Bros FOURR Speed I just dumped $10k to go FBO. I get the car back tomorrow. Personally, you may want to go ahead and get a pro tune if you haven’t done so already. I just started watching your channel as I was looking at similar GTRs to see what I am going to expect. I also went Ecutek as oppose to Cobb. Same functionality as Cobb. Typically done with a mobile app on phone. Awesome gtr, I also got a similar exhaust setup.
#Built_By_Chris I tried a TCM tune for a bit from the Cobb. But I uninstalled that. So the trans is all stock. I doubt the ECU tune would do anything to cause an issue. I’ve been on this tune for a year. We’ll see lol
Hi mate, can I ask - was this an issue with the transmission in the end or just a quirk? Now my finances are in order the saving towards a down-payment begins! In a year or so I might just have enough to get one at an affordable monthly cost, haha. Love the videos, you’ve taught me more in the time I’ve been watching than anyone - love and admire the fact you keep it real-life.
Turns out it was the clutch slipping. I learned much more about this once I went to Flex Fuel. Here's a video all about adjusting the transmission. Havent had the problem since. And it seems to be extremely common for GTR's once they go Flex. But you can adjust the clutches ;) ruclips.net/video/PuOqcvoQJBg/видео.html
Hey, I Just got 2019 Premium with 53 miles on the clock and loving it. Still breaking it in. Definitely go for 2017+ much better looking in and out. Love your channel. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Just make sure that you do it soon as 2020 is the last production year before they stop so they will go in value.
@@StreetDrivenDailyit depends on what you need. A shep1k is 16k, but that's a whole upgrade. You can always just fix what needs to be fixed, which starts at around 2k. But no, you dont have to change a whole transmission anymore. It's a myth that you have to change the transmission if one part fails. Dealerships just change the whole thing if you are still under warranty...mostly, they just want to upsell. But no, changing the whole trans for a new unit is not needed at all.
According to my last conversation with Shep, they are working on more affordable trans parts that will cost no where near the cost of the 1k transmission and provide similar performance to the 1k. I believe that is the point Shep was trying to relay to me.
I have a 2016 GTR.. it hasn't happened to this extent. where it's very noticeable. but honestly what I think it is just letting the car warm up to its full operating temperature, you shouldn't have any problems. The transmission fully works off off of temperature.
jalberto181 Yeah it wasn’t quite warmed up. And never does it cold in automatic. And I’ve never had issues pushing the car at optimal temps. So I’ll keep an eye out
My 2008 never did that and I've been FBO for 140,000km. But I broke 3 transmissions so far and one was a Jacks Built one. It's 08 because I am in Japan.
Gotcha. I'm sure yours had some transmission weak points since it was first year. Mine has been running fine and I'm now on E85. I adjusted the clutch capacity to +4 and havent had an issue. On E85 it was slipping a bit. So that was the issue I think
Hey man love the flames!!!!! I have a 2009 gtr I just got a few months ago. It’s fully bolted stage 3 with a upgraded Shepard transmission. I will say with the little time I have drove it I have never had my transmission do the shift thing yours did.
Mine does this very occasionally (possibly 4 or 5 times in the past 2 years) when cold and shifting manual, all settings in normal, typically mid or less throttle when going 2nd to 3rd coming off a bend. I have updated circlips and magnets in my gearbox and after some research just put it down to a quirk when cold. Car is tuned on ecutek FBO sitting at 660bhp
Mine does this too . In way I’m glad to see someone else with this issue mine . Mine is the same year model as yours but I run a ecu tek tune. Have you fixed the problem yet ?
Interesting. This has only happened one other time since filming the video. So I'm not concerned. I think it only happens if things aren't all the way warmed up and in manual

How has the car been holding up with the flame tune so far? My question is related to longevity. I’m thinking of getting my GTR flame tuned and using it once a while for some photos and videos. Just wondering how it’s going?
Overall I owned this car for 5.5 years . Never had a single issue with the car. As far as the flame map, I probably used it 5 times. To make this video and a few other videos. And then one time when we dove to Michigan and back I used it driving through the tunnels to make some noise. So if you do like I did, just for fun a few times, I wouldnt worry about it. These cars are rock solid, just drive them well and they will last.
Hi, I have a 2018 GTR Premium and I experience a mild bang noise when adding a little fuel during reverse with cold trans oil. Apparently this is normal. Im taking mine to the dealer on Monday to check the left front wheel, its making a clicking noise while turning to the right. It can't be the CV joins since the boots are fine however I've read that all models suffer from the dreaded clicking noise due to the caliper clips.
R3n3-C4RD#N4 I have that same sound when in reverse. I hate the way it sounds. But Nissan told me it was normal. 2 years later all the joints look good
Hmm, didn't you replace the fluid at some shop and not the dealer? The dealer may not warranty it because of that if its covered. :( Looks like its flaring. Could be the fluid they used in it too?
KillaBandit Cars out of warranty anyway. But I went to the best shop in the game and we used better oil then stock too. I think it was a computer fluke. We’ll see
It's probably your transmission slipping then. Now that I'm on E85 with 700 HP I've learned more about the transmission. I have the clutch capacitors at +4 and it hold the power well. Normal setting it slips the clutches.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed i sure hope it's not my transmission going out lol gonna get a transmission fluid change tomorrow so we'll see if that helps anything.. haven't changed it in 50k miles
Mine does same thing occasionally, only worry about it if it gives you codes for torque management. I upped everything to 1 on the cobb (clutch seals on a 2009 not as good as 14) and the issue seemed to go away. How did you get flames with cobb? My tunner says you need ecutek for flame map. 🤔🤯
James Robertson Interesting. The only code my car has ever thrown was a low voltage for abs last year. But that was because my battery kept dying. Haven’t had any codes since then. I’ve done remote tuning with AAM Competition. The stage 3 tune has all the maps I show in the vid. It’s not a super aggressive flame map for safety reasons. I rarely drive in that. Mainly stick with the high boost map
I got a 2010 gtr and I get the transmission slip when In R mode in automatic happens a lot especially when at a red light or stop then go to roll in 1st gear it doesn’t go as if it stalled then it fixes itself and goes it’s really weird
Stage 6 with AMS to fix it. Plus if down the road if you super it up if you are going to keep it CBA are ok the DBA is the best they fix all that iuess.

