I've installed Linux Zorin OS 17 Core and Pro on 5 workstations so far. They all are considerably faster than they were under Windows 10. I was ready to retire and recycle the laptops/PCs, but decided on a couple of upgrades to the workstations to extend their lives for years. I really like the ability to scale the desktop to fit with the view the end user wants.
@@ark66 I'm probably not the best person to ask about that. I don't game on my computers other than an occasional game of solitaire. I'd search RUclips or Google.
“Life’s short buddy, you’ve got to live faster!” Thanks for somehow always making me smile or laugh out loud while watching your videos! I think I saw in my last software update in Zorin 16.3 that the upgrader tool is now available, can’t wait to try it out. Even though I’ve read that it isn’t necessary to backup the home directory for the upgrade, I’m going to err on the side of caution since this is the first instance of this feature I’ve ever experienced being available in a Linux distribution. Thanks again for turning me onto Zorin 5 months ago after using Linux Mint for 9 years, keep up the great content!
Yeah, I missed the cube in a distro. I always installed in the distros, but many tweaks to make it work. Here, we have it in a clic of a button. Great.
could you make a video on how to make zorin 17 faster? i've looked on youtube and google and havent found anything that makes sense to a noob (me). Also, i'm running on acer aspire i5 5th generation with 8 gb ram. Zorin OS isnt buttery smooth as i expected. so either zorin os isnt the right os for my hardware or it needs to be configured so as to run faster or i need a more light weight distro like maybe antix? any recommendations?
I'm currently using Zorin OS 17 on an older laptop (Core i3-2350M, 4 GB DDR3, 128GB SSD), and it runs smoothly. The visual effects occasionaly lag, given the older hardware, but the OS never freezes. The OS is very stable. I use it for university.
Don't know how my system got really slow after installing zorin os Dell Inspiron Laptop specifications 4gb ram 500gb hdd but it's still lagging. Any os can you suggest for this specification?
Please tell me..does this OS support Multi-monitor connection.? that is can we connect One monitor to the Laptop HDMI output to get a Mirror or Extension of OS ?
You are really a Great Linux RUclipsr, and I've started my own linux channel after getting inspired by you, but I wanna ask you, Is being a Linux Content Creator worth it? Like Does YT pays okay ? Can you Tell me The RPM of a linux video?
Hey man, checked out your videos. Very good content. Liked the presentation. It all depends on you if it's worth it. Money wise, it's just OK. Not that great. You have to have sponsors and stuff. I would recommend doing it while you have a full time job. I started this as I was passionate about Linux and today I reach a lot of people. For me, that makes it worth it. So if you're passionate about Linux and want to do it for passion, go ahead. If you want to do it for money, there's not a lot here.
I run Zorin 16.3 Pro so far and was very happy, unfortunately after installing Zorin 17 Pro my happiness was gone. Tor not working, flameshot not working, and many other applications I used before are not working like on Zorin 16.3 Pro. Possibly, the Wayland system is a problem. To back my happiness I back to my previous Zorin 16.3 Pro.
Have you done an in-place upgrade or a clean install? The issues were mostly reported by users who did in-place upgrades. I have done a clean install and have not faced issues yet. The interface is smooth and all my apps work flawlessly. Edit: I use Wayland.
I wish I could get Windows 7 or XP to run on my Ryzen 7950x with 128gb I would dwmp Windows 10 in a heartbeat. Never running 11. Linux still isn't there yet. Which leaves me in a pickle of using Windows 10 for the next 20 years or as long as I can hold out. I had it dual booting to Zorin 16 but that distro install went pear shaped on me and things started breaking.
i started on version 15,not an it student just a geek trying to put an old netbook back to life..& yeah, the lite version saved my then ancient asus eepc variant (intel atom) pre install ed windows 7 starter pack(worst)😅😅now, using 17 core on my 2ndhand Dell lat 3350
didnt even need the fan running, its like running almost nothing work for the cpu..like compairing the heat vs. windows 10? man thats like 80% difference..barely heating.. haven't tested on steam though 😂
I LOVE FLATPAKS... and that - and the new updates will make me check this out-- even though I HATE gnome.. (looks great- but gets in my way-- too much BS)..
So what you're telling me ... is that it's gnome with extensions installed, that some of us have been using for several years now, previously through compiz back in the day... it's just gnome... although I am a gnome user now, I will say KDE has been doing this stuff since early 2000's back when I was using it daily. What set's it apart from other distro though?
é por isso que eu sou amante do fedora, por disponibilizar tudo de maneira super atualizada e recente além de ser tão estável quanto qualquer outra distro
Oh My Gosh. None of the things that you mentioned about Zorin are actually new. I've been able to use some of these features since 2012 and the rest of them since at least 2020. (Of course, when KDE developers took away the 3D Cube because they are A-holes, they told the Linux community Eff y'all.)
So it ONLY comes in gnome???? If that's the case-- F.... it !!! I HATE having to use KEYS for anything-- espeically not changing functions or tiling-- that's BS..The system should do that-- like in POP- or using BISMUTh in kde..There is such thing as TOO MUCH freakin choice... and this looks like it!!! BUT- I'll give it a fair try and see what happens..
I was using Zorin OS 16 and it was a top tier distro but unfortunately Zorin 17 has gone the ubuntu way and made everything a snap. Even the base DE is a snap. At first there was Snap Gnome with Flatpak Firefox, absolute trainwreck for my pc. Trying to watch any video was a pain and rewinding a video resulted in it freezing for a minute. Then, I wasn't able to install the Apt version of Firefox because Ubuntu and snap but managed to do it, but still my PC froze up every few minutes for no reason at all. Now I'm using KDE Plasma on Zorin and its working fine. It might be a case of potato PC but I don't know.

Yup. With Linux, the lifetime of hardware significantly increases. This is great from an ecological point of view.

you are crazy, every linux is same behind the hood. Stop Dsitro hopping, Zorin is essentialy debain behind the hood.
This is the biggest and most complete software store I have ever seen in a Linux Distro. I am amazed. So easy, so many apps! Great.
Desktop Cube was long time ago part of Linux world... Compiz rings the bell.
why do very few RUclipsrs "get" Zorin? Most say it's great for beginners, which it is, but it's great for power users too, great video

Lubuntu had never failed me for speed, though it doesn't look great
Is there anyway to upgrade without having to do a complete new install and losing existing files?
Yes there is. blog.zorin.com/2024/01/23/test-the-upgrade-from-zorin-os-16-to-17/

Atleast for the beginners, zorin and mint serves better than other Linux distributions
2 years is not a long time.
Zorin is LTS. Most users don't care about versions anyway, they just want their system to be stable, fast and easy to use.

After all Linux is a kernel and developers can modify/use it then why this debate always....Just use the distro according to need....
