How amazing you are in a border town in Lebanon and someone random passing by recognizes you Nick!
Are you there at the moment ?
Everyday people constitute the majority of civilians/people across all lands. We all want peace, we all want a safe haven for our families, we just want to get along with one another. I think the majority of us know this, but how do we get around our governments politics to solidify friendly relations around the globe? Answer that, and the worlds problems will quickly be solved. Great vlog of an area few of us have seen, especially here in the US. I'm from southern CA, and all I know of the conflicts in that area comes from news sources which are often biased. Would love to see more, but it seems that area is still a tad hot, even for you. Have you done an Israeli point of view vlog yet? That would be interesting, and I bet the average Israelite will want the same things we all want, peace! The internet is a wonderful thing that has yet to see it's full potential. One day, someone using the net will connect us all so we have one voice, and our governments will have to listen. Stay safe, and keep up with your great work.
It is because of the Hezbollah Resistance you were able to walk there safely. Thanks for showing us this side of Lebanon. Wish you had visited nicer villages like Bint Jbeil. Also the city of Tyre is beautiful.

The work you’re doing is important not only for the people of Lebanon but also for your audience. The media would never cover these folks with such a kind heart or helping hand and it’s nice to see that donations are actually benefitting the people of Lebanon just as they did in Venezuela. We live across the border - but on the Israeli side.

Mostly Christian and Shia Muslims. When the Palestinians from Jordan arrived all changed. Also the Syrian/Iranian influence changed a lot :(

In my opinion, nothing wrong about a religion, religion is just something what people belive, even when your faith in a stone you can call it a religion. The problem here is there a handful of people using it to get a benefit. its the same as seeing a stone, you think what benefit with a stone yeah even u call it it just a stone.
Can you please elaborate? I am curious as to how life between pre-60's southern Lebanese Shias & Christians was with Israelis and Palestinians. How were the borders defined? Were both countries able to cross over easily?
@@MidnightClubin yes it was like that until Lebanon war in 1982 and after few years of Israel in Lebanon. Lebanon's people from the south used to cross the border to work in Israel until 2000 from that time there is any relationship between us since Hezbollah seating on the broader.
@@MidnightClubin
Hi, you can read about "The good fence" between Israel and Lebanon:
From 1977, Israel allowed the Maronites and their allies to find employment in Israel and provided assistance in exporting their goods through the Israeli port city of Haifa. The main border crossing through which goods and workers crossed was the Fatima Gate crossing near Metula. This provided essential economic stability to the administration of the Free Lebanon State and the later South Lebanon security belt administration
@@jihadfarhat4352 Palestinians have left Israel in 1947/48 and have found refugee in Jordan.
The King of Jordan did let them build infrastructure - including army like camps and facilities. The so called Fedayeen or Black September Organization has started uprising. In 1970, in the aftermath of a Shirt civil war (Jordan vs. Palestinian Terrorgroups) with more than 3500 dead Palestinians.
In 1971 these groups had to relocate to Lebanon and they settled mostly in southern Lebanon and Beirut.
This was the starting point for the Lebanese civil war.

These are Iranian, Hezbollah flags and the pictures are of Ali Khamenei (Supreme Leader of Iran), Qaesm Soleimani, and other wonderful human beings responsible for the repression of the Iranian people and for sowing destruction around the Middle East (Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Gaza) including in Southern Lebanon.

@Indigo Traveller - Just finished watching the entire recent Lebanon series. Excellent on-the-ground perspective, of every day people across the spectrum, real daily conditions. Good to see you are able to film this much, and get people to talk relatively openly - I understand it is not easy in tense situations. After having watched your VLOGS over the years, it is also noticeable how you have grown and become more tuned in to the subtleties and complexities of these multi-layered, uncomfortably juxtaposed dimensions of interests, conflicts, hopes and daily necessities. And your work really stands out because you are seeking and showing the reality in the locations, both good and bad, in depth. A refreshing anti-dote to the narcissistic, superficial poses or the glib and heavily biased and edited storylines that are all too common on these social media platforms.

