I'm trying to set up something similar to this, but my underdeveloped neanderthal brain is making it tough. Videos like this one and the one where you had everything running through the mpc one are definitely helping though.
Bro just have 2x mpc a keystep or an akai mpk mini and an erm midiclock in between em. Akai with internal synths and fx you dont need nothing else. That video is freaking awesome man but is high class live and xtreme confusing .

I have a very similar setup and way of working as you in this vid. Do you record each sound individually into Ableton or just do the whole song in one go? I tend to get as close to perfection as poss all on the hardware, then do a live audio recording into the daw, muting and unmuting tracks as I go all in one go. I can then trim or snip out any cock ups on the recording! 😁 ♥ 🎶
was thinking of getting the mpc 2 live for the same type of setup, to control my synths. wat do u think of it? looks so fun n sounds great. nice track. the model d starts the build of all great electronic music

How do you control which track should automatically send audio (just this chosen track) when you select the track in MPC? Is it a setting in MPC or do you change it and mute in e.g. mixer (or Ableton)?
So are you getting latency while you play? It seems like you would with hearing it sent to ableton through the vst and back out? I mean, aren't your fingers feeling funny as you play. 😂

Maybe I can help; same os and internal specs, same screen size. Mpc one has less I/O and smaller pads, but also more buttons dedicated to specific functions. Mpc live ii has more i/o, full size pads, battery and a built in speaker, but fewer dedicated buttons. I’ve owned both, and personally prefer the mpc live ii.
If you only have 2 going in, now how do you use valhalla on say only the clap? Wouldnt it be better to have multiple inputs? I mean Valhalla would be on everything right? Unless your just making 1 line
Consider picking up the opsix to compliment the mpc, it just sounds too beautifull, deciding if I should get the hardware or the vst plugin, I do already have a 32 key midi controller and a 88 key juno ds, I wonder if it would be possible to play on the full sized weighted piano keys and use the opsix as a module

But what I still don’t get: How did you manage to control other synths with the Opsix while no sound is coming out of the opsix? And how did you connect everything through midi? Mpc uses USB midi as well so you connect like 32 devices or something so connect a USB hub with all midi connected and away you go. You could also use a midi splitter/thru box or device for classic connections
This is precisely what the MPC and its sister device the Akai Force are designed to do. But it’s no different from a traditional DAW on a PC either. For every MIDI port you get 16 channels, so you can chain MIDI devices together (out > in for the first two devices, then thru > in for all remaining devices in the chain). You set up each synth to listen on a different channel, and then only that synth will play when you’re broadcasting on that channel. When Tefty is changing tracks on the MPC, each track is set to broadcast on the channel that the synth he’s playing is listening to. The keys played on the Korg keyboard on the desk send MIDI notes to the MPC’s MIDI IN, and the MPC then rebroadcasts those notes to the channel the track is tuned to. The synth listening on that channel then receives the notes and plays the sounds.
So a bit of manual settings for this. When playing/writing parts for other instruments, I turned the OpSix volume all the way down. Which means I’d have to keep the OpSix part for last OR keep it as a live play synth when we’re recording the final version of the track. But essentially in this setup, any keyboard could be the “Midi controller” if you turn the volume all the way down. Hope that helps 🍻

Superb! How do you patch all MIDI channels? Do you have some MIDI splitter? So all MIDI I/Os go to the MPC and all audio outputs per device to the mixer / audio interface and then to Ableton?
Thanks! It’s currently setup with USB midi as the main way for sequencing in the video. And yes, all the audio gets patched into a mixer/audio interface setup. A few days after posting this vid I realized I was having some midi timing issues, though, so I switched everything back to traditional midi ports and used splitters/thru ports. That seemed to have fixed my timing issues. So the MPC 2.10.1 software could have some issues with USB-Midi depending on the number of devices you have in the chain 🤔
I know the video is old now I have a mackie 8 bus and wondered how you route it via the motu I have an Apollo and the Behringer which has 8 inputs and outputs which I’ve aggregated together but from where do you route the mackie from can’t get my head round it as there loads of connections underneath thanks in advanced actually with my Behringer I could with the new update use that as the sound inputs and outputs but still stuck how to get it via Ableton way out my depth
3:30 How do you connect a pedal like that? How do I connect a pedal to my computer? I already have a Amp. I also asked a producer how to connect pedals and he said a DI box is needed. Is that true to connect my pedals to Logic Pro?
Depends on the pedal. The Microcosm can output a line level signal so it can go directly into an audio interface input that’s hooked up to your computer or ipad etc.
They’re some old Sony’s that are discontinued. I think it’s MDR v900 … I’ve heard so many records on them that I just know the frequency response so well 🤣
