- Hey ghouls! Long time no see, Merry Creepmas! Today we're making a kitschy holiday craft in the form on a 1950s/60s Christmas tree hat. I had lots of requests to do the spooky version of this trend and couldn't resist! We're also chatting about what's been going on in my life the last couple of months and why I've been MIA. Here’s the deal…you owe us nothing. Nothing. You pour your heart and soul into this channel-entertaining us, inspiring us, loving us. I cannot tell you how many happy hours I have spent watching and rewatching your videos. I know I speak for many of your fans when I say I love you, unconditionally. You don’t have to perform to a schedule, especially at the expense of your physical and mental health. (I in no way want to make this about me, so let me just quickly say that I too am a chronic illness warrior and have mental health issues. The state of the world is weighing heavily on my heart, as well. Just in solidarity, enough said.) You made a very profound statement when you said “I can’t pour from an empty cup.” None of us can. You know why they instruct you to put your own oxygen mask on first on an airplane, right? You take care of you, and we will be here to love on you whether you feel good about putting up a new video, or need some time away. A pox upon those viewers who chastised you in any way for taking a break, shame on them. Sending light, love and healing energy across the miles.

Oh Midge, I’m so sorry for what you’ve been going through and for how some of your subscribers have reacted. You were missed, and it’s so nice to see you! No, seriously. As it happens, I’m having an incredibly bad day after a traumatic injury on Sunday, and your video was such a wonderful distraction for me when I needed it the most; and I am so incredibly grateful to you. I’m so happy to see you and you’ve been greatly missed but I completely understand why you took time for yourself. I myself have been struggling with enjoying life and when I do I feel guilty because of all of the horrid things happening in the world. I guess we all need to give ourselves permission to experience joy sometimes.

I had to say goodbye to my 15-year-old familiar "Fred" due to lung cancer on Oct. 19th. We loved celebrating Halloween and Christmas. So I am feeling very hurt and lost. So, I completely understand needing some time to grieve no matter what the circumstance is. You need to take care of yourself and loved ones. 💔❤️

Honestly, when everything is chaotic, surviving, let alone thriving can be a rebellious act. And in terms of things going wrong in the world, any advocacy in line with your values is good whether its educating yourself, sharing information, donating money to local and international groups, voting, calling/emailing representatives, protests, or even buying goods that benefit the communities affected. When everything feels like you have no control, you have more power than you think.

Midge, you are amazing. I'm just glad you are ok and coming out the otherside of a rough patch. I'm sorry other people made you feel bad for not producing content. As a maker and content creator myself I know how hard and draining it is to be continually creative, never mind the all the editing and behinds the scenes work on top. I am so sorry you're going through a difficult time. I felt this in my soul. I've also been going through a difficult time for the past several months, and trying to simply be festive and excited about the things I normally get hyped up for has been a real struggle. My small home based business that I relaunched has been suffering as a result of my emotional and mental space. Because of this, I'm grateful I also have a regular 9-5 to keep me sustained financially.
I say that to say this, sometimes we absolutely need to take a step back to take care of ourselves. We can't give what we don't have.
Though we don't know each other personally, and I've never met you, I care about you. If people can hate others they don't know, I can love people I don't know. You have a created a big family in the community you've built here. Girl, you family now!😂😂

I get that not everyone follows you on IG and may not get all the updates but to put their disappointment, irritation, frustration on you is just ridiculous! You're human and even if nothing bad had happened, you are allowed to post when YOU want without explanation... that hurts my heart that people got on your case about taking time away. Between this, the thriftmas shopping you were able to pull off, and your other videos featuring second hand acquisitions, it proves how creative you are and how your efforts for sustainability make these projects special and valuable!

When I saw that weren't posting I just assumed that you needed a break after all of the massive content that you put out running up to Spooky season. Also do what you need to do...just because you are a content creator doesn't mean you don't deserve to have a work life balance and that your real life and family and friends aren't just as important as anyone else's. Aww, Midge! For starters, I (and I am sure many others) don't give a hoot if content is delayed or you take time off. Sure, don't get me wrong- I love your videos! However, having fun watching your videos absolutely takes a backseat to being happy that you take time for yourself when you need to. You, your wellbeing, and your needs matter!
