Yes you are correct Dawn for dies, standard embossing folders and 3D embossing folders, but it does not show instructions for a hybrid embossing folder that embosses and die cuts in one pass. When you put the two together it becomes thick to pass through the machine. I'm still working on it. Will give an update in a future video.
I enjoyed your video..I’m pleased you didn’t break your machine when it got too tight, I broke my old big shot by putting the wrong plates in.. It’s very unusual for me to watch a long video.. but I loved it..Your card was so cool, loved the mechanics too..Thank you Xx
Hi Mandy- Have you tried clear ink and stamped an image for a tone on tone effect? You could use small bird or a branch/green maybe? Then you have no worry on bulk. Let me know your thoughts.
Yes the less dimension on a card the easier it goes through the post, however I love lots of layers, ribbon and bling so I usually pay extra for a large letter so it doesn't go through the machines and get damaged.
This is such a lovely card! I have seen many and made one, but this is prettier. Maybe because you used a larger size than we use in the U.S., the squares are larger and pop more than they do on an A2 card.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I'm so glad to hear you liked my card. Our metric card bases are taller and more narrow than the imperial card bases so it would look a little different in proportion.
If you would like to try this card again using my measurements for your Letter sized card base, I now have the conversion to Imperial measurements on my blog. Here is the link if you are interested: mandyspapercraftcreations.blogspot.com/2024/01/diamond-pop-up-fun-fold-card.html
It seems with my machine that the tension on my rollers is very tight so I was having a bit of difficulty cranking them through. I've done some tests since as well. However I can still use both the dies and embossing folder individually to achieve the same outcome. I love this Hybrid Embossing Folder set. The embossed fonts look amazing.
Hi Joyce. Thank you for watching. I'm so happy that you like my card. As I work in metric measurements for A4 cardstock the measurements do not convert exactly to imperial measurements for Letter sized cardstock. Our card bases are narrow and tall whereas yours are wide and shorter. However I found a video by Susan Campfield making the same type of fun fold pop up card for you and she gives all the measurements in imperial. She uses different Designer Series Paper but the basic card is the same. Here's the link for you: ruclips.net/user/live-KsWHYlV8s4?si=J3PmyERHqY6J9X4-

The clear sleeves are a great idea to protect your cards. However they will NOT give enough protection from the postal service mishandling them. I have seen more than one card ripped to pieces. Not sure if they get caught in a machine or what but evidently they just rip them loose. If the address us still visible they put them in a different envelope and deliver the pieces. None of the afore mentioned cards had any lumpy embellishments either. So both puzzling and frustrating !
I’m so sorry that you’ve had that experience with your cards being damaged in the mail by mishandling. I haven’t had that happen but if they are more bulky cards with ribbon, embellishments and dimension, I always add an extra postage stamp so they send as a large letter and don’t go through the standard letter machines. I find that avoids damage. The rain and moisture is the main reason I use the clear envelopes.
I had quite a problem w the hybrid embossing folder as well. It actually split at the end separating the two pieces of the folder. I actually found using the blending brush much better at applying the ink to the folder than the brayer. Still playing with it. Ughh
Hi Lynn. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm so sorry to hear you had so much trouble as well though. Did you ring Stampin' Up!® to let them know? They may be able to help you. Hi Mandy- Have you tried clear ink and stamped an image for a tone on tone effect? You could use small bird or a branch/green maybe? Then you have no worry on bulk. Let me know your thoughts.
Hi Rebecca. That's a great idea and is a technique I do use at times. Thank you for the suggestion.
It probably would help in going to postage machine smoother and not catching on anything on the envelope
Yes the less dimension on a card the easier it goes through the post, however I love lots of layers, ribbon and bling so I usually pay extra for a large letter so it doesn't go through the machines and get damaged.
The card is shown at 36:50

If you emboss and then cut it will flatten your paper
Good point. Yes it probably would. I will have to do some more testing. Thanks you.

You had cardstock hanging out of the end which caused more bulk at that end.
Ah ok, thank you Jessica. That could have been the problem. I will have to have another go with a smaller piece of cardstock. Thank you.
