In the East Blue it seems like a lot of people’s favorite arcs are Arlong Park and Baratie. For how beautiful the Baratie set is, I do think it was underutilized in being a transition place versus being it’s own arc. In the manga/anime we feel secure in knowing who Sanji is by the end. I’d say the same for Ussop. In this it almost seems like both Sanji and Ussop are tertiary character to Luffy, Zoro and Nami. I think that’s by nature of western storytelling. Our storytelling reflects our culture and our culture is driven on the “star” of a performance or individuals. Because we like to make individuals feel special or important - that’s how capitalism makes money. In Japan, even the cinematography you’ll see a lot more shots with a lot more people in frame. There is a greater emphasis on the team or unity. It changes the way this story is told just because it is made by western standards. I personally think the biggest challenge in adapting something like this is our standards and expectations for things to be a certain way. Even with a successful season 1, I’m still not sure this type of story can exist in live action yet. I do think the younger generation is getting more surreal and abstract in their thinking and this is a step in the right direction.

Also, Mihawk's musical theme being flamenco is also a nice touch.
