Bro I moved from Melbourne up to cairns a few years ago. I now work FIFO in the mines, I made $141k last year. I sold my hilux because I rarely use it and I saved for a house. Now I got a mate that only earns $100k, him and his missus (who works part time) bought 2 brand new Toyotas, over $100k financed just in cars to ‘flex the good lifestyle’. But somehow, when we catch up for beers he makes me feel bad for having savings, because he lives paycheck to paycheck. It’s a fucken choice bro. People have their priorities all fucked up and it’s something that at 30, if you don’t nip those bad habits now, they’re gonna hurt in the long term. Cost of living in Melbourne is out of control, especially with property which is partly why I left
$100k finance for 2 ordinary cars. Crazy! Just so that they can look successful, when in reality they are broke! Pretentiousness kills savings, so does a wife. Never finance a depreciating asset. In a few years they will likely still owe more than the cars are worth by then.
A lot of people pretending out here its an epidemic. But if its for work or a business I get it. A lot of people just aren't handling their business though..

When its time for a feed, everyone's looking around to how they want you to shout. You're right its an absolute choice being paycheck to paycheck. Can you please tell me the reality of working in the mines and how I may get into it. I'm a 50 year old woman and I'm about to get my MR licence to hopefully be able to drive the dump trucks. I have a severe knee injury and the doctors won't give me a knee replacement for 20 years. I am desperate to work a job that pays well and which I don't have to go to uni for 6 years to walk out with a massive hex debt but get a high paying job. I am completely reliant on my husband who has to support me and our daughter on $95,000. It is extremely mentally difficult for me having no money. I really need people to show me how I can get ahead.

The advice is right there bro stay clean no gambling and save, I’m a single parent on a pension but I get by and my kids can live with me as long as they like as long as there’s no drugs or gambling, if they’re saving I won’t even charge them board but once they hit their late 20’s they can still live with me rent free but they’ll have to chip in for bills and stuff, stay with your mum and save bro you’re lucky you’ve got that option..

Damn that's no joke there. I would assume regional? How do you make that work? Im in melb 11kms out and i calculate $80k PA all in, 2 cars, dog, food, rent. Rent is a funny thing as compared to other citys, the melb rent IS cheaper however ownership is on the other spectrum. Give it a year and compared to other citys melb ownership will also be cheap
If property halved, things would be OK. Property used to be 60% percent cheaper in the 1970s in real terms. This will be a drag on our economy of years, perhaps decades.

I bought a nice home in Geelong area 11 years ago. Left Melbourne I knew I didn’t want a huge mortgage. Was a lot cheaper than Melbourne. Half the price back then. Didn’t want to live the far suburbs of Melbourne. As I was in Richmond south Yarra areas. I loved Melbourne but I knew where it was heading in cost of living. If I was in Melbourne and struggling I’d go to a country town or leave the State.

Hey, I understand! I don’t drink or go out either. I stopped because I was feeling depressed and couldn’t afford to seek help from a specialist. For a while, I ate poorly and gained weight, but eventually, I snapped out of it. I started by walking for 30 minutes a day, and now I’m up to three hours! I also began weight resistance training in January 2024 and I’m still going strong. I’ve built some muscle and burned fat, although I still have a little back fat to work on-lol! I’m one of those people who feels stuck in the system, living paycheck to paycheck. I have a car on finance, and yes, the cost of living is high! I need to take a hard look at myself and ask some tough questions. Thank you for reminding me to reflect on my habits and whether they really serve me!

It usually desn't take 30 years to pay of a home , because of inflation , If inflation is say 6% and your mortgage is 6% , do the maths . Your wages will double or triple by then . Inflation is your friend . If you rent , your rent would double or triple by then . A house you can take a loan against , it's an asset . Why work all your life and have nothing to show for it , why work at all then .

I can understand how you feel like you do given your expenses and your work. Port Melbourne is very expensive place to live. You have made that choice. Even choosing to own a car is an expensive choice for commuting. I mostly work from home so don’t need to commute large distances and can live in a unit in outer suburbs. When I do commute to the city I use the train. It takes 30 mins to the city by train. It takes similar to you to drive in peak traffic and park. As for paying off a mortgage for 30 years. I did it in 7. The secret is to increase your savings rate and cut down your expenses, housing being the biggest one.
yep and personally I have no problem with that. But it is the life that is very high in demand and there is less supply so prices were always going to go up based on economics. Demand has increased and there wasn’t enough of housing built of the type that you want. Also it’s worth noting that you are also competing against dinks for the same housing. Ultimately it’s a very expensive lifestyle choice so expecting it to not require a high income such as 150k is unrealistic
great video Filip, I'm running here in Toronto, Canada at about 3500 just to float ... car, ins. rent. groceries. i very rarely eat out.. like never... i just dump all my money on whole foods and supplements... my gym membership is $35 includes red light therapy and tanning... the red light therapy i do 4 times a week, so many health benefits... I have downsized my work to part time for the next while as I am working on a couple projects and taking courses from home.... but yes i agree with your video , its super expensive.. really enjoyed the content.. look forward to part 2. You're mad overspending on rent. Downsize and live further out of the city, you can't afford it. You also certainly don't need 30 years to pay off an apartment. 8-13 is more realistic. You can get a government grant if you earn under 125k as well. You can talk all day about self improvement but you need to focus on improving your job prospects and investments. You're in your prime working years, and your earning potential should be much higher to set yourself up for the future. If you think life is hard financially now, it's going to be mad tougher when you get older.
Appreciate the comment man. It's about what you're willing to trade in your prime years to potentially enjoy it down the track later on. Investments are on point and trying to help other people online definitely working on it. Even though I'm in a well paid sector, there is always that ceiling on what a job can yield both financially and mentally. You're right though it's going to definitely get harder as you get older. I am retired in Phoenix, Arizona. I like AUS so much. If I were a young man I would be there, except for the high housing costs. Its all about MONEY in a capitalistic society. I spoke to a woman on a cruise, and she said she and her husband flipped houses in Sydney. Made millions. Australia's politicians should design policies for modestly priced homes. Keep the country Australian. And open the big spaces of land for Australians. Politicians get elected and are out for themselves and their re-election.

Unless you are with a partner and you're both working, I think its difficult to get ahead on a single salary (I was on 6 figures+). I decided to plug out of the 30 year mortgage and moved abroad. Sydney rent and Property prices are the highest in Australia $800 week rent is the average price and not in a beachside area or within 30 mins of city and beach for a 2 bedroom Unit . I gave a friend who paying $5,500 per month for mortgage for a 2 bedroom unit which is located over 1 hour from the City.

No, own property, sacrifice to own property... because when you retire will you be able to still pay $750 a week for rent plus utilities??? nope. Plan for the future and anyone saying only live for now is just reckless. I managed to build a new build, I moved out of the city to a small town, my new build still cost $915,000 all up but I can now sell for minimum $1,1 Mill, so I'm building another new build for $950,000 (cos prices have already gone up), will sell my current and I will be mortgage free.... at 40 years old. I have put all of my money into my mortgage and paid of the land on the new build in full, but I sacrificed everything else, no eating out, no holidays etc for 2 years, and will be mortgage free at 40 years old... that is gold. OWN property! I do earn good money too, obviously, but I work very hard and have plied evert cent into property. Now I'll have the luxury of buying a second home or just travelling, the freedom with property ownership is priceless...

