Just fyi, if its the same outer material as T7 Shield then it gathers dust VERY EASILY

What would be the real expected speed connecting a Samsung T9 vs. a Samsung 980 and a case cone ting to a Mac Studio M2 Max, taking into account that the 980 with a case would be connected to a Thunderbolt 4 port and the T9 not ?
    Thank you

FYI. You provide Amazon links to the 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB versions of this drive in your video description. Unfortunately, all the links are labeled as 1TB drives.

Thanks for your tests. Are you planning to do a test of the competing Crucial X10 Pro? I assume the "problem" will also be the usage of the older standard.

It wasn't on my plans, but then again Jan is going to include a huge amount of SSD coverage for Gen 4 and Gen 5. I've added this to my checking list. Thank man

I want to put all my movies, TV shows and music on this, I have close to 4tb of media, once I put it all on I want to see how long it will last and I'll be using it daily.

I like that it allows to encrypt data on the drive. However with software it's not as convenient as the Samsung T7 Touch which allows a finger to decrypt the data on the drive. I wish it was available on T9.

Can't argue with that (and disappointed in myself for not including that point in this vid....... DAMN)

Related Question: NVME prices are alledgedly gonna rise. I read an article saying going up by 25-50% in 2024. I was eyeing up a Asustor Flashtor system (especially after yesterdays great video with them). So the question is do I dive in now. I was gonna fill a 6 Bay but now thinking of maybe just populating it with just 3 until the storm blows over. What do you think? Should anyone planning on using NVME drives pull the trigger now? Do you agree NVME/NAND prices might get painfully prohibitive this year ?

The good thing about Samsung is their software makes it to overprovision even your os drive if its theirs, the bad thing is they haven't been transparent with what went wrong with their firmwares.

I've got 2 of the p40 Wd black external ssd and they are great. I use one on the series x and one on the ps5 for my older games and they are really really fast to be external. Definitely makes a huge difference against a standard hdd.

Nice points. I would go with the tb4 external enclosure for better performance

Unfortunately the problem is they were very slow to implement even 10Gbps USB on most systems, so people are lucky if they have that or 20Gbps, USB 4 is an extreme minority of the install base.

I am with you as well Rory. He only has himself to blame by consistently putting out great videos he has spoiled us all. Victim of his own success. In all seriousness though he has done more videos over the Christmas period than most channels . As much as I am gaggin for the same video I say we let him finish his left over brussel sprouts and have a break. Humans like NAS drives are more likely to fail the harder you drive them. We all need to avoid burnout be it our NAS or our mortal coil. @@nascompares

Jokes aside. I actually did plan to make it live this Friday (got this whole "DiY Friday" thing going since about Sept for all open source/BYO content that I've been sticking to as much as I can..just in my own head). I had a good Christmas...BUT visiting 4 lots of family has resulted in me getting the flu (listen to the voice over during testing of SSD reviews coming late next week..it's nasal'y as hell)! And the Aoostar Prox build with TN Scale and pfsense or OpenWRT (erring more to the former now) is delay. SHOULD have a Jonsbo/Erying i9 Build follow up tomorrow though. Thanks for the good vibes guys

My backup are now around 1.8 tb. 128gb of turbo write just doesn't cut it to me. Native speed of the nand would had been more useful.
I doubt very much that this SSD would be up to the task. I have two enclosure that are aluminium and with quality thermal pad i installed myself and it still overheat. They still overheat. If that SSD don't overheat, it's only because the performance go down the toilet after that cache is filled.
