At one time there wereHonda sound files from various race tracks “The Sound of Honda”, one their racing motorcycles and one was of their racing cars, and it was absolutely glorious but sadly I’m not able to find it any longer, but if you happen to stumble across it amaybe post a link here!

In terms of engine technology, why are the engines revved up this way?
These are racing machines from some other time ... the "warming up" procedure, i.e. bringing it to the condition necessary for the race, is different from these machines of today ...
Of course, part of that is also the alo spectacle for the interested audience :-)

Also been there. In the Sunday 11.00 parade there also was the guzzi 8 and 2c aside all the MV and Honda ....... Monday evening my ears were back to normal ....
My hearing is still weak ... but my soul is in place :-)

Eine 500 Sechszylinder von MV gab es 1957 nur 1 Prototyp wurde nie bei Rennen benutzt.
Apparently, there was no need to further develop that engine ... the 4-cylinder was competitive enough.

I know race bike carbs don't have an idle circuit, but instead of the frenzied throttle blipping could they just hold a steady rpm instead?

What a waste of a video - we got a few moments of bikes being revved in front of the pits and that's about it. Why on earth didn't you show film of the bikes actually being ridden and "given the beans"? We might have heard those glorious sounds properly.
Because this is a show for a slightly older audience, and because these have long since ceased to be motorcycles that will charge full throttle down the racetrack. They did two or three light parade laps with a bit more speed on the finish line ... here is a video of the complete event in which there is some of the previously mentioned:
