Deakin insights on traffic problems / road problems. Sana 2hrs talk hehe.

    In short: Car buyers are much faster than road expansion. If the current road can accommodate 500,000 cars, then tomorrow it got overloaded by 1million cars, when the road expanded to accomodate 2 million cars, there will now be a 6 million cars already, so road expansion is not the best solution. Road expansion project usually completes 3 - 5 years depending on how large it is, while buying a car can get you what? 1 day? 2 days? 3 days? So that is your answer.

    7:50 But private cars already have advocates. It's the politicians. Our default state of being is already to accomodate cars. We still keep adding tollways that just induce even more demand for cars.
    The reason why private cars seem to be the convenient scapegoat is because they are the only variable that can be manipulated very quickly. It takes around a decade to construct a new mass transit system. What do we do while we wait for the subways and new MRT lines to finish? We subtract cars on the road.

    Well-spoken. I really admire him. And he has spoken about traffic congestion and other road issues for years. He has spoken to senate hearings and has become a resource person on several occasions. Yet, here we are.

    ETCs in Japn are designed that way, you just have to slow down to 20kph and the barrier opens up before you reach it.

    In paris, their tourist and business districts roads were almost carfree by reducing carlanes in favor of bikelanes and walkways. This encourages people not to bring their cars and use alternative transport like walking, cycling and using public transport that occupies less road space and moving more people at a time.😮

  • @leonsano3207
    @leonsano3207 26 дней назад

    How about introducing carfree roads especially on narrow roads of the business districts. This is done in many european countries and it worked all the time for people to move around quicker to their destination and back.

    James is right, our government is ignoring the fact that our method of moving people is inefficient.

    another real take on traffic is
    E V boom is pointless in resolving the traffic problem.
    in fact, lalala ang problema ng traffic dahil bibili ulit ng kotse ang mga pinoy. Mas maganda na lang kung dadami pa ang traditional bus para sa mga tao at mas maganda pa yan sa environment

      Yeah. And the area itself is an example of bottleneck problem. Numerous roads intersect at Bicutan plus the complexity of the interchange itself.

    The problem with decentralization is that the rich and the big private conglomerates and its companies are not incentivized to relocate outside of NCR. Another is, unless private companies are willing to keep or change to a work from home setup (except industries that require face to face), people will not relocate.

Keep it up bro, nice to see you being well rounded (both literally 😅 and figuratively kasi media can lead you to many opportunities)

    Real Talk:
    Surely everyone using the cashless RFID Lanes or ETC on tollways observe heavy traffic build up at the Toll Plaza. It was designed to do away with slow human tellers manning these booths, right? Instead it has become the cause of traffic since motorists are still required to come to a full stop, then the Reader/Scanner detects your RFID and you wait for the barrier to open before proceeding.
    What if the Reader/Scanner was positioned 50 or 100 meters away from the barrier? You no longer have to stop, just move at the prescribed speed (say 60 kph) so that by the time you reach the barrier, it would already be open. Thereby preventing the "accordion effect". A simple solution practiced in other countries for ages, but unfortunately not here.

    • @justinlacas7866
      @justinlacas7866 2 месяца назад

      yes, here in Australia, you will see them positioned at the entrance of tunnels which is pretty much the only place you get charged toll rates given how progressive all the roads here are nowadays. Nearly everyone here has a car, but roads aren't as wide as you will see in NLEX, Edsa or Commonwealth (even freeways here are just 3 lanes at most) yet there isn't much congestion aside from rush hour (which literally is just an hour 5pm to 6pm) as many blokes try to head home from city works and even that "heavy traffic" is light work compared to Edsa traffic, kasi umuusad parin talaga. There's also speed and traffic cameras everywhere, you disobey the traffic rules here and you'll end up getting a citation through email few days later. Traffic here is so light, that when Waze indicates you're 20 minutes away, you really are likely to arrive within 20 minutes or less and that's covering 40 kms or more through freeway. Sa Pinas, 20 minutes isn't even enough time to get out of your own city.

    Improve mass transport. Congestion charges private vehicles on work days. Implement strict emergency lane. Good luck on weekends.

    Natira kami sa thailand for a few years. Napansin q lang pahkakaiba ng bts sa mrt. Simple lang. Maya maya may train. Sa mrt antagal ng hihintayen mo. By d time dumating yung train. Punuan na. Delikado kapa sa snatchers. Haaay nalang. Kase pati mrt ginawang nehosyo ng mga nasa poder? Anyone remember mga friends ni mar roxas n nag takeover nung panahon ni noynoy? Nung panahon na knacannibalize nila ung parts pra makatipid sa operation and repairs. Pero ang subsidy pala ng gobyerno. Tuloy tuloy lng n 50million pesos a month. I think i improve lang nila train systems. Damihan p mga lines. Both ubder and above ground. Malaki nga ang magiging epekto nun. I salute you sir james deakin for your advocacy. Pero not to be so negative naman. Without a change in our culture of corruptuon. Not much will really change. Wel all be just frustrated in d end.

    isa pang problema now is yung mga nag grab car, hindi naman talaga yung owner ang nag-drive. pinapa-drive sa iba with boundary system eh di parang taxi din. it destroys the concept also kasi dapat yung owner ang magdrive. tsaka yang UBER created a bubble kasi lahat ng shift sa pag drive ng UBER kasi malaki kitaan then suddenly bumaba na ang rate because of dividends.

    Masyadong maraming kamote riders and rivers sa pinas. Pati na rin yung mga tao na tawid ng tawid kahit saan. kahit may overpass na sa tabi nila, di pa rin gagamitin, kaya tuloy napipilipat tayo mag lagay ng barrier sa gitna ng daan which is nakaka dagdag sa sikip ng daan. Dapat talaga e enforce strictly yung ginagawa dito sa clark at subic na pag hindi sumunod sa traffic rules, automatic makaka tanggap ka ng ticket or mahuhuli ka agad.

    Need mo ng alternative road para mabawasan un Traffic, why kasi lahat ng may sasaskya dumadaan sa EDSA, un labas sa metro manila pumapasok sa EDSA, un mga nasa loob ganun din pmasok sa EDSA. ang laki na ng volume na may sasakyan, kailangan m ng more road elevated, di ba nabawsan un sasakyan nun binuksan un skyway, kung wala un skyway expected no EDSA pdin bagsak lahat ng sasakyan.