Yep, sadly it's expensive to have a strong health or wellness focus, which really is saving the healthcare system in the end (but there's few incentives for those of us who are taking care of our bodies in our early and mid years of life). Even top cover health care only covers limited wellness extras, then quality foods are expensive (red meats, better quality fresh produce, health supplements/vitamins/collagen peptides/protein supplements that aren't full of micro plastics), even taking pride in appearance with a regular haircut ($40 a visit on average). Top cover health care doesn't seem to meet you half way for more than just a few remedial massages which before you're out of pocket. The system is designed this way intentionally.
Yeah man look its expensive which ever route you take. You either pay for it on the front end of the back end. So far i'm just spending on good quality stuff and it seems to work for now touch wood. But yeah A lot of the time it doesn't even touch the sides. I can see why people are choosing other places to live especially if they can have location independent income.
Uni is a scam. I did science all the way to PhD. The most I earnt after 10 years in the field was $43/hour. The work was really stressful. I left that industry and now earn $34 in healthcare admin. I earn less but at least I am not stressed out anymore. I wonder if I should have even bothered with uni at all.
Exactly! I got my science/microbiology degree a decade ago and have earnt nothing since. I've had to completely change industries to Law now and would still need a couple more years to start earning anything decent. Wish I went straight into Law. Worst crisis to experience now.
@@ad9872 Yep, there are no jobs in medical science. The uni's don't tell you that though. I left academia (too stressful) and worked in pathology (genetics) and was on contracts for 10 years. It's a huge toll mentally, not knowing if you can pay the bills. There are about 1-2 jobs per year in genetics in the state I live in. So if you lose your job, you are screwed. So much happier in admin. Scientist gets 150 applicants, Admin gets 15 applicants. So it's really easy to get another admin job if you are not happy. I hope you have a better experience with Law
Its our lifestyles that's doing the damage . Yes everyday things have gone up whilst our pay's have only increased marginally but our desires for everything we lay our eyes on has gone thru the roof . Back 30 - 50 years ago people didnt holiday no where near as much ,1 car was enough for many people , shopping centres were full only 2 days a week , woman weren't doing online shopping it didnt exist . For the area you live in, you know its not the most cost effective location to live in, and you have chosen to live there becasue of a number of factors, to "flex" the lifestyle. Be happy for that, as you're self aware that you can change without finincial repercusions. But I would have to say that one of the biggest mistakes is people just living beyond their means becasue of how assessable debt is now. Afterpay, Zip money, Credit cards, the list goes on. Everyone can have what they have always wanted, and there is now easier means to get it.
Brett full transparency, I put away more half my pay, I'm debt free and prioritizing life set up, rather than travelling 2 hours a day to a job that just pays for the bills. It's a little bit of a different mindset but the method behind the madness none the less. I do agree with you with people flexing on the consumer debt to impress people that they don't like though...
I vacated Inner Northern Suburbs of Melbourne in October for a coastal property in Greater Geelong area. Traffic is non existent, there is no congestion, no problems with noise, just peaceful. Can finally sleep without been woken up by an idiot doing burnouts! Everything is much cheaper in this area in comparison to Melbourne!

There is apartments there for 320-360k 1 bedroom with carpark, the price for a 1 bedroom here on the Gold Coast is 500-600k so much cheaper to buy in Victoria now where it was the opposite before! Buy an investment property further out of town so someone is paying off a house that will eventually go to you while you are paying off someone else's mortgage. That's what I do.

You’ll discover by yourself that Melbourne isn’t that bad. For sure, is harder than a decade ago, but that’s why there are opportunities! Take a look to California growth too! For example, In Bologna, a bed in a sharehouse (for university’s student) is around 800€. The medium wage in Italy is like ~1200€ (there are a lots tax evasion so italian medium wage statistics’ are not accurate).