You are an uneducated asshole. The first Zionists who came to the area were secular Jews who bought lands legally from local arabs.
After that, a civil war has started, Israel was established, and 5 countries invaded it. Israel won and the west bank + the gaza strip were occupied by egypt and jordan. Israel is far from being a colonial aparthied state, whether you like it or not.
Why do you not say that the checkpoints belong to Hezbollah . All of southern Lebanon was taken from Lebanese by Hezbollah members Controlled by Iran
Why don't you say that the reason why Hezbullah managed to take over southern Lebanon is because Hezbullah took advantage of the local discontent with Israel's presence in southern Lebanon from 1985 to 2000? And that Israel contrived to make a very similar mistake again in 2006?

Same needs, wants, dreams, families, etc. It’s so easy to see the news and think “___ group is good and __ group is bad,” but in reality the civilians are generally your everyday, kind hearted, welcoming, hardworking people regardless of race, ethnicity, location, religion, gender, life choices, preferences, etc. @indigotraveler you are a world changer!

We in Lebanon feel sorry for the Syrians and palestiniens but Lebanon cannot handle all those refugees.
Lebanon is a small country and we already have big problems due to the Palestinian war with Israel and from the war with the Assad regime that the Foreign countries created.
We already paid a big price, 30 years of horrible war that we never wanted.
Europe ,Britain, USA and Australia should take all refugees and take care of them since they created the war with the Assad regime, Lebanon had enough from their problems. Ahmad and all refugees already living on the budget from the UN and NGO, look how many kids he has, they take $300 per child from the UN...
Lebanese are getting poorer by the day, who is helping the poor Lebanese ?
We have 70% poverty rate.
Please stop showing that the refugees are suffering, they can go back to Syria and rebuild their homes.
We are not responsible anymore. And we cannot feel guilty as well.
Australia and USA are huge rich countries, they can handle them and offer them Work,
You tell me how can we help them when we are living in financial and political problems?? You are in Lebanon and you saw the destruction from the Port! Who did it ? Who is responsible ?
They will never tell us but God only Knows and God Will soon Show His Justice.
And please stop portraying Lebanon as a Muslim country, we are a Christian country as well, in the South we have hundreds of old Church’s and we have the Qana Church where Jesus did His first Wine Miracle.
Christians and Muslims live side by side without any problems, only our politicians want to creat division among us so they can stay in power.
We have been living like that for more than 30 years, it is about time for the UN and big countries to take responsibility of what they created, we are tired from their injustices.

