"The ballerina and the painter should be as one; we draw from grace, drive energy into the floor, and allow an intense engagement with our spirit, our subject and our medium.
As the paint and the dance envelopes us, enters our soul, passes from the subconscious, through the arm, and seeps from us as it drips from our hand, down and into the Canvas floor.
An explosion of that connection is projected, as it fragments and spirals from it; A pure energy of dance and creation, where the dialogue between the two, as well as their medium, tangle up as one.
An expression in color and mark grows outward and upward from the Canvas below us.
A moment where our medium has its own life, breaths its own breath, still deep within us but now carving its own path across the floor.
Without the intensity of this downward pressure, the understanding of the absolute, the release of the child within, the connection of the human soul, the pairing of the medium within our own skin, the humility of the emptied vessel, the grace, the release of the ego, the understanding and contradiction of surrendered engagement - the raw energy and spirit of a Jimi Hendrix guitar solo.
Without this, we have nothing, and nothing is born from our skin.
So we stay connected, tap into something greater than ourselves, remove more layers of the hindering ego and try again, and again, until we sink into the paint and a narrative evolves, through the shapes, color and marks of our medium, rising from its own residue.
A moment is told and we are left in contradiction: humbled, broken, fragmented, and yet completed; blessed to be included and to feel we were part of it.