I know. I've lived half my life in Melbourne and half in Athens. I know maybe 100 families in Greece, and I can tell you I have never met any Greek family who bought a house and paid it off entirely themselves. Never. Not one, it's impossible. Maybe a plastic surgeon or football player has done it, but I don't know any of those. Everybody I know had to either marry into it or get a lot of help or maybe a piece of land from his or his wife's parents, there's no other way, most people make like €1000, good luck buying even a tiny apartment with that. Australians don't understand that this is actually the reality for the VAST majority of people around the world. And mind you, when Australians say "home" they mean 500 square metres of land with a 200 sqm of house on it. Not an apartment.
And you still havent heard the magic words from the missus. "School zone". And then "I can't even put a nail on the wall, we need to buy". Immigration unchecked and rich squeezed people more and more! My rent is $2000 a month for a semi detached home! Was $1200 only 5 years ago. Melbourne is overpriced. Personally I prefer Perth or Brisbane - nicer weather. Even Sydney can be cheaper sometimes. London is expensive but more cultured than Melbourne. Miami Beach is the only beach area on earth that's actually worth the price IMO. Anyway my lifestyle is simple, I just rent a small room, cook my own meals, spend most of my time outdoors and keeping fit. I use financial assets to boost my income. I hardly work at all now, and travel frequently. If you know the tricks to live cheaply and invest globally you can live anywhere. 🌏

Unfortunately, I would describe your life as being ‘Owned by the capitalist project’. You don’t have to be owned by it. Some realise this, some don’t. Some take action against this. Some don’t. There is a way out. It will involve sacrifices on the things you think you ‘need’. But don’t fret. Later you will realise that you don’t need them. After denying yourself them for long enough, you will have no will for that which you thought you ‘needed’. And the money will be in the bank for greater goals.
@ Hi buddy. From your video, I would say you have enough income for a home loan, maybe by yourself. A partner also on the mortgage can certainly help you to get a better place. But there can be horrible problems if you are both on the Title, and you break up. Don’t delay finding a home loan broker e.g. Aussie Home Loans. Banks don’t like lending if the loan (e.g. 30 years) can’t be paid off by your retirement age. You need to save up a deposit, usually 10% of the property price. It’s normal to have income / cash coming in from more than one source to buy the place, and for the loan. By your video, cutbacks on lifestyle are possible all over the place. Doesn’t really hurt when you’re focusing on the big goal. And at the end, you still have something to sell. With renting you have no property to sell. The problem with waiting for the best moment or time to buy, is that the goal gets further away from you the longer you wait. And you have less time in life to pay it off. The least you can do is go to a bank or mortgage broker and size up your situation, and your goals. There has to be a way. Also, home loans (Principal and Interest) only go down. They don’t go up, so inflation is irrelevant. I would recommend getting a Principal and Interest loan. You may not get your ideal place, or ideal location. But you get ‘in the game’, and nothing is more important than that.

I left Middle Park, wanted to go back. Could never go back. Now 10 years in South Korea. I had no family in Melbourne so I had no safety net, so I left as a Kiwi/Aussie. My mates all left to. I was on the tram line just 50m from the water. Our apartment was nice and only 570 for a 2 room back in 2012, 2nd floor. The gender shit is dumb, birthrates will drop as salaries to inflation ramp up. Every economy is showing less women in the workforce helps fertility. Western world has gone so far it's gone backwards.

Go into debt to but an investment property then rent it out. Use rent income and your income to pay off the debt and use other income streams like cryptocurrency if you use it or doing RUclips videos to make money. I realised that we need multiple income streams to live comfortable life. The more assets you have the better.
Hustle mentality I like it, the only thing is how to get there, I’d hold off on property till multiple streams of income are secured. Keep grinding amigo!

Bro I moved from Melbourne up to cairns a few years ago. I now work FIFO in the mines, I made $141k last year. I sold my hilux because I rarely use it and I saved for a house. Now I got a mate that only earns $100k, him and his missus (who works part time) bought 2 brand new Toyotas, over $100k financed just in cars to ‘flex the good lifestyle’. But somehow, when we catch up for beers he makes me feel bad for having savings, because he lives paycheck to paycheck. It’s a fucken choice bro. People have their priorities all fucked up and it’s something that at 30, if you don’t nip those bad habits now, they’re gonna hurt in the long term. Cost of living in Melbourne is out of control, especially with property which is partly why I left

Can you please tell me the reality of working in the mines and how I may get into it. I'm a 50 year old woman and I'm about to get my MR licence to hopefully be able to drive the dump trucks. I have a severe knee injury and the doctors won't give me a knee replacement for 20 years. I bought a nice home in Geelong area 11 years ago. Left Melbourne I knew I didn’t want a huge mortgage. Was a lot cheaper than Melbourne. Half the price back then. Didn’t want to live the far suburbs of Melbourne. As I was in Richmond south Yarra areas. I loved Melbourne but I knew where it was heading in cost of living. If I was in Melbourne and struggling I’d go to a country town or leave the State.

