If the musician says it is metaphorical and not literal, who is anyone else to say they are wrong because it doesn't fit your perception of it?

Not only because of the success of the song within the South London music scene but to help showcase F+TM to a wider auidence. The music video was released on the 25th November 2009 to be exact hence the strong 2009 aesthetic.

Even though this isn't what her signature "sound" has become now, I absolutely LOVE this song. It introduced me to Florence, and my favourite artist. Its got a special place in my heart.

This video is so different to her ones now.. it's just so plain, but beautiful. It's different from so many other videos by other artists with so much going on, really makes you focus on the music, and her beauty, wow!
I remember hearing "you've got the love" at age 8/9 and loving it so much. I then saw "shake it out" on a music channel and fell it love with it. I watched Wild Child and heard this song. I clicked that it was the same artist - and realised I'd fallen in love with Florence + the Machine's music. Bloody hell Florence has come so far from this video and I love how much she's changed, in a good way of course! I've been a fan coming up close to ten years (still a few off mind) but I just remember using up all of my internet data to watch her music videos repeatedly. I can remember being so excited about "Shake it Out" I recorded the television programme to listen to it all the time! My dad bought the song for me on iTunes and it has now been played over 2,000 times. I'm not joking. That song was my jam for so long. Still is. But I love all her songs! She's an incredible singer and the band really gives a sense of community and I couldn't be happier to be in the flow family :)))

Started listening to florence when I was young now everytime I go in the car we put her songs on really loud, windows down and rock out. My 2 year old sis even loves her its a wonder she doesn't have a concusion from rocking out. Makes car rides all the better, other drivers must think we are crazy but they ain't wrong. Its entertaining when your 59 year old nan with pains in most bones and muscles still rocks out hard. All the joys of living in a family with punk rockers as history

I can relate to this song so much! Im against domestic violence and stuff, but me and my boyfriend often playfight. and on extreme levels(more like wrestling) sometimes even hurting each other and leaving bruises, and laughing like hell afterwards, but that happens even thought we love each other greatly and 've been together for 2 years... we never had a serious fight, and i think its because the negative energy you waste in this kind of "violent" (but lovely) behavior, that makes us immune to other kinds of couple problems :3
