Thank you so much for this tutorial it was super helpful! Probably a silly question but Im very new to crochet. With the bow part, after the chain when you start row 1 which part do you stick the hook into? The bumps at the back like for the peapod?
@@katehanna2108 not a silly question at all! You can either insert it into the back bumps, like the peapod - this will give a slightly nicer finish. But you can also just go under the top loop - which is a bit easier
Why is my pea seed so much smaller than my pod??? 😅 my tension is good idk if i should maybe add in some extra stitches rows into my seed, is that how i can make it bigger?? 😂
I'm using my 2.5mm hook and am running out of yarn! I cant complete any of the patterns you've put together, I have no idea where I'm going wrong! please help!!
@@emmashannon2366 Hey Emma. These aren’t my patterns - they’re Kmart’s patterns. I’ve just created tutorials to help people make them as the written instructions are so bad. And unfortunately I’ve also had this issue of running out of yarn - they just don’t include enough in my opinion. I’m designing my own kit at the moment and will be sure to include plenty of yarn! My only suggestions are to either skip some rows or to add some of your own yarn. I get it’s super frustrating, especially when the point of these kits is to include everything you need.
I’ve run out of green wool and I’m on row 5. This is the second time as I unpicked it the first time thinking I’d done something wrong. I’ve counted the stitches and I have 56. I don’t feel like the loops are to big. Anyone else have this issue
This is a common issue with these kits unfortunately. I didn’t run out of green - but I did run out of yellow. And I’ve run out with several of the other anko kits. So I definitely don’t think it’s you!
@@merinjames-f7u it’s because you’ll end up working both sides of the starting chain. So you start along the back bumps and then work into the other side of the chain stitches along the other side. It’s easier to work into the chain on the other side when you worked into the back bumps along the first side. Usually though the reason for working into the back bumps those is it leaves a nicer edge (but that’s not so relevant here)
Hello, I'm wondering if you can measure the length of the green pea pod from side to side. I think mine is a little to long right now and I won't have much yarn left. Also, how much yarn do you have left?
@@iLxnnya hi - my peapod is 13 cm along the bottom edge. I didn’t run out of green yarn, but I did run out of the yellow yarn. Unfortunately not including enough yarn is a common issue with these Kmart kits. If you run short of the green I would skip the second to last round.
@@mellowyarns sorry for replying late, but I finished my first pea only, there seems like there's enough yarn left, but I decided I will use some pink yarn I bought separately to do the second pea. hey!! just two things: 1. thank u so so much for posting this video!! youre amazing. 2. im only up to the 16 min mark of the video but i have a problem and would love some help. so far my green part of the pod looks much shorter than yours even though ive been doing the same number of stitches as u mentioned. and also mine is curved like a bowl shape (edit: rather than how urs is flat), the more i crochet it. i have no clue why and im not sure how to fix it, and i really dont want to start again. any advice/suggestions would help. thank you so so so much again!!!
I’m so glad the video is useful ♥️ I’m not quite sure what’s happening with your pod - but if you want to send a pic of it to mellowyarns@gmail.com I’ll take a look and see if I can figure out what might be going on.
@@literallyaddicted Hey - replying to you here in case anyone else is having the same issues. Firstly - great work for your first ever crochet project! So I think there are two things going on with your peapod: 1. Your pod is inside out, try flipping it through (see this video for what I mean: ruclips.net/video/S9sk5AEva-o/видео.html) 2. I think the shortness and curve issue is because your tension is tight - especially the tension of your starting chain. Tight tension basically means your stitches are tight because you’re holding the yarn tight. It’s a super common challenge when you’re starting out, and it tends to get better with practice. So I reckon the curve is because your chain was very tight but your tension is loosening up as you go (which is great, because it means you’re improving already!), but that’s why the top is bigger / looser than the bottom. The curve unfortunately won’t get better because the issue is the starting chain, but next time you can use a bigger hook than the pattern suggests for your starting chain. Also check out this video for some tension tips: ruclips.net/video/H6FuTHAxKAQ/видео.htmlsi=1vPGGzw36TGJ7OmW But your pod is still definitely salvageable. If the issue is your tension, your peas will likely end up a bit smaller as well so they should fit. And if they don’t, you can stuff them a bit less. You can also ‘block’ your pod - once it’s done, just soak it in water, then stretch it out to the shape you want (so just stretch the bottom more than the top), then pin it to some flat cardboard in the shape you want and leave it to dry completely). More info about blocking: ruclips.net/video/v0Hfu0byjxs/видео.htmlsi=1X0qiCF63Vfz1cxP Keep going, I’m sure your gf will love it!