Hey, I understand! I don’t drink or go out either. I stopped because I was feeling depressed and couldn’t afford to seek help from a specialist. For a while, I ate poorly and gained weight, but eventually, I snapped out of it. I started by walking for 30 minutes a day, and now I’m up to three hours! I also began weight resistance training in January 2024 and I’m still going strong. I’ve built some muscle and burned fat, although I still have a little back fat to work on-lol!
I’m one of those people who feels stuck in the system, living paycheck to paycheck. I have a car on finance, and yes, the cost of living is high! I need to take a hard look at myself and ask some tough questions. Thank you for reminding me to reflect on my habits and whether they really serve me!

It usually desn't take 30 years to pay of a home , because of inflation , If inflation is say 6% and your mortgage is 6% , do the maths . Your wages will double or triple by then . Inflation is your friend . If you rent , your rent would double or triple by then . A house you can take a loan against , it's an asset . Why work all your life and have nothing to show for it , why work at all then .

I can understand how you feel like you do given your expenses and your work. Port Melbourne is very expensive place to live. You have made that choice. Even choosing to own a car is an expensive choice for commuting. I mostly work from home so don’t need to commute large distances and can live in a unit in outer suburbs. When I do commute to the city I use the train. It takes 30 mins to the city by train. It takes similar to you to drive in peak traffic and park. As for paying off a mortgage for 30 years. I did it in 7. The secret is to increase your savings rate and cut down your expenses, housing being the biggest one.
I'm never hating on it, I'm just saying that this is how much it costs to live the life that I want. Good on you for being mortgage free :)
yep and personally I have no problem with that. But it is the life that is very high in demand and there is less supply so prices were always going to go up based on economics. Demand has increased and there wasn’t enough of housing built of the type that you want. Also it’s worth noting that you are also competing against dinks for the same housing. Ultimately it’s a very expensive lifestyle choice so expecting it to not require a high income such as 150k is unrealistic

great video Filip, I'm running here in Toronto, Canada at about 3500 just to float ... car, ins. rent. groceries. i very rarely eat out.. like never... i just dump all my money on whole foods and supplements... my gym membership is $35 includes red light therapy and tanning... the red light therapy i do 4 times a week, so many health benefits... I have downsized my work to part time for the next while as I am working on a couple projects and taking courses from home.... but yes i agree with your video , its super expensive.. really enjoyed the content.. look forward to part 2. You're mad overspending on rent. Downsize and live further out of the city, you can't afford it. You also certainly don't need 30 years to pay off an apartment. 8-13 is more realistic. You can get a government grant if you earn under 125k as well.
You can talk all day about self improvement but you need to focus on improving your job prospects and investments. You're in your prime working years, and your earning potential should be much higher to set yourself up for the future. If you think life is hard financially now, it's going to be mad tougher when you get older.

No, own property, sacrifice to own property... because when you retire will you be able to still pay $750 a week for rent plus utilities??? nope. Plan for the future and anyone saying only live for now is just reckless. I managed to build a new build, I moved out of the city to a small town, my new build still cost $915,000 all up but I can now sell for minimum $1,1 Mill, so I'm building another new build for $950,000 (cos prices have already gone up), will sell my current and I will be mortgage free.... at 40 years old. I have put all of my money into my mortgage and paid of the land on the new build in full, but I sacrificed everything else, no eating out, no holidays etc for 2 years, and will be mortgage free at 40 years old... that is gold. OWN property! I do earn good money too, obviously, but I work very hard and have plied evert cent into property. Now I'll have the luxury of buying a second home or just travelling, the freedom with property ownership is priceless...

