The Torii Hunter collision at home plate with Jamie Burke in Chicago to eliminate the White Sox from the playoffs and to win the division for the Twins was the most brutal collision that I've seen. I've spent countless hours trying to find a video of that collision, but it cannot be found. Only a still image of it and that certainly doesn't do the collision any justice.
I caught for 12 years. I miss it. Even the collisions. Hate that they took away tue one physical part of baseball. I get why they did it but even though ive been hurt by collisions I would have never wanted them banned
I used to love trucking catchers - EVEN IF half the time I wound up hurting myself. It was the one thing that could really change the atmosphere of the whole game, for the catcher OR runner. Loved it, and REALLY loved watching it. Sad they got rid of this.
What I always liked about these before they were outlawed is that it was the one violent play in baseball. You don't even think of baseball as being a violent sport, but it was in one scenario. These plays were generally more exciting to watch than home runs if you think about it. However, I do see where baseball is coming from by outlawing these hits.
I miss exciting baseball. Now if the catchers foot is in the wrong place, it’s blocking the plate. Used to be one of the most exciting plays in all of sports.
What a shame the Dave Parker trying to mow down John Stearns play isn't included (Stearns stood tall while Parker bounced off and ended up breaking his own jaw).
I don't understand why catchers get so violent when you charge then. When I played d2 ball I was a catcher, got charged a few times, shit hurts. gotta respect a good hit tho
The one play where the cardinals catcher got ran over by a Seattle mariners players and then patted him on the but saying nice job is a sign of baseball respect
Tori Hunter plowed over a White Sox back up catcher named Jamie Burke. I remember hating Tori for robbing so many dingers from the Sox, but he got booed pretty bad on the Southside after that one. Too bad its not on this video
I hate how they aim upper body and then when they look hurt they try to see if they are ok. No one believes you. You are clearly trying to hurt him if you want to take a headshot so he lets go of a white ball
If I was in a home plate collision I would get up and shake the catchers hand
U wouldn't
I mean i
where's the collision between Dan Gladden and Greg Olson, Twins vs Braves WS?
0:42 "I was delivering pizzas"
I just love seeing the catcher get bulldozed
I give you props for finding ones I've never seen before dude

During the Twins/A's rivalry, Kirby Puckett sent the A's catcher flying backwards 20 feet. I think it was Terry Steinbach.

What about Cameron rupps play at the plate for the Phillies? That was more recent and it was a great play

That video was SAVAGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1:10 his ankle twisted pretty good
0:25 was completely unnecessary
Nathan Pociask that's why he punched him!
The catcher was in his way though.
Yeah that was a nice punch
NickStone68 the catcher didn't have the ball though. The runner could've stepped around him.
Well he was on the plate, id do the same
I subscribed because i love daily Baseball videos!
that one catcher who hit the runner is legit
It's like football without the gear

TehHitSingle Ikr, I mean if I were the runner coming in from 3rd, I'd want to go and crush em lol.
TehHitSingle well the runners do so they mainly can attempt to get the catcher to lose his ball so the runner has his or her run safe
buster posey breaking his leg is a pretty good example of why catchers don't like getting run into
I remembet Kirby Puckett barreling around 3rd a few times.
