    My Father returned from Vietnam alive and bought a brand new 1970 340 Duster 4 spd. That car only had 1 option.
    An 8 track tape player. It was so cool riding in it. I was 10 then. He buried the speedo in NV on Rt. 50.
    It was Orange/ Black, Awesome, Regards from Ody Slim

    Hey Chris, relative newcomer to your channel. I originally watched the first 10 minutes of the 1st Mayhem rebuild video but got side-tracked and forgot. Fortunately, I got another notification recently. Over the past 10 days I have binge-watched most of your channel and absolutely love your content, attitude and style. I live in the North of Scotland and doubt I’ll even see a Charger or some of these Mopars in the flesh.

    Gee I have heard of many lemons and cars breaking down very often and I have owned some. But this seems to be the champion of cars breaking down non stop! It seems even more unreliable than a lousily maintained Lambo of the late Sixties and early Seventies. You had more breakdowns in less than a week than I had with my Belair in 38 years!
    While these mopars are cool, loud, fast and beautiful, after seeing this I am kind of happy that I am a GM guy.

    • @70stunes71
      @70stunes71 4 года назад

      A lot of my friends are GM guys and I take a verbal beating also for my Mopar love. But honestly I think a lot of the problem is that these cars do not get driven very much. People that are all the time driving their vehicles, find these issues and they get sorted out through the summer months of driving them. If all they do is set 99% of the time, I think the issues compound over the months, and then when you do want to drive it they all come out like a pack of gremlins

    Do you have return on the fuel system? It seems the only way to keep pumps working these days. You will need to get an anodised pump and reg for E85 as the stuff is hydroscopic and absorbs water big time. Dont leave it sitting in a vented tank either as it goes off quick. Nearly as bad as methanol.

    Your fuel pump issues are simple. The ZIP TIES are not tight enough to give you a good ground!!! lol...
    Also, I'd suggest a Gear Venders over/under drive. Once in you can leave your drag gears in and still cruise 80 at under 2000 RPM.

I had a 70 Duster blue with a 340 I built all of it had a 727 reverse valve body with a 391 suregrip , 15 1/2" Hoosier street drag radials and it would move and had I think 450 hp nitrous twin stage which I never got to use cause when the guys built my heads said there were stress cracks in the plug area and said they wouldn't last if I kept using it , anyways that was cool you got to stop by flying sparks garage , and you made it home safe and sound alot more moneys less , waiting for your next video

    Evacuators, the header 1 way valves., also on the roadkill master cylinder the valve in the master cylinder you removed is called R.P.V. residual pressure valve, 2-3 psi constant for drum breaks. thank you for such fine videos,,,,!. Bernie

  • @williamstamper442
    @williamstamper442 4 года назад

    Im late to this party, just found this vid...11:19 either the header evac nipples are in the wrong place or wrong angle...and mufflers have nothing to do with it...
    Header evac kit from moroso on my 13.75 to 1 compression Olds 455 in my 70 442 worked so good that at 1100rpm idle id pull the breather from either side connected to their respective hose and the bottom of the breather would stick to the palm of my hand like a strong magnet! Had to tilt and twist it to get off my hand. Went from oil pushing out every orfice to neg crankcase pressure and 11.20 et's with et streets, tail pipes and 180 temps on the road 120 miles to norwalk ohio.
    Only thing about a header evac system is seating the rings on a fresh ring job....leave it disconnected and let it push oil until the rings are happy. You will definately know, as the engine will go from using more and more throttle to maintain speed to all of the sudden sounds real happy and finiding yourself having to lift the throttle to maintain freeway speeds. That scenario was with childs and albert zero gaps. I probably wont use them again. The engine is normally aspirated but still i have my doubts on zero gaps. Ive run total seals with slightly better results, but neither ring package can take boost (nor can the almost 14:1 static compression).
    Check your header evac system and make sure the check valves aint backwards or something simple like that...because im a big believer in the system as the ring seal is Way better with the system than without.
    Thanks for reading.
    32:34 you short shifted it...the 3.91 with 28 in tires at 118 thru the traps must have been about 6900...hang each shift a little later im thinking 4th would have been just before the traps and 120mph...done well, im just sayin
    In the mid and late 90's i used to lead about 15 12 and 11 street car 4000lb oldsmobiles from Detroit to norwalk for our meet. Everybody put me up front because i was good at leading and had the deepest gears, 4.30s i had no problem spinning 3800 to get the 120 miles but constantly had to slow down for the 3.42 geared guys, lol... I miss those times. Yes i run race gas and put a friend in my half ton chev p/u full of fuel and tools and spares but never hardly used it for myself. I gotta find the pics taken going around a gentle sweeping left turn and seeing 15 good looking restos behind me bumper to bumper. My car then was a patina car that i took the body off and did floor pans and frame and suspension like a show car but dropped the faded roof surface rusted outside body on it. First time out with the big motor that made 575hp on the pump thru a manual reverse th400 with a column shift...it didnt go well. The car went way quicker with a cheetah shifter.
    Life got in the way, i need this car to run again.

    Were the lash caps installed because of a .650 lift camshaft or higher or were they used to correct a rocker geometry issue? That sucks to find out not only do you have a single disc clutch, but the porting was non existent and you inadvertently cranked down the rockes as if you had a hydraulic roller cam when it actually was a flat tappet camshaft! Should run a whole hell of alot better with the correct valve train lash!!

    Use Samsung SD cards, they make their own memory in their own factory and i would say its way more reliable than other brands. also the data may be corrupted but there may still be some that can be saved depending on how bad its corrupted.
