Thank you for being so diligent on checking the traps. Those dogs may be feral and need to be controlled but they're still dogs and deserve the respect you give them.
Hey Clarke I met an old dog trapper for the dse in Victoria about 25 years ago hunting in the high country he said Best bait he has ever used is .. he would get every month 4 ltr s of old cooking oil from the local fish shop !! As it had had everything cooked in it MANY smells he would put it in Small bottle dribble some across a game trail or road to the base of a tree …. Set the trap ….. as it’s water proof and as a dog walks with his nose down they will smell it walking the track/ trail !! And does not wash away cheers robbo
Lovely country mate, your very close to where I call home by the looks of that scenery. Keep up the good work Clarky always love watching you and your dogs do your thing 👍🏻👍🏻
She's got the makings of a good little dog the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree 👍oh and on a festive note all the best to you and yours have a good one . 🍺
Here's an idea Clark, to allow dogs to come in to a trap, but not allow cattle in. You know that cattle are bullocking animals, whereas dogs are nimble, in comparison. Can you invent some kind of metal pieces that are easy to install and penetrate the ground, but will at the same time, hold itself in place against cattle knocks? It would also need to prevent cattle from moving past it, whilst at the same time, allow dogs in! Something like this: 1. Metal pieces that you can easily just hammer into the ground. In order for the metal pieces to hold in place, you may have 3 or 4 prongs that fork out as you hammer it into the ground. 2. The metal pieces would probably need to be 3 or 4m away from the trap. 3. The metal piece, once hammered in, may protrude out of the ground about 0.5 to 1m. High enough for cattle to acknowledge it. 4. You can place the metal pieces about 1.5 to 2m apart, around the trap. This may be all that's needed to keep the cattle away from the trap. 5. If 4. doesn't work, then you may consider looping wire between some of the metal pieces. Wire strung between some of the metal pieces, about 1m off the ground, would probably still allow the dogs in, but the cattle out. Regards, Dave (Perth)
Thinking outside the box, good skills. The best way I have found is to use steel posts and old wire, just like a cattle fence. You will see in the next few clips how some of these dogs pick up on slight changes at the trap sites and simply stay away
Great video buddy and yes it looks like young Mossy is going to turn out to be a cracking worker, have a great Christmas and all the best for the new year.
Great content mate. Been watching your channel for a while but haven't commented until now. Mate you have a loyal pup there. Won't replace skunk but I'm sure it will fill the void abit
It’s a credit to you how well them dogs work mate, nothing better to see. You reckon the wild ones have pushed back up into the mountains and forests above you there? Ya usually get them on the cameras moving along the fire trails, sometimes in small packs. Merry Christmas an all the best 👏
Hey Clark, Mate, It’s beautiful scenery mate. The Border Collies are extremely smart dogs, however you definitely bring out the best in your dogs 😃🐕 I really like watching your Patreon Channel as well.. Keep up the great work mate.. We hope that you, your family & your canine teammates have a really nice Christmas & all the best wishes for the New Year Mate 😃👍
When you say northern NSW im thinking out the back of kyogle i know that there's plenty of wild dogs out that way also around out the back of tabalum as well ive seen a few in my travels around out the back of tabalum going roo shooting with local indigenous brothers
Can't say exactly where I go for obvious reasons but lots of dogs in some areas. Hard to pin them down if they are travelling though. Some of the local didg blokes are real good fellas.
Thanks for another great video and another great video Clark and Judy and family. Is there anything your dogs can't do. Merry Christmas and a happy and safe new year to all. Mark from Redlands
Our dogs are no good with money, they would be straight down the pub if let loose!! Fighting and womanising, spinning yarns, a real bad pack. Have a top Christmas.
Hi there Clarke.......did anyone claim that lovely friendly dog you caught in a trap the other week? Can you let us all know next week? I have seen on the news that some parts of Australia have had some bad flooding. I hope all is well with you and yours.
Hey James, the landholder found the owner and delivered ol Blue back safe and sound. The flooding is above us but I think we have some weather heading our way this week
Hopefully with Ms Palaszczuk retiring as Premier of Queensland you can only hope that an incoming Premier is more sensitive to the need of Landowners that have to control invasive none native species, and will listen to those people on the ground who have the best information and not just to the supposed ‘experts’ with letters after their names who have no knowledge of what Landowners actually need.
Howdy Clark!! You and the dogs get put through the sweltering heat then the downpours!! I love watching Mossie and Brandon working the cattle!! for not having been on them but a couple days, they both appear to have the makings of FINE upcoming stock dogs.... Your knowledge and persitence paid off with a second dog in the same trap... Good on ya', Clark!! Safe travels, friend❤❤ Stay FROSTY... Keep your powder dry and your head on a swivel... 🇺🇸🇦🇺WWG1WGA🇺🇸🇦🇺NCSWIC🇺🇸🇦🇺
A rhetorical question is one you already know the answer to. You know damn well why you let Mossy into your heart and you couldn't stop it if you tried. ❤ Do I sense you are struggling a bit? You are entitled to feel that way mate. God bless.
Gday mate few questions I’m from wa got a issue with foxes round the joint the pup can only chase so many haven’t had any luck getting them to step into a trap any ideas or help please cheers mate
Visuals, like feathers or a chicken head, nailed down often does the trick. Think what the are eating in that area and copy, set light, foam under pans not paper. Make very defined entry and exit paths and keep improving your ideas. Merry Christmas
Thanks for a great video Clark. I reckon mossy will turn into a great worker and companion. Brandon also holds himself well with the cattle too. Your a lucky man to have all 3 traveling with you & helping you out. How old is Chancy? Merry Christmas to you & your family.
I’ve heard stories of wild dogs heading into a small community and taking pet dogs back up in the mountains with them to breed. I’ve also seen a wild dog that looked German Shepherd in a state forest I hunt that just pinned the tail and took off as soon as it seen me
Thank you for being so diligent on checking the traps. Those dogs may be feral and need to be controlled but they're still dogs and deserve the respect you give them.
Great work Clark amazing how good the dog is on the cattle already.
Wait till you see how she works on sheep !!

