E92 M3 owner here: Without ESP (and ABS, sensor broke) it tends to move/get instable on the rear axle when breaking hard. Seems to be an engineering design choice for this generation, although mine has KW V3 suspension.
@@tfm-kq2jt I read that it makes the 420 HP without cats, otherwise around 380 HP to 400 HP. For me the Ex M3's are not about pure performance, but driving pleasure and emotion (sound).

the E9x was the last one with hydraulic steering, with a "real connection".The newer generations all have electrical steering with no real connection. Thats why the E9x feels more connected
not saying it´s bad, feels nice. My dad has a bmw f30. But for track use or a more connected feeling to the road, hydraulic steering is the way to go @@TenPainHD

And then you sit into a car with electric power steering and it might as well be drive by wire, feels like nothing. You would notice how bad it is if you drove two systems back to back, hydraulic really is priceless.
@jimb12312 I was able to weight my m6 and it weighed around 3700 pounds (coupe) which is what the e92 m3 weighed. Yes the V8 in the m3 is obviously lighter than the V10 in the m6 but remember when equipped with the dct that's when you gain the weight back on the m3 so both cars weigh the same. I even raced my buddy in his 2013 e92 m3 competition slightly modified and I was able to pull a few cars on him.
Helmet without HANS in a modern non-track car is actually more dangerous than without a helmet. Other than that a helmet is not allowed during touristenfahrten.

This car was such a diappointment when it came out after E46 - it was heavy, faint, quite hard to handle, it was more a GT than anything else. It feels so much better today... It is still a GT, it likes more gentle driving, but just the engine in so magical. And it is much lighter than current production, you can handle it almost precisely, it is still quite fast. Mainly G80 is such a joke next to it... Bring back the N/A engines, M3s were much more interesting with them.
@@jimb12312 Is it really that much lighter than stock overall? It's stripped out but there's an absolutely massive roll cage installed and that's all metal. Curious what the weight difference actually is.
@@jamesaron1967 I counted 8.5 seconds 100-200 and thats going slightly uphill. So it must be significantly lighter than stock. Can't increase the engine power much without supercharger.
@@jamesaron1967 For comparison, stock 100 - 200 kph time is near 11 seconds, so that's a 2 second reduction here. The V8 is naturally aspirated and you can't increase power by that much without a supercharger. So that implies this has a major weight reduction.

Dude raced in serious Karting competitions since he was a kid and later evolved in some professional racing competitions. So Huub definitely knows how to drive. I think he's doing a really good job, doing a full on review while driving on the hectic and technical ring and being sensible. Everyone that has driven on the ring know the skill that is required for doing those things combined.

@@tfm-kq2jt Less than a 135i Stage 2 (N54, BiTurbo) and more than 130i (3.0). Sound in M3 tops everything 😉

nothing to hate on electric steering. I drove a lot of newer cars (from Vw to bmw to audi) and never noticed anything bad about electric steering.

Facelift e9x already has electronic power steering, at least the (non-M) petrol engines do, don't know about diesel.

Great car and sounds great! I test drove a few of these and loved it! It just has alot of lack in power. Which is why I choose a V10 m6.
The V10 M6 adds a lot of weight which cancels out the power gain. End result is the M6 is slower than M3 around a track.

Would the rear end getting light be due to stock brakes on rear. Therefore the brake balance is majority to the front.

Kerb weight of E46 M3 is only 30kg less than E92 M3. This one had a lot of weight stripped out.
