This level is the level people begin to start on broadway...and broadway itself is suggestive. This is a perfect song and perfect representation of her talent. Thus...Her Winning a National award!
this young lady is fantastic - WHAT a voice!!! and yes, if you have the talent and the bravery go ALL OUT. my daughter has done musical theatre from age 10 to now 18 and this material was perfect for Miss Sarah. throw caution to the WIND
what makes you believe she should have chosen different material?? As a performer, I believe it is about portraying a character, making bold choices and telling a story. Captivating an audience so much so they forget the actor and see a character. Performing is about TAKING RISKS. Being VULNERABLE. So, a more cautious choice isn't even an option. Caution gets you kicked out of the competition and not taken seriously.
It just shows how broad a range of acting she has! And caution at this level?! This coould be her big break I'd rather try something risky and out of my comfort zone then play safe. You cant always stay in a little cacoon ecspecially with the oppurtunitys ahead
Haha calm down, friend, she's an actress. This is a character, not a reflection of herself. She's my friend. Believe me. She's not gonna grow up TOO fast.
As she is in high school, I feel the performance was a bit risqué, however - and unfortunately - this is what broadway is looking for...I just hope she doesn't grow up TOO fast.
Winner? Good but not there yet. I bet she will be watching Eva Noblezada in London as Kim in Miss Saigon then Broadway. Eva is obviously the best performer that night. Total package and obviously why Cameron Mckintosh who is one of the biggest creator and producer in musical theater picked Eva.
It's not like they were competing for the role of Kim. -_- Seriously, I agree that Eva is better, but no need to spark the hate flame. Plus people were obviously entertained with this performance. ^_^
Calm it down the compadre. She won for a reason just like Eva got picked for Miss Saigon for a reason. Both very talented in their own ways. No need for hate here, spread the love
Yeah, it's not like they were competing for the role of Kim. Obviously Eva would get that role WAY before Sarah did. Sarah won because she was entertaining. Plus, she showed more control over her voice than Eva did.
Great vocals but is this an appropriate representation of a high school performance deserving of such a high honor? Our young artists should be choosing material and performing with caution especially at this level.
Still one of the best jimmys solos ever

This performance is amazing and her voice is fantastic with such great control vocally. She is fantastic.
She did great... I totally get why she won... :-)
She is a star for sure!

can anyone tell me what Broadway show can I see this Marion girl now
I agree she is a courageous performer. But I will add that suggested moves could be a bit more discreet. Sometimes less is more.

Kristy Kosko If kids can perform Rent, they can sing this song.
