I have that kit as a sea plane carrier with the PE set. Neat review.
I would love to see this build on the channel certainly a subject I’m keen on and would be a great build Nige
wow, nigel, this looks great! i was looking at the taiho kit from veryfire, she looks amazing indeed! i got for xmas the 1/350 yamato deluxe version from veryfire, i gave you a shoutout in part 1 of my unboxing of that amazing kit! great job indeed, nigel!
I once saw a model (in a magazine) of USS wolverine. A great looking aircraft carrier that was a converted paddle steamer. Then there was HMS Habakkuk that didn't get past a concept model, although Churchill was interested. An aircraft carrier that was kept afloat by ice.
I have the airfix hms illustrious with a few extras that i acquire now and again over the years , and recently picked up the trumpy yorktown at telford both 1/350 . Never bulit a carrier before , will start on the yorktown this year.
I built CV-1 several years ago with the Trumpeter upgrade kit a/ wooden deck. Insane pe.
Almost bought this when it came out but was rather disappointed the lattice framework was all plastic rather than PE although, as you say, there is a PE set available to replace it. Re the Ford being the latest carrier, given your record with ships, I reckon she might not be the time you get this one finished 😄
Looks lovely Nigel! Have you ordered the addon PEset?
Yes, I did say I had ordered it in this video.
Were those bagged parts slide-molded, or were they resin?
You wanted something simple. Tha etched set you've ordered will put the hex on that. 😅
Slide moulded
