My husband got me playing Devotion on his piano. I can remember singing Devotion in music class in elementary school. He was a grown man back then. He was 70 years old when he passed. I miss him so much. Looking forward to seeing him again in Heaven, where we can play Devotion together again 😢

Yes, and they actually won a grammy that year for best vocal performance on a song, largely because of that harmony at the end. Maurice said in his autobiography that he and Philip Bailey kind of improvised that vocal, and it almost sounded like a monastery chant.

Shortly after Prince died, I heard a minister about my age (56) who grew up on this beautiful music say " God is putting together one heck of a band ". I thought of all the great talents in that band. Maurice, Prince, James Brown, Michael, Whitney, Berry White, Tina Marie, Bob Marley ............ That list is ... mind blowing. The artist did what they were put on this earth to do and I for one am greatfull to have heard there music.

Earth, Wind and Fire is the best . My father went to be with the Lord on September the 7th. We used to listen to this song on the way to see my grandmother. Can't Hide Love was one of his favorite songs. It brings back memories of my favorite soldier. I love and miss you Daddy ❤️.

Please don't forget the superb Ralph Johnson and Larry Dunn.....brilliant musicians which helped bond Maurice White's tough, and timeless, regime together. They even had the incredible Ronnie Laws with them for a short period from the early 70s. RIP Maurice.

I bought this double album in 1978. I found this perfect. I still do.
I bought it too and loved it, my musical tastes got progressively heavier . I was 13 when this came out by the time I was 15 I got into heavier stuff especially after I start lifting later in my teens and early twenties then it progressed from there but I still love earth wind and fire , that never went away or my love for the police.
This song is so epic. Has jazz fusion vibes to it. They should have made it into a true epic by stretching it to 8 minutes.

So I was searching for some news songs to sing on my kareoke nights and decided on this one . In my town the places I go are predominantly white but over span of ten years I taught them about the black music culture. Well when I’m embarked on this song it just felt good. All the lyrical changes in your voice up and down like a kaleidoscopic shaping your voice in such a way that you’re pleading for love from a female who seems ashame maybe this guy loved a girl who was a higher class. And maybe her folks or her friends will disowned her. You won’t find out unless you really take a chance … and you feel the music tailored to fit the mood. I felt and it suited me now it’s my signature song.. it seems simple but it’s complex brilliant to say the least. I’ve been a fan since Last days in time and Head to the Sky. I saw them at Loyd Noble on the campus at the University of Oklahoma Spring of 1975. Then at the Zoo Amphitheater in Oklahoma City with my wife summer of 2009. They were teamed up with Chicago with all that brass on the stage and everything blended. Lastly in Durant, Oklahoma at the Choctaw Convention Center. I had tickets took my two older brothers and my cousin . And it was great . Thanks for all the great song and yes I go albums, cassettes, CD’s, and DVD concerts of them . I remember hearing this as a very little boy for the first time...when they harmonized at the end my mouth dropped. Stunned by how beautiful and perfect they sounded. Salute to the music gods,Earth Wind & Fire.
The horns are captivating and vocals magnificent. Saw them in concert in 79 and "Oh what a night is was!!!"
I saw them in 77 Cincinnati never forget that Sunday night.
I saw them in concert in 72 at my school, Baruch college. And at MSG.
I just saw them Sunday night they still rock.
Oh really, they just came thru Seattle and up to Vancouver BC
I worked at the University of Kansas at Lawrence in 1979 and got free tickets to concerts at KU and saw Kenny Loggins too. You reminded me of some really great memories. EW&F rocks that brass! Hope you had a wonderful time!
