A cargo ship that large and no CCTV cameras on board? Suspicious.
No, it isn't 'suspicious'.
I question why a vessel of that size is allowed to accelerate to 7 or 8 knots in an inner harbor approaching a narrow passage.

Because if they don't travel at least that fast, they can't be steered. You can't steer a ship that's in moving water, (the tide), if you're poking along at 2 or 3 knots.
@@randywl8925and how long it takes to stop it? It seems it was on its way to hit the bridge and it could not steer to avoid the collision. Also it lost power for s couple of seconds before it hit. Very cheesy.

@@alexcannon9364 Tugs escort ships all the way into dock. On departure they escort a ship past critical turning points. Once the ship is able to maneuver on their own the Pilot(s) are in change until the ship completely clears the harbor.
She wasted a time of more than 10 minutes until someone with real facts stepped up to the plate. Vocal fry and verbal diarrhea are useless at time like this.

I had seen that a local channel said they had been having electrical issues for days and had someone working on it. It never should of left port.

Just remember that it takes a ship that size and mass 2-3 miles minimum to come to a complete stop. With the power loss they experienced they couldn't do anything at all until power was restored. If the rudder was not centered, and it looks like it wasn't, the forward momentum of the ship would push it right through a turn. At that point it was already to late.

You DO NOT have a clue how long it takes a tug to get in motion much less get there ! It was only 3 minutes before Impact when they called for them. They haven’t got them started up yet !!
Vessel was underway in the open channel. Tugs may not of been able to get there in time!
The ship and its personnel were clearly compromised and negligent, not properly prepared for departure. This is like a plane taking off and flying right into the tower. Completely negligent..

Tug boats had NO time to get there to stop anything, the good thing is they got traffic stopped, it could have been way worse, even though its extremely tragic...I wonder if that black smoke was a reverse engine's thing, Did they do a reverse try on the ship, seems as if THAT would have been more effective than dropping an anchor, dropping anchor in that flow would pull the vessel more off course...did the person controlling have proper knowledge that dropping an anchor would not STOP it, but cause it to pull even more off course? Anyone who has a boat, KNOWS that an anchor would cause flow to take over direction, Something diesnt add up!
Dropping an anchor with a loaded cargo vessel is probably futile anyway.

It pulled wrong direction port anchor was dropped not starboard if anything being port anchor it should have pulled toward port not starboard towards bridge support.

When it comes to worker safety, no one could predict that a huge ship was going to hit a main support. Which is not up to bridge code. It was unsafe to begin with. Those workers in Baltimore Bridge were as safe as can be. This was just a bad lottery for them. Like what were the odds?

It's amazing that Americans don't seem to understand how the world operates. A business not registered in the United States of America is not covered by insurance in the United States of America. The world doesn't operate like that. The shipping company or its insurance provider isn't responsible or liable to pay costs for another countries infrastructure. Thats the job of the local government. To think that Americans believe a shipping company or its insurance company are the ones to pay for the rebuilding of a bridge in Baltimore is pretty astounding. The local government using your taxes are responsible for building and maintaining your countries buildings and transportation infrastructure.

You can clearly see the ship lost power all the lights went out on the ship for about maybe 30 seconds I believe and then you can see that they got the engine started and I believe they probably put it in reverse which calls the valve to turn further into the pier. I live on the Chesapeake Bay about 30 mi from the Key Bridge I'm going to take a trip up there when I get home in a couple of weeks