I heard from some owners of MY17 that the transmission has been improved, do you think it's an issue with all pre MY17? Your one should have had upgraded gearbox from the early models. Do you also think the flame map has anything to do with it? Owners usually worry more about the turbo because of the flame map.
HP Adrenaline I know 2014 was a major updated trans compared to the previous years. And then 17 is also a nice update. I did not have the flame map on when it happened. I only use this map every now and then so I think it’s just a glitch in the trans
Karez junaid I did custom remote tuning with AAM Competition. I run the standard tune they sent me, but will switch to the flame map they made for my car every now and then. So you’ll need a custom tune
Sean Waterloo Luckily all my parts will fit on a 17! I’d just have to sell my Cobb tuner and get a different one for a 17, or just do custom tuning. So I’d be in the same FBO car, just with less miles, newer condition and the updated car
Car is getting high miles for a gtr you should sell now while you can before you have to replace a transmission and get a newer 18 or 19 definitely stick with a gtr tho

HP Adrenaline I know 2014 was a major updated trans compared to the previous years. And then 17 is also a nice update. I did not have the flame map on when it happened. I only use this map every now and then so I think it’s just a glitch in the trans
thats my dream car
NAW22 Was for me too! Keep working towards it!
Still waiting on the dyno results of Godzilla...
DarudeOwnageZ I’m planning on that this year!
Do a Jacks S800
Hope it gets fixed !
Where did you get the flame map for Cobb?
All my tuning was with AAM Competition
Thank you! I get my gtr dyno tuned tomorrow should be making almost 1000 whp.
That's awesome! I bet that will be an absolute beast to drive!
Love to meet you one day I have seen alot of your video! Enjoy your content. I’m in Georgia, I believe you are in north Carolina so not to far.
I really want to get a GTR someday
Ivan Beechy Keep working towards it!!
Time for it to go it's not something quirky with Nissan it's your transmission talking to you I see a Lamborghini huracan in your future
My 2008gtr doesn’t even do that 😂 people will probably wonder why i drive an 08 reason being it costs as much as a nismo in the us
We never got a 2008 in the US, I'm guessing you are not in the US? If so, they are not that expensive?
@@BrosFOURRSpeed live in singapore, gtrs are all 2008, going for about 190k sgd, 2017 recently sold for 400 k sgd without coe and taxes
@@aLim-zp6zo more expensive than in malaysia?
I hope I win. Lol can’t wait for the results.
Bro i don't think you will win! after they pick the comment they will look at your face too loool
Hi man, I have Cobb accessport does it has flame tune in it or is its specially tuned for you. Thanks
Karez junaid I did custom remote tuning with AAM Competition. I run the standard tune they sent me, but will switch to the flame map they made for my car every now and then. So you’ll need a custom tune
Love it man! Next time you are in Greenville. Hit me up. I live in Greer, and have a GTR and a Gen 5 Viper.
@chrismooremafia
Moore Mafia Oh sick! I rarely make it that way. Mike gets there every few weeks tho
Hopefully the issue goes away. Has the transmission oil been changed regularly?
Alex Monte Yeah right on schedule at 35k miles had it done. Part of me thinks it’s still just a computer fluke. Haven’t happened in the last month
But would going to a 2017 be an upgrade with what you've already done to this one? Could you take the after market parts off and use on the 2017?
Sean Waterloo Luckily all my parts will fit on a 17! I’d just have to sell my Cobb tuner and get a different one for a 17, or just do custom tuning. So I’d be in the same FBO car, just with less miles, newer condition and the updated car
@@BrosFOURRSpeed well that don't sound too bad then.
Qwerky car or cheaply manufactured?
Noobertmcnoob quirky car lol
I love that tune but if it damages the car is it really worth it? Hell of a car tho!
Jacob Werner I rarely run the flame tune. That’s slightly unsafe. But the normal tune won’t cause any issues. These cars can easily handle FBO.
Nice gtr 👌
I need a go pro so i can do a review of a new bicycle im getting since i cant afford a gtr😢😂🤠
I have a gtr keychain without a gtr 😮😂😞
The life of Pablo lol. Soon enough you’ll have the key to go on it!
Car is getting high miles for a gtr you should sell now while you can before you have to replace a transmission and get a newer 18 or 19 definitely stick with a gtr tho
RanchyRansel Yeah we’ll see. I’d love to find a nice 2017!
What do you think is gonna be faster you're GT-R or you're new 2020 corvette?
The life of Pablo GTR! Lol
@@BrosFOURRSpeed i thought so too especially that you're GTR is tuned but once they make the c8 zr1 thats gonna be cray lol 😲😂
The life of Pablo Yeah a supercharged or turbod C8 will be epic!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed fr it would well if you get one i know you and you're bro would take it apart and make it awesome thank you for taking the time to reply 😀
