yeah... if hes gonna stay then atleast cash in and fight the old veterans, frankie vs Cruz would have been perfect yet, hes fighting these young hungry savages, like you said tho, he did it to himself.
That’s a fighters pride for you, you have to believe in yourself to such a point that it could be delusional if the results aren’t there, but frankie competing against the young guys just feels cruel now especially after another brutal KO.
Did you see Ari and shane mentioned you on rogan’s podcast, rogan’s response was suspicious, he tried to make it seem like he didn’t know who you were but I didn’t buy it, his voice got higher and got defensive
He knew, the only people more sensitive of critique than fighters are comedians. They both use the same non sensical defence of 'you've never walked the walk'.
I think the rematch shows Usman has become in love with his striking to his detriment. Every shot he threw seemed to be with the intent of koing Colby and in the later rounds Colby countered very well when Usman overextended. Usman didn't gas per say but he slowed down on the feet and Colby was able to land 3/4 punch combos before Usman could threaten him.
That's an interesting take. I'm not sure usman fell in love with his striking, so much as he realized that standing with Colby and trying to control the pace of the fight was the best. I don't think Usman is a natural striker, though. He certainly has ability, and the fact he was able to improve so much is a testament to the work he and trevor Wittman have done. But Usman does not look comfortable on the feet. So he sticks to what works for him and doesn't change things up too much in the middle of a fight. Colby seems like a more natural striker, which is why he was able to adapt and fluidly change his approach midfight.
The thing is that his striking is pretty basic. It's a 1-2 and a 3-2 from orthodox and he does some switch hitting and inconsistent body work here and there. For the most part his power and explosion plus the takedown threat allows for the basic to become dangerous. Fighting Colby, the takedown threat is vastly diminished. He dinged Colby pretty good in that second round, but he did expend some energy there without a payoff since Colby took it and realized it wasn't so bad and that he should be coming forward more aggressively to try to stiffle Usman to force him to keep throwing the predictable basic so that Colby could counter him with volume and what I believe to be a superior gas tank. It was a dangerous strategy due to the power but Colby had nothing to lose after that second round.
@@Oakshield2 he’s never advertised himself as technical and neither has Trevor imo, they always say Kumaru is a champ because of his jab and their approach is more like do the basics at an elite level
