- How the Mafia Works? | The DARK TRUTH For over 100 years “Cosa Nostra” ruled over one of the richest and most influential cities in the world, New York City. At the same time for decades, the FBI “denied” that they EVEN EXISTED!? 👀
They went from small fractured factions, with no clear leadership or structure, into what can only be described as a multibillion dollar corporation. With a rigid structure, a code of conduct and almost all the other fun stuff we see in any fortune 500 company.
How does the Mafia work?
What was their secret?
Why and how was the Mafia so powerful?
Just like any other corporation, the mob established a solid hierarchy and structure that allowed them to reign for as long as they did. Maranzano saw Cosa Nostra as the new roman empire and himself as its Caesar.
But looking past these ideas of grandeur, Lucky saw how effective this structure actually was.
See let's explore how this shadowy world REALLY works and unveil what they DON'T want YOU to know...
Enjoy 🌹

@@TheCultureMafia in the culture of Boardwalk Empire
Absolutely!!
@TheCultureMafia can you make a video covering the rackets?
@@jacobweems3316 if you don't pay me I will break your window. Yes I would love to hear about that.
I worked in an Italian resto once, and got chills when the owner's wife honestly and seriously said "There is no mafia, it's all a story like Lord of the Rings"
They’ll never admit to it. Rule #1.
Frank Cullota who was in the mob with Tony Spilotro in Vegas has a brother who is still alive named Joe. Joe was talking about the Outfit in Chicago and then said, "Well, if there is an Outfit". I think Omerta was part of the social fabric for Italians because Joe was not in the life. He was a barber.
Omertà
Looking at the making of The Godfather it seems like it is more than a Tolkin fable.
Ohh, she’s the one to watch out for!
One thing about old mafia- they all were impeccably dressed.
back in the old days everyone was impeccably dressed. as late as the 1960s my mother would make me get all dressed up just to go out to buy a loaf of bread. my father would wear a suit just to go out to buy a newspapaer, thats how people were in the old days. not like present day people look so scruffy even going to church and work.
" It should have been perfect, but in the end...we f**ked it all up! "
Casino, 1995
Just when I thought you couldn't get any better. Excellent work. More please.
Thank you for the video ❤ making it more interesting to learn.
Thanks for the amazing video ❤
Great video would love to see more
Thanks for putting Boardwalk Empire in your montage. I love that show.
As I'm sure as some/Many of you probably know, Former Caporegime Michael Franzese goes into detail of what it's like to actually be a Mob Associate, Unpaid Intern is a good way to sum it up.
He'd work a full day at his civilian job, then drive into the city waiting at the Social Club all night to be given gopher tasks, or not. You stay until you are dismissed. Then he'd have to get up early and do it all again. You work your butt off.
yeah but Michael rose really high to the ranks in the Family and even was number 2 once. Even his Father was a Capo back in the old days
Unpaid? So for what, to not die?
@@chocolatecream5593 unpaid as in they are not given anything to do what their bosses order them to do. You don't get money for hits either. You earn from your own rackets and kick up a piece to your boss. That's how it works.

He was about 280 lbs and hand hands so big, his fingers were like sausages, he was a bad man back in the day, I was only16 yrs old then, i`m 60 now, he retired and travels in a huge motor home now, hes still scary.

Johnny Torrio, actually brought the idea to Luciano about forming the commission after being in retirement. He just never received the credit.
Really?
There's records of a national Mafia council going back to the late 1890s. Since New Orleans had the oldest form of Cosa Nostra in the United States, initially, they led this Council. By the mid to late 1910s, there were approximately 27-28 families from throughout the country that belonged to this Council. By the time Luciano took out Maranzano, New Orleans was considered grandfathered. They weren't subject to the rules other families were subject too. The structure of Cosa Nostra was already in place. The Commission origin is a romanticized origin story.
Actually a form of Commission was in place for years before Luciano came to power. This is a nice entry level video but does contain a fair few errors. Lovely editing though.

Interesting and informative. Excellent photography job making it easier for viewers to better understand what/who the orator was describing. Class A research project!!! Some of those street thugs fiercely fought climbing the organized crime syndicates ladder. To reach the status of 'God father' ruling a loyal family. Not an easy task by any means. A life style of danger/treachery/schemes.