Yep, sadly it's expensive to have a strong health or wellness focus, which really is saving the healthcare system in the end (but there's few incentives for those of us who are taking care of our bodies in our early and mid years of life). Even top cover health care only covers limited wellness extras, then quality foods are expensive (red meats, better quality fresh produce, health supplements/vitamins/collagen peptides/protein supplements that aren't full of micro plastics), even taking pride in appearance with a regular haircut ($40 a visit on average). Top cover health care doesn't seem to meet you half way for more than just a few remedial massages which before you're out of pocket. The system is designed this way intentionally.

Uni is a scam. I did science all the way to PhD. The most I earnt after 10 years in the field was $43/hour. The work was really stressful. I left that industry and now earn $34 in healthcare admin. I earn less but at least I am not stressed out anymore. I wonder if I should have even bothered with uni at all.

@@ad9872 Yep, there are no jobs in medical science. The uni's don't tell you that though. I left academia (too stressful) and worked in pathology (genetics) and was on contracts for 10 years. It's a huge toll mentally, not knowing if you can pay the bills. There are about 1-2 jobs per year in genetics in the state I live in. So if you lose your job, you are screwed. So much happier in admin. Scientist gets 150 applicants, Admin gets 15 applicants. So it's really easy to get another admin job if you are not happy. I hope you have a better experience with Law

For the area you live in, you know its not the most cost effective location to live in, and you have chosen to live there becasue of a number of factors, to "flex" the lifestyle. Be happy for that, as you're self aware that you can change without finincial repercusions. But I would have to say that one of the biggest mistakes is people just living beyond their means becasue of how assessable debt is now. Afterpay, Zip money, Credit cards, the list goes on. Everyone can have what they have always wanted, and there is now easier means to get it.
Brett full transparency, I put away more half my pay, I'm debt free and prioritizing life set up, rather than travelling 2 hours a day to a job that just pays for the bills. It's a little bit of a different mindset but the method behind the madness none the less. I do agree with you with people flexing on the consumer debt to impress people that they don't like though...

I vacated Inner Northern Suburbs of Melbourne in October for a coastal property in Greater Geelong area. Traffic is non existent, there is no congestion, no problems with noise, just peaceful. Can finally sleep without been woken up by an idiot doing burnouts! Everything is much cheaper in this area in comparison to Melbourne!

I know maybe 100 families in Greece, and I can tell you I have never met any Greek family who bought a house and paid it off entirely themselves. Never. Not one, it's impossible. Maybe a plastic surgeon or football player has done it, but I don't know any of those. Everybody I know had to either marry into it or get a lot of help or maybe a piece of land from his or his wife's parents, there's no other way, most people make like €1000, good luck buying even a tiny apartment with that. Australians don't understand that this is actually the reality for the VAST majority of people around the world. And mind you, when Australians say "home" they mean 500 square metres of land with a 200 sqm of house on it. Not an apartment.
And you still havent heard the magic words from the missus. "School zone". And then "I can't even put a nail on the wall, we need to buy". When you hear those words, your life is done LOL

I work to pay bills and yes it’s getting worse every year! I can’t afford to go out like before. Tax is unbelievable and everything is overpriced! Immigration unchecked and rich squeezed people more and more! My rent is $2000 a month for a semi detached home! Was $1200 only 5 years ago. Debt is a cancer and they don’t teach you financial independence for a reason!

Can still get an ok apartment for $400/500k pay it off quick etc, better than paying $100s of thousands for someone else’s mortgage and having nothing to show for it…But each to their own..

