I'm still sad the souls games don't let you hold 999 of an arrow type anymore. Also how DS1 was the last time bows were somewhat strong for being bows. Always loved the Composite Bow on my quality builds.
21:12 I started to panic out of reflex because what in the hell was that? I've been playing this game for like 10 years now and I've NEVER seen Smough do that before.
I is simple man, I see souls-like challenge run, I watch. This challenge run, good, very good, high quality, very entertaining, and somewhat informative
@@k2geekd i mean, it is, like, both have limited uses, require a weapon and additional ammo, or in case of sorcery, spells, ye it might be worse but the similarities are there
@@witha1 « limited use » You can have 999 arrows in every type of arrows, which are to the number of 7. Yes you can only equip 2 at a time, but you can just swap them at any moment in the inventory Saying you are limited with a bow is like saying you are limited with a weapon because of durability (except in the case of cristal weapons because you can’t repair them)
13:14 I recommend watching Illusory Wall's video on invisible walls, he shows how hit boxes look like in the whole game and why you often can't shoot through something and what not. In this case here I think the person making the hitbox that would let arrows go through (they're multiple types of hitboxes) extended it too far out or something like that.

I really love Darksouls 1. It just gives you so much more freedom than the other two games on what classes you play with, at least for me. You get even more rewarded for exploring.
dark souls 2 could've captured that feel with it's many areas and neat ideas but they gave up halfway in and connections aren't good and aside from enemies lots of areas are empty and often shorter than they should be. DS3 is in many expects pretty different to the others so I see it as its own thing, basically 1 and 3 have their own individual strengths and appeal.
Great video! Love seeing simple challenge runs like this every once in awhile. Occult is pronouced "Oh-Cult" btw. I've got a friend with Dyslexia and he struggles with reading it too.
Really love your vids dude. And love to see how u see bows. My playthroughs are most like the assassin. From ds1 to eldenring. Just daggers, bows and sort of katana...friends on co op love my bow skills. Imagine silver knights jump attack on you...and i stand by woth a greatbow and send them fly moments before u get beaten 😉
Imo the best place to farm souls with lbow was anor londo with their giant sentinel. longbow lightning +1, hawkring and standar arrow, only 9 - 10 hit for 1500 souls.
You could have level dex to 40 and str to 27 as you always have two hand bows and use physical damage only comp arrow with large arrows from close range. The hawk ring helps of course with a longer range. A large arrow has a worse range so in some cases worse in very long ranges than the default arrow. Hawk ring+ring of fog+65 range pharis bows can break the game. Feather arrows have more range than default too but that only matters in VERY long-range snipes where you snipe beyond AI's response range... Poison arrows can also be useful usually two shots are enough to proc poison. Occult and divine path physical damage part scaling(from STR, dex) actually soft caps at 50 and not 40 like in the normal path. So 33 or 34 str as you two hand bows. I think the magic damage part soft caps at 50 faith. Split damage goes through two defenses so it often deals less damage than what the AR suggests. But divine gives a bonus and skellies have low magic defense. Some bosses including all DLC are very resistant to elemental damage so split damage is very bad.
Do people not know there's a slumbering dragon crest ring in sens fortress? Asking because I see people killing grigs early and all missing the free one in sens
Great video bro, your stuff is entertaining as hell. I got one question though. Your estus flask is only +4, not +5 and you didn't kill any of the fire keepers besides Darkmoon Knightess I'm assuming, Maybe you don't like killing Qualaag's sister and/or Anstasticia (firelink firekeeper) which is fair enough, I didn't either. But in that case, why don't you get the 5th fire keeper soul from the Duke's Archives prison?
@@AccainGamingyeah. If you get to the bottom of the spiral staircase where the tentacle mommies are, there's a jail cell in the back. You can open it by getting a key from the chest on the left, closest to the staircase that you take to get to the courtyard and the crystal cave entrance. Go back with it and open up the jail cell and a fire keeper soul should be there in the back. Big hat Logan will also be in there if you've proceeded with his quest line so far and will sell you crystal magic weapon.
Oh Okay, I have saved Logan before but didn't remember there being a firekeeper soul there. Thanks for letting me know! This will be extremely useful on the challenge run that I am working on right now
@@AccainGamingNo problem, glad to help. One more thing though, you don't have to do Logan's quest line to get it (I sure as hell didn't) and when I found out about the location of it, everyone I watched rested at a bonfire before going to open the cell. That might have something to do with it, it might not, but I thought I should at least mention it.

Its always fun watching Bow Noobs take on these challenge runs even if your accidentally making things harder for yourselves. Still i appreciate the work you put in to this.
The result you derived from the bow formula is actually wrong. If you multiply by a percentage smaller than 100 the jumber you get is smaller that your initial number. I myself dont know how bows scale. But if they add 39% more damage the correct formula is either AR+AR*39% or AR*139%
I also did a bow only run for the first time around a month ago, i don´t know why you leveled faith to 50 AND bought moonlight arrows when they both pale to the composite bow on a 27 STR/40 DEX build using large arrows, i guess you wanted to kill skeletons? Not knocking on your video, but i don't hate myself enough to level another stat to 50 and waste 500 souls per shot. And you didn't kill the DLC bosses (use feather arrows btw, large ones will miss 50% of the time). By the way the composite bow doesn't actually have that short of a range, and that stops mattering after getting the hawk ring, plus if you need to snipe something from a range the black bow excels at, you could also just grab the fog ring and poison arrows. If you ever want to give the bow only run another try with a physical build grab the composite bow ASAP and never look back, i somehow got 4 slabs before getting enough chunks to upgrade my composite and black bows to +14, so i upgraded every other bow as well, the composite outdamaged every single one but the dragonslayer with its specific arrows (you're never using this in a real battle ever so it doesn't matter lmao), didn't test dark moon with moonlight arrows because i didn't have the stats, but i'd bet it' slightly weaker. It's hilarious how superior this thing is, they should have made this one a long bow and the black bow a short one to give you a reason to use it, which they did in ER, sort of (black bow is a long bow but it can do the jumping/rolling shot thing of short bows).
I see what your saying. I just went on MugenMoneky and looked for the highest damage output, but made the fatal mistake of not taking bosses resistances into account lol
