I think its great how these early world war II games paid tribute to what war was like and made you understand the heavy costs of it. Nowadays they don't even care.
Another HIGHLY overlooked aspect of this game is how GREAT the OST is for this - and how well it's used and NOT over-used. The music FEELS like you're in a great, old school WWII movie. I even forgot watching and commenting on this video. This game STAYS installed on my PC no matter what. This and Allied Assault.
This game felt more realistic than any other call of duty or medal of honor games, part of that is there were never infinite spawning enemies and you see friendly and enemy medics, seriously does any other WWII campaign have enemy medics?
I think the biggest realistic problem I have with the game is that almost every Japanese soldier has the type 100 even don’t in real life it was extremely rare I think only about 1% of American soldiers/marines have ever even seen a Japanese soldier with it.
Couldn't agree more. The closest thing to this game is Call of duty World At War, but if this were remastered really well then this game would be my preferred choice for WWII Pacific theater games.

You KNOW these games are great because they're STILL fun to play and still look pretty darn good considering it's 20 years old.

This was my very first shooter games and it is still my most favorite shooter out of all of the shooters I was 7 when I first played this game and my lord it was so fking good This game as well as ones Medal of Honor allied assault and all of the ww2 games that came out during those times are by far the best war games EVER

Let's not forget that the Army fought with the Marines in the Pacific, It was a combined effort between the 2 branches and in many of the campaigns such as Guadalcanal depicted in game, Saipan, Guam and Okinawa the Army had many division that fought with the USMC like the 77th Infantry Division which gained the nickname the "77th Marine Division" due to high kd ratio against Japanese forces on Guam and the Philippines
@@Chtigga it was because of the lack of time. there was supposed to be british campaign in the world at war, that's why the pacific theater was short, which was interesting. however, they scrapped it in the final release as the british campaign were incomplete. the 3 snow missions were the only complete ones and the holland's unfortunately weren't.
@@Chtigga one thing that also made the cod world at war wasn't that great compared to the moh pacific assault was it's inaccuracies (ex. m1a1 thompson in 1942 🤦🏼) and the grenade spam (especially the blowtorch and corkscrew mission), which made it boring to play.

I've tried looking everywhere on the internet to see how to adjust them because when I adjusted the settings to play this in widescreen hd, the cutscenes are zoomed in, so the bars cut off the top of the heads of the characters. Same, this game is by far the best ww2 game I've ever played. Aside from medal of honor allied assault, this is by far the best and in my opinion the most realistic. Period correct marine weapons. Too many ww2 games give you machine guns and crazy weapons marines of that time didn't even use.

Glad that COD Vanguard also didn't have any infinite spawning enemies, however in other aspects it's realism and historical accuracy is a bit lacking.

Call of Duty 1 and 2 were still great, oldschool PC based games. It was CoD 4: Modern Warfare that spawned an army of console kiddies in 2007.