Works well... however, the bycatch of goannas, wild pigs and cats can be very high in some areas.
Good on you Clark, job well done in any weather cobber.🤠
Mossy does look very keen to work. Thanks for sharing 👍
You have the privilege of working through such beautiful country. Hard work, value add work but, so privileged. Thank you for sharing. DH

A LNP victory at our next election with ON Steve Andrews and KAP holding the balance of power will see huge improvements

That country is looking really good . How many head do they run .
Not sure on this property but probably around 2000 breeders plus calves and bulls
Thanks for a great video Clark.
I reckon mossy will turn into a great worker and companion. Brandon also holds himself well with the cattle too. Your a lucky man to have all 3 traveling with you & helping you out. How old is Chancy?
Merry Christmas to you & your family.
Chancy is about 9 now. Dog of leisure now
Yeah we'll give you a cleaning next month. If ya need it or not. Comic relief is good on ya's.
I did a clip on some of my old shooting irons but can't seem to find it. Will post when I do. Have a top Christmas
Did ever find the owner of the pet dog you caught
Yes, the next day he was home
Jeez, Im pretty sure those jeans can be washed. just.spray some soapy water on them, pls. 😊
They are 🤣
What happened with the pup you rescued from the trap?
He commented above about this. The land owner found its owner and handed him back 👍
Could you mate a wild dog to domestic dog ,?
Sure can. The Aussie Blue dog is testament to that. In the wild, these are the ones that cause most of the issues
I’ve heard stories of wild dogs heading into a small community and taking pet dogs back up in the mountains with them to breed. I’ve also seen a wild dog that looked German Shepherd in a state forest I hunt that just pinned the tail and took off as soon as it seen me
What area of NSW are in Clark?
Outside Grafton
@ClarkMcGhiesWildCountry I just left there yesterday arvo.
