    Thanks for taking the time to explain these possible solutions to air leak problems. Teflon tape and pipe dope would seem to be necessary to have on hand, if you own and have to maintain your pool. Often the first thing you hear about fixing any pool problem is - "You need a new pump!"

    Hi When I have my valve on skimmer and drain there’s lots of air circulating and my 3 way jets are pushing bubbles and air.
    When I put the valve in drain mode completely there’s no air everything working great.
    Also when I have it on filtration mode and the valve it’s on skimmers and drain mode my pump it’s pulling air and it’s taking time till the water starts to drain in the pump.
    What is the problem need help please if you have any info.
    And also I feel there is a pressure in the filter when I shut down the pump I feel it from the top head cracking noises as if it’s going to blow out.
    Thank you
    Mike

    Question: I can see that I have a small leak from where the vertical pipe runs into my brand spanking new pump… I have Teflon tape on it, but clearly not sufficiently. Can a very small leak cause the pulsating, lack of suction we experiencing? I see no leakage from any other joint.

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  3 года назад +5

      The pulsation your experiencing sounds like it could be an air leak on the suction side of the pump or the horizontal line coming from the pump. Sounds like every time the pump gets to full prime almost its pull is enough to suck some air from a small leak. Also make sure your pump lid is secure with good gasket

    When water fountain water hits pool water it had bubbles and even kind of foamy?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  3 года назад +5

      Some times you get bubbles on the surface of pools from detergents from our swim wear and also if you have been using algicides in the pool. fountains and water features can sometimes intensify the bubbles caused by these two things. I would try using a pool anti-foam product.

    • @Poolelementary

      It's either your oring on the pump lid or the pvc pipe fitting going into the front of your pump. Water running off your pump lid might of ran down the front of the pump sealing that fitting momentarily also.

    Mine had no way to disconnect the pump from the system they hard plumbed it in. Ughhhh

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  3 года назад +5

      Sorry to hear that it's hard plumbed in. I always curse a bit when I see that but definitely take the time to put a couple of schedule 40 pressure rated pvc unions in so you don't have to next time. It's just some pvc primer, glue and 4 cuts to take the difference out of the two lines to give the unions the room they need. Good luck and as always the choice is yours!👍

    Does anyone know the reason why a pool pump won't fill up with water, I keep hose on for 10-15 min even more and water just keeps going in to pipe coming from pool skimmer, I usually keep the water level on skimmer at least half way so there is plenty of water in the pool. I don't think there is a pipe leak since the water level seems to be normal all the time, i can't figure this out and i have issues with pump priming, what should I do?

    • @Poolelementary

  • @PC-en9mv

    I only get air bubbles when I switch the valve to suck water from the bottom inlet and less from the skimmer basket. My question is do those valves ever go bad?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  2 года назад +1

      They do go bad but normally when you isolate your suction to just the drain or the skimmer it makes the pump work harder and it actually creates more suction which pulls from your air leak harder creating more bubbles. You could take a garden hose and run water over your valve and any of the connections one by one while the pump is running and if the bubble stop then thats your air leak.

    I loose pump prime after I bump the filter. Already did a new gasket on the lid. Pump runs fine for hr.

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  3 года назад +5

      This is a tough one to answer without actually seeing the pool set-up in person. If I were there I would make sure all the pump and skimmer baskets were clean and filter was clean. If they are clean then I would lean towards an air leak and if your losing prime when you bump or wiggle something then you know your close to the leak and problem.

    • @jonathanhillman1710
      @jonathanhillman1710 3 года назад +1

      @@Poolelementary well. It will have bin running for several hr just fine. No air bubbles left in pump. I shut it off and bump clean the filter. Then turn back on. Runs fine for maybe 20 second then the pump completely sucks down. All baskets clean and good water level.
