- In the biggest game of his life, 6'2 junior point guard Jalen Brunson showed why he's considered one of the top all around players in the nation vs #1 Chicago Whitney Young including the nation's #1 HS senior, Duke bound Jahlil Okafor. In the Illinois 4A semis in Peoria, Brunson put his Stevenson HS team on his back as his teammates combined to shoot 20% vs Young's great length (6'11 Okafor, 6'9 Paul White).
Jalen Brunson scored his team's last 21 points. Brunson shot 16-for-30, 7-14 from three and 17-for-23 from the free-throw line. He recorded 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
No player in state history has scored that many points in a single game in Illinois state tournament history.
Whitney Young won the game 75-68 and defeated Benet 46-44 for the title the next night. But fans in attendance will never forget Brunson's performance for the ages. Brunson left Carver Arena to a standing ovation.

This boy put his heart into the game bruh
This aged so well
This guy is gonna be an NBA champion one day
He went to my school and he’s a legend his Jersey is framed at my school
stevenson lfg
Future PG of the league
Immense performance, deserved the ovation!
Y'all shoulda shown him flipping off the Whitney young crowed it showed how much he cared to win this game
that and how much of a baby cry he is...he gets frustrated easily, couldnt even look anyone in the eye at the end and sulked with the towel over his head but otherwise he played his heart out.
You act like you wouldn't be pissed if you score 50 plus pts and you still don't win , and it could have been his senior year man, people just expect athletes to always be perfect
TheGotgame lol, i dropped 85 against the Heat on 2k14 MyPlayer, got subbed out with 20 seconds left... we lost the game.. I almost broke my damn PS4 controller... so if thats a game then i know he had to been pissed in real life. They better hope he don't transfer somewhere cause I'm sure he blamed his team sadly
4PhaseDelta he did all he could if I was in his position I wouldn't blame anybody just get better
4PhaseDelta hahahaha hilarious analogy
He's amazing
His father is Rick Brunson who's from my city (Syracuse) I think he was the MVP of the 1991 McDonald's All American game. His Pops played for the legendary coach Chaney at Temple with Eddie Jones and Aaron McKie and then played in the NBA for about 10 years. I think his father is currently an assistant coach with the Charlotte Bobcats.
He is a great player and no doubt he will make it very far in basketball also in life if he keeps working this hard
:)
Coming here from 2024 playoffs
@@Bob-fj7lr I knew I was right a decade later. Crazy time flies
He got great offensive skills, great pick and roll ability, excellent range, he will have to learn how to be more of a distributor at next level but he has the skills to be successful at the next level.
I completely agree, I go to a lot of his games and he has the ability to get a lot of assists.
jonny kull Its going to be interesting to see what school gets involved with recruiting him, would be great at Iowa State, UConn, and high tempo schools
C B Taylor I believe Michigan State is his favorite as of now but he has many offers
Izzo is a great coach, hopefully he can cultivate this kid and let him play his game if he decides on MSU
You also gotta think bro his teammates shot 20% from the floor so for them to have a chance he had to score, I've seen him play in AAU several times and when he has good talent around them he really does distribute and run the offense, reminds me of a lefty tony parker
He balled out!
He was a monster last year
Man I love these ball is life instrumentals..
Reminds me of Marcus Lovett Jr he's a lefty, great shooter, good crossover, and has high scoring games
Ironically, the beats name is "help me" lol...He definitely needed some help out there...
***** so y'all threw some shade at his team with that track name....that's kinda messed up haha
lmfao
Fans wont forget when he flicked them off to at the end
He didn't acctually do that he was waving his hands in the air
Liesssss
Go look it up
Drifterking26
He didnt do Bud don't be a hater just cause he is better then you
Lol of course he's better then me but that's not the point, point is he flicked off the crowd go look it up you'll find it and that's all
Haha the song was called help me. The irony.
Those hyper revs are sick
what’s the name of this beat
For sure
I SHINE, WE shine WE ALL UNITE AND FLYING ORANGE DUNKS AND THREE POINT SHOOTING SHOT CALLERS AND CROSSOVERS IN THE BEST OF BASKETBALL SIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE ILLINOIS FLOOR AND STADIUM IS PLACE WHERE DREAMS ARE BUT A GREAT IMAGI ILLINI NATION.
BRUNSON, BRAGG AND ELIJAH = ORANGE MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CAN YOU IMAGINE HIM WITH KENDRICK NUNN.....OH MY EPIC ILLINI HIGHRISE......VOLUME SHOOTER WITH A GRAVITY NON STOP LEAPER.
Jalen way to leave it all on the court in your efforts to win. Being a Temple U alum it would be great to see play in philly learning from Fran Dunphy in a city with a very rich history of great basketball and basketball players - both college and pro
I would most def wanna see him in philly but not temple. I'd much rather see him go to Villanova and potentially team up with Isaiah briscoe
Well, He's a national champion now.
Illinois produces the best high-school basketball talent, in my opinion.
Brody Williams The best in the nation ESPECIALLY the Chicago area.
Reminds of Mike Conley.
He's pretty good
I was at Jabari Parker last state championship game against Stevenson and Jabari tea won
I found Tyler's match at Toledo Dunbar Highschool. Tyler and this other kid pretty much had the exact same skills set. I was floored. I forgot the kid's name though.
this comment is all wrong. I thought I was on another video.
Daphne Slater dddd38% boron yfncxx. fckxjxfjiofegoedb
second best lefty i've seen on ballislife.
whos the best
kiccz39 Probably Brandon Jennings.
Marcus Lovett
TheAdizero17 You need to go look up Brandon Jennings old mix tapes from 6 years ago he was a beast.
Is he good at defence?
DO IT AGAIN THIS TIME IN ORANGE AND BLUE.
He was shooting the lights out of that gym
20% isn't lights out
jcking0206 That was his team's stats. His stats overall were I think 50% shooting. Watch the vid.
Laser Salamander thank you
his team only scored 12 points realllllllllllllllll
Talk about carrying the fucking team! Look how much his teammates had
everyone on the other team had KD ligers
This dude is the definition of a backpacker
Ya already could feel the player in him he plays just like the Texas tech Pg Temple or Grant but he was amazing but didn’t never want the nba do research. If he makes nba he is a deron Williams 2,0
Good Call dude .
#knickstape
Dude would be so boring to play with
Not the best beat choice
the rest of the team must've been terrible
lol! Might not have been that bad. I remember talking to my mom about a similar situation where a player got like 50+ points in a game, but can't remember. Then she mentioned to me how she watched Wilt Chamberlain all the time get the most points. 50+, 100 and so on. She said the funny thing was the actual TEAM was really good. They just kept giving him the ball I guess.
He not a d1 player
He is a top 100 player in espn he obviously is going d1
Usmaan Zunnu Rain he had this 56 point game at stvenson, a DIII school
lol he is in high school, but good try tho
hes 32nd overall as of now when im posting so he, if he keeps it up, also has a pretty good chance of going pro
But he's ranked #1 pg in his class with tons of d1 offers and your saying he's not a d1 player lol
Left out the part he flipped off the Whitney Young crowd
He just sign a 100 million dollar bag I don't think he cared