As an Israeli who grew up close to the border, I appreciate this opportunity providing a glimpse of what the other side of the border looks like.
The land is recognizable, the people could easily have been Arab Israeli citizens on the other side.
It was disheartening to listen to the young man who came back from Belgium because he missed his country.
Under normal circumstances, he could work cross-border in Israel where the salaries are similar to Belgium's, and get to live in peace close to family without having to relocate so far away.
Perhaps one day.
Why should we be arab israeli citizens ? We are lebanese and we will stay lebanese
@@ahmadballout4013
I wasn't suggesting you should become Israeli citizens. I mentioned Arab-Israelis because I was reminded of them ("could easily have been" - with respect to resemblance).
What I did suggest was, cross-border employment arrangements like they have in Europe (live in one country, work in another nearby, commute daily).
you try to sound nice but you show your outsider prospective, the same people as Arab Israelis are actually on that side of the border and they are Palestinian refugees there. Israel doesn't want them back and started wars there in order for them to not go back. the not normal circumstances aren't a side note to the bad conditions and higher salaries similar to Belgium, they are part the reason. Israel completely destroyed the south Lebanon infrastructure in the war and no one would invest there or even the country in general because of the prospects, Israel's buddy Trump Cesar law ruined the Lebanese economy last year with Gdp failing several times to put pressure on Assad government in Syria and Lebanon allies.
and your "all you Arabs look the same to me" is showing ignorance too. the Galilee Arabs are different than the South Lebanon in majority. this is why the British and French put the border there between them. they are different in religion, the south of Lebanon is mainly Shiite this is the reason for all of the Iranian flags and leaders of Iran pictures in the video while there are no Shiites in galillee anymore (there were 7 villages untill 1948)
@@onetwothree8754
I'm interested in normalizing relations - what about you?
Don't lecture me on the wars of the past. I grew up in Nahariya, where a Lebanese attacker infiltrating from the sea crushed the skull of a little "Zionist girl." When he was released as part of a prisoners swap deal, he was greeted in Lebanon with rice and sweets, as if he heroically killed some badass Zionist soldiers, rather than a little Jewish girl. Getting stuck on the past holds you back.
Please don't kid yourself - Lebanon's economy is bad not because of Trump, or the evil Zionists. Lebanon’s political system is corrupt to the core and mostly incompetent - a terrible combination. The political system is rigid - assigning the highest posts based on religious affiliations - which is the opposite of a meritocracy. The result is an inefficient state running along tribal/sectarian lines first. The state is so weak and inefficient, that there is a parallel armed militia within it that it doesn’t control. Be honest with yourself: Show me one advanced economy - anywhere in the world - that has this. Add that to a culture of no accountability, the most popular aspect of which is blaming the damn Zionists as a way to avoid criticism (kind of like what you did in your post). Lebanon didn’t invent this of course. I’m not suggesting solutions - Lebanon is your country to fix, not mine. All I’m saying is - if you don’t *own* your problems, they’re not going to go away.
Israel has problems too, but it doesn’t whine all day about the “damn Arabs” causing them - even at its lowest points when survival was iffy. It has robust systems to fix stuff, and a culture that doesn’t let things be sweeped under the rug. A President who sexually harassed his secretary back when he was the Minister of Tourism; A Prime Minister convicted of taking bribes when he was mayor of Jerusalem. Both ended up in jail.
I never said that “all Arabs look the same to me” - you made that quote up. The fact you really thought I didn’t know the religious difference between mostly Sunni Israeli Arabs and mostly Shiite South-Lebanese, says a lot about you. You gave it a name yourself: “Outsider Perspective” - I know what you meant. Most folks in the Middle East think it too: Jewish Israelis don’t belong in the Middle East. They’re invaders from Europe or elsewhere. Now: (1) Here’s what I really meant: I am not an Arab nor a day-to-day Arabic speaker. Israeli Arabs reminded me of the Arabs in the video, as they share the same ethnicity and language. Other Lebanese don’t quite consider themselves Arab, the same as some Israeli Arabic speakers. (2) Jews are native to this land. We are not “outsiders.” We have more archaeological findings, millennia-old customs, literature, and history, that tie us to this land, than the British have to tie them to London. Our language was spoken and political structures established in this land back when in certain parts of Europe they still painted their faces blue and danced around the fire. I am completely separating history and archaeology from religion - so please don’t go there. The Dead Sea Scrolls, written in Hebrew before Jesus was born and more than 700 years before Muhammad, are a real archaeological finding. Not a religious belief.
