  • Written in 2001 for a planned metal style collaboration between Steven Wilson and Mikael Åkerfeldt.
    Cut ribbon from your hair
    Round your neck
    It's only... it's only nature's way
    Cause and effect
    Always select
Collapse the light into the earth
    Uncoil, reset the universe
    You are so very pure
    My child... my star
    Hands in your dress
    Always select
Collapse the light into the earth
    Uncoil, reset the universe

@vonschnappi if it's 'some dude from Opeth' i'm guessing it's Mikael Akerfeldt , cause they're good friends and now they're working on a collaboration together called Storm Corrosion....i can't wait , they're my two favourite musicians.

It comes from an album called Out Absentia which is a bonus tracks and outtakes release, though I'm not sure it's an official one.
As for getting your hands on this one, check your PM.

Allow me to correct you on this one, the whole piece is pure fucking awesome, the last few minutes being the crème de la crème

Yeah I know, I also learned that it's not a PT but a collaboration between Wilson and some other dude from Opeth. It's been bootlegged around so whoever titled it knew not what he (or she) was doing or thinking or listening to.

This song has two title versions, one is collapse and the other is wet ribbon
But you're right, the first two words are cut ribbon

@vonschnappi no, I checked it, he doesn´t credit it to SC. It mentions a collaboration with Åkerfeldt in 2001 but this has nothing to do with the songs on the album now, SW released it under his own name.

There you go fellows, the title as it should be!

You're right I just assumed this and figured that, missing out on the little simple facts. Title's changed in your honour, the first true debater in this thread of comments.

Storm Corrosion has no heaviness at all from what I have read (it will still be awesome though :-) ), This is definitely a Porcupine Tree outtake !

@vonschnappi haha nothing, i guess this is technically storm corrosion since it was made by the same guys, but its not like this song is gonna be on the actual release, i was just all excited when i read "storm corrosion" didn’t even bother to look at the name of the song, then was very disappointed that i have heard this song already.

@vonschnappi Alright a bit of a correction, that is fine :-) But this is not representative of what is coming out in April. If Mikael and Steven are happy with this being credited under the name of their current collaboration everyone is happy then !

Not according to Wilson. If you look for Cut Ribbon in his Sound Cloud channel, you will see that he specifically credits this piece to SC.

    @progresman
Well I'm not laughing one bit, this upload gives me headache.
You say it's a PT and the guys from a few comments below say it's SC and have admonished me for dropping the name of that SOME OTHER DUDE FROM OPETH.
If Wilson's channel at Sound Cloud is genuine, then you are totally wrong:
Who's right? Aporia is, look it up.
