The thing about Joan was that you could not stop watching her and you could not stop listening to her and you wanted more even after 50 years of seeing her work!
Joan you're larger than life it's hard to believe you're gone but never forgotten . You have made this world a better place . So funny and truthful. Xx
....Joan was constantly reading....always looking for NEW jokes.....kept an amazing archive of every joke she ever told. I met JOan a few times @Madison Avenue and 69th Street...and I was waiting for my express bus back to the Bronx after my teaching classes at Hunter College. She seemed a bit "lonely" (my word...perhaps not)...was walking PIKE...her terrier....never seemed to have a plastic or other bag for his "poopies" (her word). As a pre-school spcial ed. teacher earlier in the day...I always had tissues on me. It was so much fun meeting her...I had memorized he album WHAT BECOMES A SEMI-LEGEND MOST.... years before...and had read ENTER TALKING. Rest in Peace Crazy Lady! lol
"society is falling apart" JR. Because of political correctness. She's absolutely right. I'd like to see her as a full time interviewer of not only celebrities, but if she'd interview every profession or leaders, including physicians, nurses, medical researchers, politicians, business people, engineers etc. She's brilliant.
In actuality Joan was not just funny as hell she learned how to make things work in her favor and was also a wonderful mother and grandmother. She is so right about political correctness. I hate it too. And the division between Democrats and Republicans they both just try to keep the others from succeeding. Just remember you work for the people and what they need to do to help them. Joan didn't care. But she told the truth
one woman unafraid to speak and to think that for the most part, people could not handle it. She herself said she was not "invited" anywhere, which speaks volumes about this society, and the BS propaganda that is well and alive in this nation, about "free speech", think again, ... try and speak freely and you will be ostracized by 99.9% of the people. Go Joan,@@@@ political correctness
You said it, and I've been living it! If sincerity and outspokenness is not illegal in US society, it might well be in the entertainment industry and artistic circles. Watching Joan was, and is a reminder that decency, sincerity and guts can co-exist. Joan proved that truth in comedy is the best road to revelation.

All those books! And she majored in English literature and anthropology. She studied the classics. Joan Rivers was no lightweight. RIP.