This last point is important. I’m interested in normalizing relations. I’m not “trying to be nice” - I am highly realistic and a pragmatist. So, to normalize relationships I require the other side recognize my historic right to be here as an “insider.” You wanted honesty, you’re getting it: Without this baseline recognition, there’s no point in normalizing relations. Whatever you think of the Israelis, you will admit to yourself that no one would agree to anything less (and if they do agree to it - they’re not worthy of normalization). Second - we must look to the future and stop dwelling on the past. Whining about the past on both sides is a sure recipe to stay there. Not entirely, but mostly, Israel focused on just that: fight for its survival, but at the same time relentlessly strive to modernize its economy, and establish strong independent state structures to guarantee future prosperity and eliminate any chance for any power grabs the likes of which the Middle East has seen too many.
I want to see peace. From the bottom of my heart I say this: I would be delighted to see the border with Lebanon open one day for commerce and tourism. I am not ready to dwell on the past and endless whataboutisms: So many things to do, too little time! One day there will be enough people on both sides thinking the same way. Maybe even you would be willing to put grudges aside. In the meantime, at least for my country, I am happy that the conflict with Lebanon/Syria/Iran/[insert a country here] is *not* used as an excuse to languish behind.
@@roieis Samir Kuntar never confessed doing it and there is no evidence he did it, Zvi Sela, Chief Intelligence Officer of the Israel Prison Service said that:
"We turned Kuntar into God-knows-what - the murderer of Danny Haran and his daughter, Einat. The man who smashed in the girl's head. That's nonsense. A story. A fairy tale. He told me he didn't do it and I believe him. I investigated the event..in my opinion there is support for the fact that they were killed by fire from the Israeli rescue forces. You can accuse him all you like, but it was obviously the rescue forces that opened fire."
www.haaretz.com/1.5038032
of course it's more convenient for the rescue forces that fucked up and started fire in operation that didn't work to accuse the other side of horrible actions, If you always believe your country's security forces and assume they never lie check out the Bus 300 affair. the IDF also has a policy that is called "Hannibal Directive" which means it's preferred to kill an Israeli hostage in cross fire than let him be successfully abducted.
anyway, Israelis killed during the years 100s possibly 1000s of Lebanese children, and besides that civilians in all ages, check out the FLLF. in comparison to a one story that Israeli official sources say is not true.
who's political system is corrupt to the core? the last 5 Israeli prime ministers were all investigated for corruption by police. out of 5 one was very suspiciously killed while in office possibly by involvement of secret security forces (Rabin), one was cleared by police later photoed by british media having ties to jeffery epstein (Barak), one had a stroke while investigated and his son went to prison (Sharon), one went to prison for corruption (Olmert) and the current one is in trail for corruption. Israel has more convicted or suspiciously dying leaders than Latin American countries like Brazil, Ecuador and Peru, Israeli politicians in the ruling parties have proven ties to organised crime, Israeli security minister Gantz calls the prime minister a mob boss, and there is 4 elections in 2 years and you call other countries political systems corrupt to the core...
Israel, besides being an apartheid state is a more Tribal-Sectarian country among Jews than Lebanon, the parties are based on ethnic origin in the world and religion with Ashkenazim Jews Haredis have thier own party with no other group members, Shepardi thier own with the same etc. even in Lebanon's sectarian systems any party has members of more than one sect and religion, Sunni future has Christians, Shiite Hezbollah has sunnis etc. in Israel Ashkenazi secular Jews sectarian vote for Labor/blue and white Mizrahi Masorati vote for Likud and it's proven in survies, Russian immigrants, west bank settlers each with thier own party. 80% of Palestinians with no voting rights tho.
there is facts and statistics, Lebanon was the richest country in the region before expelled Palestinian refugees by Zionism put a burden on the economy, Lebanon was rich with good growth before in 2006 Israeli new government decided to respond to a limited frequent operation before with a full war and targeting Lebanon's economical infrastructure in areas of all sects like the Lebanese only Beirut airport and the biggest bridge in Lebanon and much more. Lebanon 3 years ago had a GDP twice as high before the Trump's Ceasar law sanctions pushed by Israel, from 20k to some 10k, , it's a fact check 17 year to 2020 here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)_per_capita
same politicians nothing changed...if it was corruption and not American pushed by Israel sanctions.
Lebanon's economy is with besides Palestinian refugees caused by Israel also 1.5 million syrian refugees burden from a civil war in which Israel aided the Al nusra and others and made it last longer and the same groups also attempted to invade into Lebanon from Syria and were Anti-Shiite and anti-Christian and Druze which are like 75% of the Lebanese population, even galilee Druze who serve in Israel's army tried to stop ambulances with wounded nusra fighters going to be treated in gallilee because of thier anti Druze actions in Syria
Lebanon government voted as most Arab states for adoption of the Arab peace initiative in a vote which was in Beirut despite internal groups not all like it it still did and it says the only way normalization is possible is if Israel retreat from all the occupied Arab lands since 67 so the Lebanese Shebaa farms Syrian Golan and West Bank and Gaza in Palestine and take all the Palestinain refugees in Lebanon to go back to thier places
