So im a 11yr old 50kg boy and i never got actually planing so i saw this tutorial and tuned my sail perfect and i went on water with a 4.2 m sail completely flat water and about 16kts had a 160 l board and got planing without being in harness or foot straps i was screaming after getting planing.

Very interesting was the point that less downhaul more pressure on the board.
May I add two things? For going upwind, you need some more outhaul tension (But the video was about going fast, so probably just downwind).
Boomheight: With a higher boom you have more pressure on your back foot, a lower boom produces more pressure on your front foot. So you can adjust your boomheight by watching the pressure balance of your feet.

Hi Nico! I have a v8 with two mini cams. I never know well how much outhoul should I gave to the sail. Usually I gave 3 cm approx. What is your recommendation? What happen if I gave too much over 3 cm, and what will happen if nothing, just click on the boom without any extension?

On the sailing ones I think a drone will enhance your sailing videos a lot of good.
Anyway just keep it up.
Windsurfing needs to come back to its former glory also ask in every video to give you a like.

Hi Nico, when you are trying to put the harness lines in the right position, do you stand the sail on the beach by itself and hold the middle of the harness line or do you plug it into the board before doing that?
Hi Nico, really like your videos. One question: you showed several possibilities for triming and getting faster. Mastposition, footstrap position, boom etc. Do you have a specific sequence when you start optimizing your settings? In other words: do some settings have more impact than others? You haveing early planning difficulties. Board stoping while trying to get in to the straps ? Lift that boom high so you can only get in the harnes ( hip high harness hook ) on your toes.

Hi guys. You are invited to come to the Caribbean to do some windsurfing here on the coast!
You made little to no mistakes in your tips, great!
A lot of these things apply to wave sails as well. Just remember that overtightening your clew will 'increase control' but also make your sail more rigid thus resulting in a more volatile sail that's less elastic; giving you too múch control.
For most wave sails in light wind conditions: very loose clew, very loose downhaul (tight leech), higher boom, baseplate forward (optionally: tighten battens)
High wind: Tight clew, lower boom, medium to medium-high downhaul (looser leech), baseplate more backwards.
Overpowered: Low boom, Medium clew, Very tight downhaul (very loose leech), baseplate backwards a lot. Optionally: untighten battens
Make sure when reducing boom height you also balance out your clew again, since everything changes together.
Question to Nico: would having less downhaul in slalom sails give you earlier planing and faster acceleration as well?
Thank you Arjuna! Actually less downhaul gives you a slower acceleration. When the gust hits you the sail has too much power, doesn't open and doesn't translate the incoming wind into drive as it would with more downhaul.
@@Nico_GER7 Thanks you're right, so little to no gusty conditions would benefit from less downhaul for a more efficient sail profile? (In slalom sails) The reason I'm asking is because I always hear people talking about the benefits of more downhaul in slalom. I understand there is a minimum amount of tension needed to get a proper sail profile but I never hear people talk about when to use the minimal settings, and how far can you push it without tension in the downhaul before the sail stops working like it's supposed to?
they key is the find the sweet spot. not too much not too little. that's when it will work perfect in any conditions. @@Apoz

Thanks a lot Bob! With NeilPryde there is no spacer system. The Camber pressure adapts automatically.

What adjustable harness lines do you prefer? I find that all i've tried with plastic cleats will slide/lenghten during hard sailing.

One thing I noticed is that on your harness lines you have the adjustment stopper set on your front hand. Should this not be set on your backhand for both sides? Just curious if it is a personal preference or there is any logic behind it?

Hi Yoan... actually that's completely random but I noticed that before. On the water it never bothered me. With some booms I have it the other way around.
I have a question. Have you some tips te surf forward. Bc when I'm stay at the back of my board. then I keep going with my nose to the wind.. is it bc there is to much power back? Can you help?
I used to have the same problem, especially when putting my feet in the straps. First foot in and then the board stalled upwind. What I suggest you is to put your mast forward and go downwind, then you put your front foot in the strap trying to stay as stable as possible, you will notice you won't lose speed on the downwind course, then you can close the sail little by little and blast upwind. Oh and be careful to your leg shape, front leg almost straight, back one slightly bent
Almost as much as tuning parameters like in a Formula 1 car... 😉 🏆🥇just much cheaper and enviromentfriendly! 👍🏼

dear Nico, you say for 6.4 it should be rig with an rim mast. but on the neilpryde website they say "for 6.4 with an rdm mast make sure to put enough batten tension to be sure the sdm camber have good contact with the rdm mast" as I bought myself a 6.4 Evo11, I am wondering if I should or not buy an rdm 430... thanks for the help
Hi Bob! Sorry for my late answer. buy an 430 RDM mast. The PWA guys and I were already using it with an RDM last year. Just put a little bit more battentension than usual.