Greed, power, and ego will always bring down an organization. Too bad, what's going on in the streets today would never be happening if old school Cosa Nostra was around
So true
If you really knew these people, then you would realize how much they have in common with a lump of crap. They are the worst of humanity, make no mistake. Why are you admiring parasites?
They were murdering criminals but had a framework of rules with consequences. The criminals today pretend to be politicians, corporate execs, bankers and so on. Surprisingly they are way worse with one reason being little to no rules with consequences.
Cosa Nostra evolved from the street corners. It’s more beneficial for them to stay out of view and keep things underground. The street gangs are all fractured and there’s no unifying factor. The Mafia started moving out to the suburbs in the late 1980’s. The cities are crazy and they didn’t want to raise their families there.
Nonsense in the early days of the Mafia they would shoot each other in the street
They don't have what they had before.
1) Surveillance is much more intricate and easier for the authorities. Listening devices, wire taps, filming.
2) Rico laws it make much more easier for prosecution with extensive prison sentences.
3) Lengthy prison sentences act as incentive for someone to come clean to avoid going to prison. There was a kid in the USAF who was involved in a drug ring. He would make drug runs back and forth to England and Turkey in an AF plane where it was easy to conceal deliveries. He was making lots of money where he could afford vacations to Monte Carlo in 5 star hotels. On one run he was returning from Turkey, and he was snorting cocaine on the plane. He went into a coma and woke up in a military hospital with his room under guard. A Jag attorney told him, "Let's make a deal." It was explained to him that they found all of the drugs and he could be the one who is holding the bag and will have to face the consequences. But there was a light a the end of the tunnel. The lawyer gave him an offer he couldn't refuse. Come clean, tell everything about the organization and he would be given an honorable discharge, a clean record and all benefits. Omerta was out the window and he sung like a canary. He came out clean and 15 of his AF "buddies" went to prison for a "while" in Leavenworth which is no joke.
4) It's becoming more and more known that if you join up with one of these organizations or a gang, your chances for existence are not too good. Rival gangs are a threat. If someone in that makes a mistake, the organization does not hand out bad evaluation reports. 1 in three spend about an average of 20 in prison. Plus it's constant stress. When one of those guys is married, the family home life is a catastrophy. Very few of them want their children to follow in their foot steps.
In spite of popular belief, most people in organized crime do not make a lot of money.
@@kevinhealey6540cap
@@kevinhealey6540 they make enough money. lets take joe valachi as an example. the guy in this video who first talked about the secrets of la cosa nostra.valachi was a low ranking soldier who owned two restaurants, bought his house in yonkers with cash, owned two race horses, sent and paid for his son to go to military school. that was the legit bit do you still think they dont make a lot of money ?

I would like to see the history of the Sicilian mafia, roots, origins, not just the American mob
American mobs are just glorified crews.
No matter what you think of the man, Luciano was a criminal visionary.
The Sicilian Mafai got a huge boost from the Royal Navy-the RN bought the entire sicilian lemon crop (to keep their sailors from getting scurvey); the Mafia monopolized the growing of the lemons

It would be wise to all who are interested in how the word 'Mafia" got its name and the circumstances of what went down in Sicily a long time ago.
the word mafia is an amalgamation of ma meaning my and fia meaning daughter. so it should read MA FIA my daughter. those were the words utterd by a mother after her daughter was raped by some soldiers so it should go MA FIA, MA FIA, MA FIA my daughter my daughter my daughter. so the mafia was formed to protect the local people from bullying officials or administrators in honour of the girl that was raped it was set up and used the words MA FIA which over time became one word MAFIA.
I believe it was some French soldiers (dont know the time frame) were stationed in some Italian town and they were taking some young woman away off the street to go 'play' with her and the mother of the daughter started yelling 'my daughter, my daughter' and the town's people jumped in and rescued her. Mia figila is 'my daughter' in Italian. It has been awhile since I read this story so some details are shady but the main point is the mother calling for help for her daughter.

This video has an interesting narrative, but I'd recommend not watching the video and instead just listen to the audio.
Reason?
@@TheCultureMafia
There appears to be minimal connection between the topic being narrated and the images being shown. I certainly appreciate the energy and content of your videos. Very commendable effort. The visual portion should relate to the narrative, for example, if the narrative is describing a particular person, a still frame of that person is preferable to images of another person unconnected to the narrative.
I recognize that moving images helps to encourage a sense of attention-grabbing for viewers, however unrelated images detract viewers.
Again, your videos are interesting, but stay on topic when using images. Thank you and continued success.
The Sopranos was really strange by adding "there is no Mafia" when Meadow was talking with Tony. This was after the five families being destroyed by Feds with the Rico act and Gotti getting a life sentence. By that time La Costra Nostra was almost nothing but their name.
I don’t think you follow modern Cosa Nostra news. Lol. The Five Families we’re not destroyed by the Feds. That’s complete Fed cheerleading. All they did was take the Bosses out who were the bosses at that time. They had new ones in place within a few days.
@@truthteller4442 I remember the feds taking away most of big jobs the Mafia had(namely the unions). They're nothing like they were pre 85' and this is stated by former Mafia members. The golden age of the Mafia was gone after the bosses were put away.
@@Graywing They’re still very much involved in the unions. Especially in Chicago and New York City. Former members are one of two things….bitter rats that have been out of the Mafia for way too long and have zero clue about what’s actually going on inside of it, or guys like Franzese who despite being out of the life still has many friends in the life and would never come out and say “Yes, they’re still thriving.”
@@truthteller4442 You forgot to mention these new bosses are a bunch of nobodies with no reputation and modern Costa Nostra is as good as dead.
@@blokin5039 Liborio Bellomo has been around forever. Same with Lorenzo Mannino and Dom Cefalu of the Gambino Family. Also, same with Salvatore DeLaurentis of the Chicago Outfit. These guys are essentially All-Star leadership for the Mafia. These guys are all super old school leaders with excellent track records. They keep everything low key as it should be. I think you’re lost and should talk about topics of things you actually know about, because you’re clueless on this topic.
They don’t say mafia they say the families
in new york they say COSA NOSTRA which means our thing or this thing of ours. thats why in america they say there is no mafia because it wasnt known as the mafia in america but in all intents and purposes it is the mafia but over time in america this got lost in translation or its the mafia in an americanised form.
