Won’t ever forget 2014, Amnesia, Ibiza. Didn’t know who PVD was and had no business even being in Ibiza (much less living there for the summer) but a kind soul who shared my name knew I needed to know. Together, with a few others, we spent €15 on 500ml of water to survive the night.
This is one of the guys who, along with BT & Paul Oakenfold, got me into the trance scene. God, it seems like yesterday sometimes. I was 19 when I got my 1st cd. That was in 1998. Now, all this time later, I still LOVE the music from the "king" DJs of the past. PVD is NO exception. He & the other still kick ass!
Those words are good enough, and accurate, he will always be my absolute favorite musician! The positive memories I have as a teenager exploring the frontiers of life and consciousness while wild and free across dozens of sleepless, late nights, when PvD provided the soundtrack, are my epitomes of euphoria. These memories are inextricably intertwined with his music, and often, he was in attendance. In a word, these nights were liberation, at least the closest I've ever come to it. I'll always love Paul van Dyk, his exuberance, his positivity, his creativity, his passion, the people who shaped these memories with me, and the profound sense of joy I experienced from them all. This isn't just great music, this is who I am, who I will always be.
The best in the mix, the best in track´s production, the best in selection of tracks, the best in speed of time, the first, the pioneer, the best in everithing... THE BEST OF THE NUMBER ONES.
nice to read your reply... :) I'm not the expert of trance music, but I love PvD energetic music and always support him since 2004. For me, he will always be number 1 DJ in the world. PvD himself usually refer his music style as Electronic music instead of Trance music, but for ordinary people like me, it's difficult to differentiate them in detail.
I've seen Oakenfold, Tiesto, Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Seb Fontaine back in the day when he played proper trance.......but none has ever compared to PVDs ability to string together a set that gets the crowd orgasmic. PVD = #1 always!
Oh yeah, I saw his Evolution launch set at Future Music, Melbourne 2012. New Order and Swedish House Mafia were playing the "other" main stages. Lots of people left to see them when they started. Within 15 minutes they heard what was happening in the Evolution tent and they all flocked back. It was packed! Thankyou for the time of our lives PvD - been partying with you since 1995. Love.

Zuglos is right...but a lot of ppl thinks today that trance is progressive house,even some DJs as Avicii and Afrojack,today music is played and produced on lower tempo then before,just listen techno today...theres no german shranz anymore and Im glad :)...today music is more spiritual and emotional even techno...better for dance and sounds awesome,organic deep and groovie...take care :)

music is evolved,again for 10-15 years it will be different,for me personally, now it is much better sound(in tech house and techno) and I like it when tempo does not exceed 130bpm max.perfect tempo in my opinion is between 120 and 128bpm and trance was better before,I agree... :)

music is evolved,again for 10-15 years it will be different,for me personally, now it is much better sound(in tech house and techno) and I like it when tempo does not exceed 130bpm max.perfect tempo in my opinion is between 120 and 128bpm and trance was better before,I agree... :)