Hello Nico. For extra speed have you ever tried polishing your boards underneath with teflon boat polish ?
I see a great difference. The boards actually slip out of your hands they are so smooth.
I'd be interested to know if anybody does in fact polish the bottom of their boards anymore ? Cheers and thanks for your super videos.
I don't think that would be allowed in competitions. What you can do is sand the surface of the board with 1000 sandpaper so a thin layer of water stays on the board always.
@@Nico_GER7 I saw nothing in the rules when I was racing (Raceboards) and certainly not in slalom. Nobody will see it! BUT the difference was noticeable on raceboards. Very very slippery stuff - like a frying pan and it certainly works for speed boats saving fuel and going faster through the water. Try it on an old board you know well vs someone else with the same(ish) equipment. The only drawback is that its about 40Euros for 1/2 litre ...!!! maybe even more. Well done for all your videos. You are "one of a kind" giving off all this information but in the end it really does help me and many others. Thanks. PS: I'm sure that many things go unsaid at the level you are racing ..... its why some people are always ahead. Its life. Cheers and all the very best. I'm currently campaigning an exocet RSD2 in light winds. A great board - so under estimated! Nothing that you would like though...

U need as much tension to avoid all wrinkles. The battens in the top need less tension, so that the sails can breathe in the gust. The battons under and above the boom need more anf the most tension to give the sail a big belly. But if u give too much, u damage the sail and the battons break earlier.

Hi man! Yeah, that can happen. It depends a little board on the kind of board you have, but the higher boom will make your front foot a bit looser. you gotta put the boom back down or try out different footstrap position
Could you tell us what your batten pressure is in comparison to speed or recreational sailers ?
It's pretty normal. Just enough tension to get the wrinkles out of the sail.
NiCo PiCo did experiment with your camber tension and what are the results with these sails and does your coe change or is it realy stable
if you don't have a NeilPryde you should definitely play with the camber pressure, but neilpryde camber pressure adapts automatically @@wdm33

I’ve been using Slalom gear for a couple of years now and I run similar gear to you. I run 2017 JP Slalom boards (71 & 85 wide) and Neil Pryde Evos (7 & 10). I’m finding I’m struggling to use the gear properly coz I have no front foot pressure unless I run the boom at the bottom of the cutout which means I bounce off the water.
I run a carbon 37.5 Cm Z Fin SLM S- in my 71 wide and a 44cm Tribal CL 2 Carbon Fin in my 85 wide. I weigh 72 kgs and my harness lines are 30’s.
My front foot gets bounced out all the time in chop and find it frustrating and dangerous. It’s got to the point where I hate doing Slalom now. Any tips that you can give me to cure this problem would be appreciated. Cheers. :)
Oh man that really sucks. Sorry to hear that. It’s really hard for me to say like this. Maybe your foot strap position? Where did you mount them?

Yes I’ve tried them forward, back, closer together, further apart and even turned the screw plates sideways which Arnon Dagan advised me to do, however, nothing solves the problem. I spoke to Guy Cribb and he advised changing the downhaul drastically and seeing if it made the difference but when I let the downhaul off by a lot (1-2cm) it didn’t really help and it just made the sail slow and hard to use. Any other thoughts? I love my gear and don’t want to have to change brands. Cheers. :)
@@mintoxace5571 what about change your harnesses position in your body ? I changed mine and the sailing change a lot.
isaac NT can you explain more of what you mean mate? I use a seat harness and have tried shifting my lines but nothing helps.
@@mintoxace5571 I used to sail with a chair type harnesses in a very low position. Presently I sail with the other kind that goes around your body more high. Chair = seat

In this video you say something about the “outhaul”. You are using an “adjustable outhaul”. How does it work? Can you make a video how does it works on the water?
Thare is a rope 2/3 down the boom and if u pole it it will put more outhaul
