Help me please, I’m being held hostage in my science class and forced to watch this video.
Masked PomPom me 2 help meeee
Same
Same girl I feel yoir pain
The whole world uses metric except 3 countries. And the other 2 countries are already switching to metric making the US the only country to not fully adopt the metric system.
I’m here because America is one of three countries that use the imperial system the rest of the world uses metric so it’s just common sense to learn this for when I travel
It's still hard for me to adapt
Liberia and Myanmar already accepted Metric it is only US doesn't use
Am I the only one watching this on their own accord 😞
Well I'm here as well lol
nope
No
My teacher is making see this

Americans be like: how many football fields Is a kilometer?
AmErIcAnS dUmB lol I'M sO bIg bRaInEd
@@remnant1554 I don't think they're saying americans are dumb, just the system we use is really dumb because all the unit conversions are completely random.
Well I think the metric system is stupid... Why complicate things for no reason for a whole generation of people for shit's and giggles fuck the metric system...
@@RellshouldBsleep if you think metric system is complicated then I feel bad for you
@@RellshouldBsleep how is the metric system complicated? It’s literally adding or taking zeros, no math involved, unless your generation doesn’t know how to multiply or divide by 10 lol. And the change has already been done in literally every other country, just like America, the rest of the world also had their own systems, and they all made the swap sometime in time. The change wouldn’t be something dramatic where everyone would be forced to use metric from one day to another. But kids would need to learn metric since the very first moments of their life, and companies and public services would need to start doing everything with the metric, and probably keep using the imperial in order for the older generations to understand until most people are already used to metric. Look up what Australia did.
Long story short in order to make it simple: ALL units are related, conversion is simple, no confusing numbers and there is no conversion error. This is all the opposite in imperial.
- Length -
1cm = 10mm
1meter = (10 decimeter; not often used) = 100cm = 1000mm
1km = 1000meters; you can convert the rest on your own
- Volume -
1000 mililiters = 1 liter
- Weight -
1000 grams = 1 kilogram
1 metric ton = 1000kg
- Temps -
0°C = 273°K = freezing point of water
100°C = 373°K = Boiling point of water
-273°C = 0°K = lowest temperature in the universe
Convert to metric? You have to know what X in imperial in Y metric is. Google it. Then multiply that X number with Y number. Example: 1 inch in cm = 2,54cm. 5 inches in cm? 5 x 2,54 = 12,7 cm.
Convert to imperial? Basically above but in reverse. Example 1cm in inches: 0,393701 inches. 5cm in inches? 5 x 0,393701 = 1,9685 inches.
wow thank u so much this explanation was wonderful thank u
Why does this video not explain the relationship between linear and volumetric measurement to weight. This is so simple and is the true beauty of the metric system.A cube of 10cm X 10cm X 10cm contains 1,000 cubic cm or 1 litre. 1 litre of water weighs 1 kg. Therefore a cube 1 metre X 1 metre X 1 metre Contains 1,000 litres - 1,000 litres of water weighs 1metric tonne.
Andrew Johnston - Also, One calorie is the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of one kilogram of water by one degree Celsius
Can't believe America is still unable to adopt metrics system!! 🙄
If it weren't for pirates, they would likely have done so
I don’t think the liter is in the base universal system because it isn’t needed as 1L = 1dm^3 = 0.001 m^3
The 7 base units are
- kg for mass
- m for distance
- s for time
- K for temperature
- mol for matter quantity
- A for electric current
- cd for light intensity
And any other measurement can be written as a product of these units for example for speed we use m s^-1
who else got forced to watch this ?
Antespinosa me
me :(
Finally a video that just explains the ideas instead of crying about America not using it for 5 minutes first
In metric, one millliter of water occupies one cubic centimeter, weighs one gram, and requires one calorie of energy to heat up by one degree centigrade - which is one percent of the difference between its freezing point and its boiling point. An amount of hydrogen weighting the same amount has exactly one mole of atoms in it. Whereas in the Imperial system, the answer to "How much energy does it take to boil a room-temperature gallon of water?" is "Are you joking me?" because you can't directly relate any of those quantities.
One calorie

wow this a great video bringing the world together as one just like marvel end game
😂😂😂😂
Thank you. This was very helpful. It help me finish my homework!

Its good to you to lern
I am being forced to watch this :*(
Makayla And Ceaser me 2
Same it sucks school sucks 😭😭
This is fun to whatch and also help full
are you here for school
yup🤦🏻♀️
Yea🤦♂️
no, I just want to learn the metric system so I cant know how to use meters in other countries.
I am forced to watched this...
Lindsay Pastorek me 2
thanks!!
Plz make the video of nervous system
Ok, but where can I buy it?
Buy what RUclips ?
Watching after 7 years 😮
isn't it Celsius for temperature?
Yes it is
Those two are kind of the same. The difference between 20K and 30K is the same as the difference between 50C and 60C. so the size of the degrees are the same.
the difference is what they say 0 degrees is. Kelvin says 0 is the lowest possible temperature in the universe, and Celsius says 0 is when water freezes
thats why Kelvin is used more in advanced science and Celsius is used more in everyday stuff.
Kelvin is used in Scientific formulas only, Celsius is used in public.
If that is so, then why is the Worlds circumference 40,075km and not 40,000km???
Fellas i know you are being forced to watch this but trust me imperial is really fucking anoying to use
Metric system not accepted some country such as america, now universal system is more sciencetific wich is in book all nature moves, with natural units, amazon.in
Thank you for pronouncing kilometre properly. And most people don't need or use factors of 10 and 100, just 1000.
Kilometer, not kilometre. I doubt you are french
@@MelbourneMaster The official spelling for the base unit of length in the SI is "metre" in English and "mètre" in French. There is no such thing as a "kilometer". Even if there was, it would be very useful in games like Call of Duty to tell you how many kills (kils?) you have. It always amazes me how people can be so insular and yet preach misinformation to people from a position of confidence.
@al rode I don't know whom you're referring to by "we", but most people don't use (linear) decimetres for everyday use; scientists definitely don't use them. Linear centimetres are used by everyday people, but are unnecessary. Scientists only use higher order centimetres and decimetres. No one said anything about them being "wrong"; they're just useless, which means it's a set of units people don't need to learn about, and it vastly simplifies the metric system.
Amazing
Is that all it is?? Or is it more complex?
@@k4rn31ro8 1 cm^3 of water weighs 1 g, not 1 L. A cube by 10cm * 10 cm * 10 cm is 1 L
Only Powers of 10
Me too
I am watching this video for myself because i love study
Its good to lern
Thanks

Good vid
is shame US not in metric system ????
Im here for science class so I hate this video because I hate school
Thank u this helped me a lot I watched this after I did my home work. THANKS!!!!!!!!! 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😁
Does not help at all
thinking the metric system is the best unit of measurement is a prime example of being dumb and sounding smart
Honestly didnt learn anything. It was just a history lesson
If it was they would say the french invented it
How can they claim the metric measurement is a universe thing??? Just imagine another planet, bigger x2 of the earth, people 2x bigger than us and they also invent 1m long but hey!!!! For us is 2m long what for them is 1m 🤔........ I still don’t believe that out there in the universe the metric system is the same.
they changed it in 1983. now its based on the speed of light, which is a constant throughout the entire universe.
Ud too
