    My Xiaomi X3 Pro had stopped charging. I had installed a new USB-C board, but that brought no success.
    The problem was that I had not attached the rubbers of the old board, which were installed around the USB-C slot on the new board. That was the missing key :) its working now. 17 € for saving this gem of a smartphone.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 года назад +5

      You're right, usually there would be a thermal pad or paste between the copper tape and the processor as well, but the tape is very flush with the processor so I guess it still does the job since it has the thermal paste on top of the tape still. Not sure what the reason was for not also including one in between the processor and tape, maybe space? no clue.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 года назад +1

      You're welcome. Yes you are correct, it seems it has thermal paste on the outside but none over the chipset itself. Seems kind of odd why they would not include it. Usually some sort of thermal paste or a thermal pad is needed to properly draw heat away from the chipset to the other heat transfer materials.

      I usually try not to use different thermal paste since every type of thermal paste has a conductivity rating. Some are more conductive vs others based of the type of material they are composed of. Using something more conductive can cause your phone to short if the thermal paste gets onto other chips or between resistors making a connection between two chips and so forth.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Год назад

      Hi, its safe, just use a hair dryer instead of a heat gun which is safer against damaging anything. You can gradually heat it so its hot to the touch, just move it around all areas to evenly heat it up. Then you can use a suction cup tool to help you lift up and pull up a side or corner to get your guitar pick in, then you can apply more heat as you work your way around prying it off. You can always use a metal tool like a razor blade etc to get in between the glass and frame without using a suction cup tool, but you would scratch up the frame.

    It looks like no electrically conductive parts behind the back cover just insulated battery, NFC antena, and sub-board cover, right?
    Planned to buy custom aluminum back cover to replace the original plastic one, the seller and review say it's precise.
    But I still doubt if it can screw with something. Also does adding adhesive necessary or loosened post-disassbembly one is enough to hold it in place?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Год назад

      You would need to apply new adhesive to hold it in place, but keep in mind the aluminum will block signal on the back. There are antenna lines drawn on the top and bottom plastic covers (motherboard cover and speaker assembly cover) as well as nfc antenna.

      Hi. Not sure exactly what is causing those issues if it was a bad soldering job on the board or if its the overheating etc. But yeah the thermal paste wasn't the best which was applied on these phones, so you can always replace it with better thermal paste. Just don't use anything that is highly conductive since if it leaks, it will short the phone. Also the issue you said could be both a screen issue or board issue so not sure.

      The phone would still work, but if you open the camera app, if any of the other camera modes are selected, it would freeze the app. Say for example you try to zoom out and it switches to a wide angle lens etc. then it would freeze the camera app since it can't find the camera.

      You can change the thermal paste and add a better thermal paste which can help. Just make sure not to use a thermal paste that is highly conductive so if it leaks or spreads to areas you don't want it to be, it won't short the phone.
