they're certainly appealing but I think it's only sad when when there are no conservation efforts. That's why we have certain laws. Cutting down trees is how we enjoy a lot of the things we take for granted but the practice itself shouldn't be frowned upon. The important thing to remember is that they are "renewable". Of course there are certain trees that might hold extra historical value or some kind of significance. I agree that those should be protected at all cost as long as they're healthy and not a hazard. it wasn't a nice feeling when they cut down my local golf course willow trees for houses so I understand the frustration.