Melbourne is overpriced. Personally I prefer Perth or Brisbane - nicer weather. Even Sydney can be cheaper sometimes. London is expensive but more cultured than Melbourne. Miami Beach is the only beach area on earth that's actually worth the price IMO. Anyway my lifestyle is simple, I just rent a small room, cook my own meals, spend most of my time outdoors and keeping fit. I use financial assets to boost my income. I hardly work at all now, and travel frequently. If you know the tricks to live cheaply and invest globally you can live anywhere. 🌏

They advertise and talk melb up so much, hadnt been there in ages, city is a bit bigger than the Sydney suburb of Parramatta, those tiny laneways in Melb are a joke)) 3-4 little lanes with coffee shops, big deal. Come see QVB in Sydney, the Strand, Angel Place, the beaches, hip inner west, the harbour, list just goes on.

My take is as follows typical inflation suggests there's more money circulating then "they" typically want hence the light bulb moments for Banks, Businesses, Rents etc all charge above normal prices all becomes a cash grab so in theory removing the circulating money is the a solution imo is BS. Name 10 things that are cheaper today under the labor government be it state or federal than when liberal had leadership not including government subsidies.
I agree with you there, just keep poking the bear and seeing how far it goes. I don't want the message to get lost here, I think we can always do more to produce and be of value to offset this. Might be have to add some extra sources of income definitely..
Unfortunately, I would describe your life as being ‘Owned by the capitalist project’. You don’t have to be owned by it. Some realise this, some don’t. Some take action against this. Some don’t. There is a way out. It will involve sacrifices on the things you think you ‘need’. But don’t fret. Later you will realise that you don’t need them. After denying yourself them for long enough, you will have no will for that which you thought you ‘needed’. And the money will be in the bank for greater goals.

@ Hi buddy. From your video, I would say you have enough income for a home loan, maybe by yourself. A partner also on the mortgage can certainly help you to get a better place. But there can be horrible problems if you are both on the Title, and you break up. Don’t delay finding a home loan broker e.g. Aussie Home Loans. Banks don’t like lending if the loan (e.g. 30 years) can’t be paid off by your retirement age. You need to save up a deposit, usually 10% of the property price. It’s normal to have income / cash coming in from more than one source to buy the place, and for the loan. By your video, cutbacks on lifestyle are possible all over the place. Doesn’t really hurt when you’re focusing on the big goal. And at the end, you still have something to sell. With renting you have no property to sell. The problem with waiting for the best moment or time to buy, is that the goal gets further away from you the longer you wait. And you have less time in life to pay it off. The least you can do is go to a bank or mortgage broker and size up your situation, and your goals. There has to be a way. Also, home loans (Principal and Interest) only go down. They don’t go up, so inflation is irrelevant. I would recommend getting a Principal and Interest loan. You may not get your ideal place, or ideal location. But you get ‘in the game’, and nothing is more important than that.

I left Middle Park, wanted to go back. Could never go back. Now 10 years in South Korea. I had no family in Melbourne so I had no safety net, so I left as a Kiwi/Aussie. My mates all left to.
I was on the tram line just 50m from the water. Our apartment was nice and only 570 for a 2 room back in 2012, 2nd floor.
The gender shit is dumb, birthrates will drop as salaries to inflation ramp up. Every economy is showing less women in the workforce helps fertility. Western world has gone so far it's gone backwards.

Go into debt to but an investment property then rent it out. Use rent income and your income to pay off the debt and use other income streams like cryptocurrency if you use it or doing RUclips videos to make money. I realised that we need multiple income streams to live comfortable life. The more assets you have the better.
Hustle mentality I like it, the only thing is how to get there, I’d hold off on property till multiple streams of income are secured. Keep grinding amigo!

Yes, you're out of touch. 150k is a really good salary and you're over spending. Yes, everything costs a lot but you need to be honest with yourself about the things you want vs the things you need.
Cheers for the comment man, probably the rent is a little high but its fully furnished. Apart from that I guess you'll see where i'm exactly spending cash in the next one, its going to be a full break down. 150k is before tax though, after mortgage, food, bills its nothing too crazy left over. Moving 1 hour out of the city isn't an option though for now unfortunately.
